Minecraft: Medieval Fortress: Exploded Builds: An Official Mojang Book Reviews

I loved this! I turned Minecraft on, put this book in my lap and proceeded build an amazing fortress. And then a beautiful tavern and cottages for the village. The exploded visual instructions are so much easier to follow than any text or YouTube tutorials. The book is nicely organized by beginner through expert builds, including Builder and Redstone focused projects. Also you don't have to make it historically accurate. There's plenty of suggestions on how make your castles your own; from Germanic roofing to PvP defensible structures. Happy building!

One of the best guides for castle and fantasy world building. The ideas were easy to implement, yet well detailed and easy to customize for players. This is a much higher quality production than 99% of the "guidebooks" out there.

You might think that Mojang have produced this Minecraft book as a hardcover for the prestige, however I think they are aware that this book is required to be hard-wearing, that this book will become a part of your home's Minicraft world. It's going to see a lot of action. That also explains why the pages are so thick - tear and rip resistant. This book provides not just the opportunity to build an epic fortress, but also includes a village (in less detail) and a dungeon. You also get to fill it with redstone traps - ideal for evil lords everywhere!
The exploded diagrams are a great approach, for they make it clear on how to build what is a complex structure. My nine year old Micecraft addict built the initial turret then found it a little to tough to proceed. The ability of builders will vary and if this is a present for children be prepared to pitch in and give a little help (or have someone who can) - it's times like these that local multiplayer can really help. However you get the fortress built, it's going to be the envy of other players in your world.
The overall quality is excellent. I've mentioned the page quality above, however the binding is also very good and the pages are full of information and very clear text and illustrations. Despite the amount of information presented, it is always clear to see, well spaced with a very easy to read font.
Overall, this is a great book, which needs a little patience but delivers an awesome result. -
Some of the blueprints are great - like the turrets. It gives you the exact dimensions in those cases. Others it's just like "here's a building" but there's no cutaway to see dimensions etc. It could be better - it looks like parts of it are really half assed, but the parts that are done right are excellent.

This book is perfect. It is a only hard copy with tear and rip resistant sheets. In this book you can truly know what to do when building your fort of Awesomeness!

This is actually a great guide for anyone looking to make a Minecraft fortress. It has a lot of good ideas, and gave me some ideas for the mansion I am building as well.

I could not get the portcullis to work on my castle. I ended up using a variation that I'd found on YouTube.
I did enjoy building all the structures though. -

I love this book it is very useful in you Minecraft
Experience.
( Love the Redstone bits ) -
Some interesting designs and build ideas. I originally gave this 5 stars but dropped it one after trying to work some of the designs into a game. Their ideas are good but their presentation of their "blueprints" could use some work. Still did inspire us to do some new builds in our world.

Beautifully detailed and well organized. My one complaint with this book is that it is only 72 pages long. It was a bit sparse on parts that could have used additional explanation, and it would have been nice to see another 20-30 pages of ideas.

I loved the seacrets and it was fun to read with my brother
-
Fun castle ideas. Would have liked a bit more instructions/labels of what materials were used, but overall it was useful.
