Emergency Engagement (Love Emergency, #1) Reviews

I am absolutely gutted to have to rate this book so low. When I first started this book I judged it based on the cover and assumed it was just some cheesy smutt-filled romance. However, I instantly fell in love with Beau and Savannah and was surprised by how good the story really was. I loved it so much I was positive that I would be giving it 4 stars and rave reviews. That is until we got to 84% and everything went to shit.

A little background, Beau and Savannah have been neighbors for the past 6 months. They're both attracted to each other but Savannah has a boyfriend and Beau is an introvert due to some tragic event that took place 3 years before. They greet each other in the halls but besides that they don't really speak. The blurb pretty much gives away the rest. She's recently broken up with a boyfriend and he wants to get his parents off his back about not moving on with his life and after a little misunderstanding he asks her to pretend they're engaged in front of his parents.

Fast forward, obviously they end up growing feelings for each other during this fake engagement. I know this plot has been done before but I just found both their characters so sweet that I couldn't stop reading it. Their chemistry was off the charts and Beau was really a sweetheart…until he wasn’t.

At 84% things took a major turn for the worst when Beau refused to allow himself to grow feelings for her or admit that he has had them this whole time. Now I was able to deal with this because I assumed okay he’d come around after some event forced him to confront his feelings but the way the author decided to do that KILLED the story for me.

Savannah WHAT THE EVER LOVING FUCK? His reaction was not only incredibly cruel it was also humiliating. How dare you speak to her like that when she did YOU a favor by being there for you and lying to her family for her because you wanted to make your parents feel better about you having “moved on” with your life!

Now even then I could have still possibly gotten past this horrible treatment of the heroine IF HE HAD FUCKING GROVELLED! I’m talking epic level on-my-hands-and-knees-crawling-over-hot-flames type of groveling. BUT NO WE DON’T GET THAT EITHER! She comes back to her apartment and he stops her in the hallway and says he does love her too but that he didn’t want to but he accepts them since there’s nothing he can do about it now. Oh geez, how romantic! So of course the heroine tells him she won’t stay because he doesn’t want to love her and he’s trapped by his feelings. I was really happy because I thought ok now we will get some great groveling but nope…still none.
He has a come to jesus moment and decides ok yeah he does want this and he doesn’t want to live in fear anymore and goes after her. BUT… if he hadn’t she would have gone after him and the only reason she doesn’t is because he gets to her first. WTF?! She realizes that she wasn’t being fair to him and wanted to go after him after the way he treated her?
Ugh..hell no. I have way too much pride to allow someone to humiliate me like that in front of tons of people and accuse me of manipulating them. Then telling me they don’t want to love me even though they do only to decide I should accept him for who he is and go after him. Oh hell no. The book ends right after he tells her he loves her and she instantly accepts.

I’m so sad to give this such a bad review because up until the 84% mark I absolutely loved it. Just goes to show you how one small detail can ruin a book.

Basically this book is about a guy called Beau who lost his wife and kid. He pretends to be engaged to his next door neighbour to keep his parents happy. I think you can guess where the story goes. Yea not happy with a certain storyline.

The reason why I'm a bit torn is because there was some parts that were face grinning and my heart did hurt a bit at the end. I did want them together so that counts for something.

    3.5 - "You've got yourself a keeper." Stars!

Emergency Engagement is the first book in Samanthe Beck’s new Love Emergency series. For the most part is was pretty enjoyable, I do however have to question whether it is being marketed under the correct Entangled imprint, in that I expect a Brazen read to be sexy-hot from the get go, and this was very much a sweet-simmer for most of the first half of the story.

    "You’re the catch. I’m the lost cause…"

"Nobody’s caught and nobody’s lost. We’re both works in progress."

That said, I liked the story that the author gave Savannah and Beau, I think it’s a book I would term as 'Predictably Enjoyable' because as soon as Beau pointed out exactly what it was he definitely wasn’t looking for due to past hurts, you just knew that is exactly what is going to end up happening between himself and Savannah.

"No need to dress up on my account."

