Financing the End-to-end Supply Chain: A Reference Guide to Supply Chain Finance Reviews

Supply chain finance is a fairly complex and comprehensive area that can have very wide-ranging implications for a company. One suspects that many will be surprised to see just how far and wide its tentacles can extend and what risks or advantages may exist, dependent on a company’s ability to manage financial matters within its supply chain.

Probably the most visible and commonly understood part of supply chain finance is the cost of transport and ancillary items such as customs clearance. Here many companies try and press down the costs, whilst remaining oblivious to the broader picture and the importance of a strong strategic and financial relationship with all links within its supply chain. This book will educate and inform those who need this basic knowledge whilst giving the ability to polish and refine existing knowledge for the more-experienced.

It all made for enjoyable reading and it is surprising just how engaging a potentially “dry” subject such as this can be! The authors carefully mix together theory, practice and some of the latest research from the Cranfield School of Management and the result is this excellent book! Research into the financial aspects of supply chain management is a relatively new activity, so a practitioner should not necessarily feel bad for not fully understanding the implications and benefits that may exist. Of course, this book will help redress that area of knowledge and set you on track.

It was useful that real-world, practical examples were given for a “fake” company, so the reader can really follow the impact of supply chain finance. The book’s text was a bit wordy and academic at times, stuttering and slightly disjointed occasionally even, yet overall it was still good content that made any small issues fade into the background.

This is definitely a book worthy of closer consideration if you are involved within a company’s supply chain management. It can also be of benefit to general and financial management too.
