3.5 Stars to Wild Bear Rescue Bears #2 by Scarlett Grove. This book is Shane and Lily's story. I enjoyed the premise but unfortunately the execution was flat. Both Shane and Lily ended up, in my opinion, being the antagonists of the book. I didn't blame Lily for one second for her attitude but Shane was an emotional disaster, a detriment to himself for sure. Because I enjoy shifter romances and the secondary characters were prominent to the story, I generously rated the 3.5.
In my opinion, this is definitely a series you'll want to read in order from the beginning. Having all the crew added to each book went a long way in making my reading experience better. Also, these books are short so my frustration levels were low. Having read the whole series by this point, Wild Bear was my least favorite. That said, I didn't hate it; just didn't love it.
The rescue bears of Fate Mountain are a group of best friends, a clan within themselves. They are ex Navy SEALs that work closely together forming the Fate Mountain Rescue crew led by their alpha, Levi. Aside from their search and rescue operation, each of the crew has their own separate talents. Shane just so happens to be a famous master chef. All his life he's had to look over his shoulder; being abused by his own stepfather turned Shane and his bear into uncontrollable beasts. While he has loved his childhood friend Lily for years, he believes he isn't good enough for her so he stays away.
After so many years of Shane leaving her, she has given up on them being mates. Her only care in the world now is her son. I thought Lily was a wonderful, protective mother. I absolutely hated what she had been dealing with on her own for so many years. When Shane comes back into her life, it isn't intentional. They both are signed up with a dating app that matches shifters with humans. It is because they matched on the app that they reconnected. I wonder if they would have ended up a family if it wasn't for the app.
There is no outside forces keeping this couple apart. Only themselves. But when they finally come together, their chemistry and bond is explosive. Because this book is a short one, I won't give any other details away.
There were a lot of editing errors and misspellings. Due to that issue, and the short 134 page length, I felt this book was overpriced at $2.99, which is what the price was at the time I purchased.
This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you foor taking the time to read it. :) -
Wild Bear vs the human
Lily had history with Shane but it was a painful tale of betrayal. Lily is lonely and looking for a father for her cub. Shane is damaged and broken. He fears he can't be with his true mate safely. Mates.com confirms what he knows in his heart yes, Lily is his fared mate. Great character driven story brings them back to each other. -
Handsome Hunky Troubled Bear Shifter
A Fated-Mate Left Behind
Can Love Prevail
Book 2 Of The Bear Rescue Series
STORY LINE:
Shane Keenan, grizzly bear shifter, world-famous chef and member of the Bear Rescue Team, is a troubled bear with little control over his bear. He has run from his troubled past, his fated-mate whom he knew from childhood, and life.
After serving in the human war, he spent a year in bear form in a cave. Now is he head chef for Levi at Fate Mountain Lodge. On a lark he fills out the Mate.com match form and of all things, his fated-mate is a match. Shane has known she was his fated mate for a long time as they grew up together.
Single mother, Lily, is working a low paying job for a mean, obnoxious, bigoted, employer. She lives with her son in a run down apartment, owns a wreck of a car, and does the best she can for her part-shifter grizzly bear son, Theo.
On the off-chance she can find help from a male shifter in raising her son, she applies to Mate.com. The only problem is she knows her fated-match. He is the love of her life and he works at Fate Mountain Lodge as head chef.
Come along with Shane and Lily as they traverse highs, lows, and problems as they journey to love. It is a wonderful journey.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, AND DEVELOPMENT:
Ms. Grove created characters scarred from their troubled abusive childhoods. Shane and Lily grew throughout the story. You will follow the back story of these two troubled people as they come to terms with their past, life, and each other to finally reach the summit of life and love. Ms. Grove's story-line was not an easy climb for Shane and Lily.
The plot was well done and the pacing never bogged down, lagged, or slowed. This book is filled with emotion and action. A crisis in the story-line will force Shane to face his bear. Will he gain the control he has never had over his bear? You will have to read the book to find out, no spoilers.
The attraction between Lily and Shane is explosive, hot, and steamy. The sex scenes are vivid and leap off the pages. The book does not depend on sex to sell the story-line. It is not sex for sex's sake, but love between two fated-mates.
This was an easy read which includes characters from the previous book as we follow the Rescue Bear Team through life and love. I look forward to the next book in this series. I can't wait until Ms. Grove pens Angus story.
RECOMMENDATION:
This book will appeal to anyone that enjoys a well written paranormal shifter romance novel. I recommend this book to young adults and adults due to explicit sexual content and language.
I received this book from the author in return for an honest book review.
Books reviews of any novel are dependent on the book review author’s opinion; book reviews on line and on my blog, are my opinion. -
Scarlett Grove has a wide range in which she can write. I didn't know if she could out do "Chief Bear", but of course she did. "Wild Bear" is totally amazing. The bar is set high now so she is going to have her work set out for her in the third book of the Rescue Bears. Of course, Shane and his crazy bear were one of my characters in the first book, so I was hoping Scarlett would do him next. Never dreamed she would do the story she did with Shane. Have to say I loved it though. A book you must read. You will not be disappointed.
A bad bear …