As a couple were easy to get along with, the author offered up some great secondary characters as well, that I can only hope will have their stores told in future books, and the drama wasn’t overplayed which is always a big plus for me. The sexy-times (when they got going) were Sam's usual stellar quality, and it wasn’t a struggle to read, but you knew what was coming, how it was going to happen and what the resolution would be from very early on in the book.

"I give my best whenever I’m inside you. Nothing but my best… Or I find another way to make you come."

    Summary (from Goodreads):

    What I Liked:

I think this book lacked the Beck flair! There was something missing - a lot of things - and I kept waiting for the sparks that usually fill Beck's books. I LOVED her latest Brazen novel, Compromising Her Position, but I wasn't as taken with this new book. It was good, but not amazing, though I would recommend it to Beck and Brazen fans.

Savannah was expecting a proposal from her boyfriend of six months, as something to celebrate over Thanksgiving with her family. But instead, they break up. But her sexy neighbor shows up with her mail, and then her family shows up, and everyone thinks she and Beau are engaged. Beau isn't trying to be with anyone, let alone engaged, but his parents are in tears over the "engagement". They have wanted to see him happy for so long, so he and Savannah keep up the charade, and they plan to "break up" at New Year's. But what happens when they want the charade to become reality...

First, let me say that this book is hilarious. The tone of this book is so well-written, and downright hilarious. There is Southern charm woven into the book, and some great humor.

Oh Beau. Beau had my heart from the start. I've never read about a male protagonist in a romance novel with his past. I'm usually one to rolls my eyes at the overused "tragic past" trope, but THIS tragic past is something I'd yet to see in a romance novel. My heart broke for him so many times in this novel! The man has shut down emotionally for three years, and his parents have worried about him. Hence why they're super happy to find out that - surprise! - he's engaged. Beau is so rigid and strict and uptight, and the hot glass artist next door seems to be what he needs.

And something else that endeared Beau to me - he isn't one of the dirty-talking Brazen heroes that we're used to. He's an extremely straight-laced paramedic, noble and selfless and your modern day knight slaying dragons. I LOVED this change of pace! I want a Beau in my life. *winks*

Savannah is a vibrant, bubbly person, and she is exactly what Beau needed. She is caring and loyal and takes care of Beau, even if he thought he didn't need someone to take care of him. I also love her unique occupation! Glass-blowing isn't typically something you hear about in any novel.

There is a lot of chemistry between these two, but this is definitely one of Beck's more tame novels. This was a bit disappointing (more on this below), but the scenes that were present were pretty hot. Still, they lacked Beck's usual steaminess.

I won't say too much on the story itself because it heavily involves Beau's past, which I don't want to spoil, but I will say that the ending was happy. I wanted something of an epilogue, but I suppose we'll get cameos from this pair in the next novel (hopefully!).

    What I Did Not Like:

The biggest thing for me was the serious lack of heat in this book. There was like, two sex scenes? Come on, that isn't nearly enough for a Brazen novel, and certainly not a Samanthe Beck novel. The first one was pretty steamy but the rest were kind of mediocre.

Can I just say how annoyed I got, with Savannah's parents and Beau's parents? Believe me, I totally understand wanting to please your parents and make them happy. But there is a line! Beau and Savannah go too far in this lie, and let their parents go way to crazy with wedding planning and shopping for wedding dresses, etc. It kind of drove me CRAZY! You wouldn't spend a bazillion dollars on a wedding when you know you engagement is fake, right?

I did not like The Big Twist at the climax. It felt like a cop-out, especially given Beau's past and how it relates to The Big Twist. I didn't like how The Big Twist kind of forces Beau and Savannah together. It didn't make the happy ending feel as nicely happy - it made it feel a little rushed and forced. I can't say too much without spoiling The Big Twist, but trust me, the ending didn't feel authentic.

I also didn't like how Beau was the one who had to throw in all the effort, and Savannah does nothing... after all the groveling the man did, he literally changes certain things for her too, and she's just over there not even apologizing for being somewhat selfish?! Not okay.

Something was missing in this book. I usually love Beck's novels, but this one wasn't all there.

    Would I Recommend It:

You know, despite me giving this book three stars, I'd probably still recommend it. It's a decently good romance novel, and it was never boring to me. But being the Beck fan that I am, I expected more, and better, I suppose. Especially in the heat department! But also in terms of the ending. While it is happy, I didn't like how it came about.

