Ancient Greece (Collins Gem) Reviews

  • Devin

This is not a scholarly, in-depth type of book. Very surface level and best for introductory reading. Just what I was looking for. Short, to the point, full of pictures, timelines and charts. Helped me put together a lot of names I vaguely knew.

This is not a bad book. There is a lot of very general information, but so general it has been simplified to the point of inaccuracy. It's a good place to start, if you are interested in Ancient Greece, want a big overview, and the book took only an hour or two to read. Meaning any fault because of brevity is sort of understandable. If you are already knowledgeable then this book might be practically worthless, but if you aren't then you might very well find this book helpful and useful.