This is the second book in this book. They can be read as standalone books. I have read several of Scarlett’s books and always enjoy them. This book was no different. This book is fast paced and on the shorter side. This book is kind of a second chance romance. While the couple never technically dated before they were always together and liked each other in that way. Shane was a famous chef and one point but the shifter war and his upbringing have ended all that. Lily has always loved Shane but he is a runner. He has run twice and knows they will never be together. She moved back to fate mountain with her son because of the number of shifters that live there. She signed up for a shifter dating site hoping to find someone to love her and help with her son, Theo. Shane signs up for the site as well as a joke. Then he is matched with Lily as his fated mate which he already knew. But what he didn’t know was that Lily had a child, his child. The last time they saw each other they slept together and she got pregnant. Now he must decide if he wants to keep denying what he has known for a long time, that Lily is his fated mate. Will she give him another shot if he asks? Can Shane offer more than money to help with Theo? Theo knew with one sniff that Shane was his dad. He doesn’t understand all that has happened with his parents just that his wants to meet his dad and get to know him. So he does the most logically thing to him and runs away in hopes his dad will come find him. Will Shane be able to find Theo before something happens to him? Will Lily take another chance on Shane? This book was a great read. I really enjoyed it. Both Lily and Shane had difficult childhoods for different reasons. Shane worries that his bear will hurt Lily unintentionally. He has trouble controlling his bear sometimes. Will accepting his mate change all that? I look forward to reading more books in this series. Great job Scarlett.

Oh my! This episode of the rescue bears will bring you to tears, both from sorrow and from joy, as Lily and Shane find the means to recover from all of the past hurts and regrets. Lily is back in Fate Mountain, and desperate to find a shifter mate to help teach her son all he needs to know. She's been trying, but Lord knows she needs help. Thinking she could find a suitable mate on Mate.com, the new shifter/human dating sight geared to find your perfect match, she signs up. Little did she know just who she was destined to find there.
Shane is known as Wild Bear, as his ability to reign in his bear is almost non existant. He has had troubles with his bear since his youth, thanks mostly to the brutality of his step-father. He has known Lily was his fated mate since they first met in grade school, but has always vowed to protect her, even if that meant he had to stay clear of her. But maybe he's had it all wrong? Maybe, what his bear needs to heal, is the very person he needs to protect. Perhaps he needs her close in order to protect her, and heal at the same time. Especially now that there is a cub involved....his cub!
I absolutely loved this book, as well as the series so far. Can't wait for the next one! -
This cover does nothing for me. The look in the guy's eyes and his whole demeanor is a turn off. I wouldn't come near this man with a ten foot pole. I would be right, because Shane Keenan is an arrogant, selfish, and stupid man who is afraid of his own bear and has lost control of it over his own stupidity. He knows who his mate is and yet has one night fling with her then goes off to war and never contacts her again. Liz is dealing with the aftermath of that night and is trying to raise a shifter son with no clue of what to expect or do to help him. She goes on mate.com to find a shifter father for her son. Shane is shamed into signing up for mate.com by his rescue bears. The rest of the story writes itself. Personally, I am happy for Liz, but as for Shane. Liz could have done better! -
Wild Bear
Loved Wild Bear. Shane is the ultimate Shifter, he is a gorgeous, tattooed, Harley riding, ex Navy Seal and is a professional cook. His nickname is Wild Bear. Need I say anymore. Lilly is his fated mate. They have known eachother for years. Shane walked away six years ago, when they reconnect though Corey's online dating site , Can they put the past behind them and have a family together ? Or will Shane Wild Bear keep pushing her away ?
You will have to read Wild Bear to find out. Happy Reading!!! -

☆☆☆☆
This novella is about Lily and Shane aka Wild Bear.
Shane gets a visit from a blast from a past that has a huge secret. Lily never wanted to see Shane again but now he knows her secret she has a hard time moving on. Shane then jumps into a rescue that just might keep Lily around.
I loved this one. I was worried about Shane's story just because he is a loose cannon. However, we learn so much about him and I loved that he was able to connect with his bear to make it safe around others. This one also had some action involved so that was a plus for me. -
Lily has a secret that Shane doesn't know about
A broken bear and his fated mate. Some hot and sexy scenes. But not over the top. Shane and Lily meet in high school. They reconnect after both tried out the shifter dating site. Great story lines with plenty of banter back and forth. -
So I rated this book a 3 because the story just frustrated me. If they just communicated most of their issues wouldn't have been issues. Also Shane's turn around was whiplash fast and felt way too forced. I feel like there was a lot of potential for this one and a lot of the story was rushed.

KU Edition reader
Two souls with dark backgrounds, one works to overcome, the other is consumed and running. Will they ever be able to conquer and control their lives and issues? Read the story! -
Needs editing, but a sweet reunion romance
Lots of typos and sentences that could use tweaking. But this is another easy read in this series. Though I can't tell the difference between the different types of marking, I liked how things ended. -
Lily and Shane were broken souls who found solace being best friends. When Shane disappears on Lily, a secret is harbored until they cross paths years later. There's lots of angst, intensity, and a little suspense in their story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
