What you’re about to embark on is volume one of a five-part adventure through the fascinating world of the Maker Movement with protagonists that are rarely, if ever, written about nowadays: a married couple who actually like each other. We love the classic Dashiell Hammet series The Thin Man and wanted to bring that kind of fun and spirit into the contemporary world (without quite so much drinking). We’re also inspired by the Maker Movement, which seems to harness the best of what humanity has to offer. Combine the two and you have Design for Life which introduces the characters of Charlotte Sharp and David Velasquez. These allegedly witty, humble geniuses are about to unwittingly mess with the progenitors of a dark and vast reaching conspiracy.

At the helm of authorship here is Lauren A. Forry. Lauren has been writing short stories for Brick Moon Fiction for the past year or so (and killing it). Lauren earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Kensington University where she was awarded the Faber and Faber Creative Writing MA Prize for her first horror novel, The Compulsion. Her latest novel, Abigale Hall, a psychological thriller, will be released in spring of 2016 from Black & White Publishing. Follow her on Twitter @laurenaforry.
