  Freedom Is not Free is one of the best written book by Shiv Khera. The concept of his prior thought is depicted in this book clearly, as title says with the freedom from Britishers in 1947 we are yet to receive.
  
  Freedom is Not free is really attractive title with his most inspirational quote that says, "winners don't do different things, they do the things differently." I am strongly agree with each statistical example that has been given by Shiv Khera in this book.

  This book is especially written and dedicated for Indian people by Shiv Khera ; however, this book perfectly resembles to all third world nations.
  
  Shiv Khera points out elements that are destroying third world countries and looming threat for democracy in such countries. Good thing about this book, personally I felt, that he not only points out problems in such societies but he addresses elements that triggers them. Mostly in the course of book he talks about corruption and call it "cancer" which is slowly destroying integrity, dignity, and respect for different states institutions. Everyone, from top to bottom, is somehow involve in corruption and people instead of respect, fear policemen and army. Judiciary decision slant towards power and out of fear and difficult process common people evade taking their case to court. Moreover, he presents solutions to all problems, which is good education that bring enlightenment and awareness, and dedication to our country - we shall always prioritise our nation before anything else.
  
  He makes this book engaging by adding different short stories according to the topic he's talking about. Those short stories makes book little easy to digest and accept bitter truth that are revolving all around us. Moreover, he quotes different influential and visionary people to make his solutions more sound. Sometime, especially in the beginning of book, he narrated his personal anecdotes and figures out that how common people in third world countries suffer from such issues that, often, prevails in third nation states.
  
  Apart from all above, he highlights Hindus' and negates other religions who are also in big numbers in India. In the whole book he mentions Muslims and Sikhs no more than ten times together (numbers isn't precise) and, for me, this is pure racist attitude. For this reason I'm giving him only two stars.

  Advice and advisors are easily available but execution is difficult. All talkers are not doers.
  
  One can achieve desired results if one can be solution focused, far-sighted and willing to translate his vision into action. This is called conviction. We must proceed with the assumption that a solution exists. All that we have to do, is to find it.
  
  The creativity and courage of one can save many.
  
  We need to learn that rules are made not to get in the way of the game and make it boring. In reality, rules make the game possible.
  
  Winners don't do different things, they do things differently.

  It has several compilations of facts and findings from different parts of the world. I feel like the book lacks insight of what it tries to tell us. It tries to motivate people of our country towards excellence. (It was probably a good book during the days before good & cheap internet).
  I read it in 2020, so i feel like the book became less relevant for me.

  This book doesn't appeal to me very much as you can win did. I left this book halfway as it was speaking too much of india could have been if and not if something had happened. I preferred to see from the present rather than looking towards the past.

  Awesome book with lot of stuff and many quotes where one keeps turning the pages even though it is a non fiction. I loved it and passed it on to my friend who is preparing for civil services. He is thanking me now.

  This non-fic gives an insight into the post Independence era of India! Love the way that Shiv Khera uses such a simple way of passing such strong messages!!

  Title deceived me at least. I considered it as a book in Self Development series and freedom as Economic Freedom. However book was quite patriotic work piece. Initially a little boring but it keeps you reading and get enormous information about state of masses in India.