    Rating:

2.5 stars -> rounded up to 3 stars. Mostly because I had little trouble reading this book - it was the ending that really made me irritated. It sucks to leave a book with that kind of feeling, especially when the ending in general is a happy one. But still, this book wasn't all bad, and I'll probably look into reading the sequel(s) to this one.

A sexy touching emotional tale of finding love a second time around!!! Samanthe Beck has once again charmed her readers with this beautiful and emotional tale of unexpected love. I have always been a fan of Samanthe Beck and in her newest release Emergency Engagement, Ms. Beck tugs all the right amount of sexiness and emotions to make hearts swoon as readers fall in love with the story of Beau Montgomery and Savannah Smith.

photo fb52f1fa547443d5e72e27eabb03d1_zpsn7idebb0.gif“She couldn’t pinpoint the moment when she’d lost the battle to keep her emotions on a safe path, but she had. She’d fallen, and there wasn’t a thing in the world she could do to reverse course, even knowing he’d sooner cut out his heart than risk loving again. Hopefully her heart was more resilient. Hopefully she could be here for him while , he needed her, and then find the strength to get on a plane and move on with her life.”

Emergency Engagement was your fun, fresh, and emotionally charged romance. Beau Montgomery never expected to find himself engaged to his sexy neighbor, Savannah when he decided to bring over her misplaced mail that was delivered to his apartment. Surprised to see a stranger in her apartment, Savannah accidentally hurls a paint can and hits Beau in the head. Well if Savannah thought her day couldn't get any worst, Savannah was taken aback when her parents thought Beau was her fiance since she told her sister that she was expecting an engagement from the man she was seeing. Not only does her parents think she is engaged to Beau but also Beau's parents as well when they stumbled upon Savannah's parents in the apartment complex.

    #EmergencyEngagement

So when Beau and Savannah are in the ER, Beau suggests to her to keep up the charade of their pretend engagement so his parents wouldn't worry about his love life. He suggests that they can call off their engagement after the New Years. Sounds like an easy plan. But nothing is that simple when feelings and attractions are involved. And for Beau and Savannah, their lie turned out to be the biggest truth. The truth that they are falling in love for each other. So in this case of emergency love, can Savannah make Beau realize that love is about taking a chance and letting someone in? Or will Beau's fear of falling in love again be his downfall? Can this love between them be resuscitated? Or will they be finding themselves in a love affair that is on its way to flatline?

photo fb52f1fa547443d5e72e27eabb03d1_zpsn7idebb0.gif“You’ve in love with this strong, independent, don’t-rely-on-anyone man.”

I absolutely adored this sweet and sexy second chance romance. Samanthe Beck knew what strings to pull when it comes reviving a broken heart. For Beau Montgomery, falling in love again is a painful reminder of what he lost. Not only did he lose a wife but also his baby daughter in a fatal accident. So the memories of loving again makes him fearful. He never expected to fall hard in love again. But Savannah Smith was able to make his heart beat once again. She brought color in his monotone life. And also one thing he never expected. LOVE. So if you are ready to get lost in the world where a paramedic might discover that he might be the one needing resuscitation when it come love, then I highly recommend you to read Emergency Engagement.

I really really loved this fun, sexy book. Can't wait for the next one! I'm a Sam Beck fan and it has nothing to do with the fact that I happen to love her as a person. She also writes fabulous books. :)

Emergency Engagement is an enjoyable enough read with likeable characters, but as someone who has read a lot from the Brazen imprint it didn't hit the mark by ways of passion and steamy content; 40% in and there'd been nothing more than a public kiss between the couple in question. To me, this was more in-line with what I would expect from Entangled's Lovestruck imprint as it has a meet-cute vibe throughout.

"I had no idea paramedics were so stingy with the mouth-to-mouth."

If you're looking for a dirty-talker, Beau isn't that. He's the strong-silent type with a flirty streak and that suited me fine. But he's also experienced personal tragedy, is still dealing with the grief and insecurities that come with it and Beck did a superb job in keep this aspect real. Savannah is literally the girl next door; sweet and loyal but with a feisty streak. Together they had a natural chemistry which brought some humour and whilst low on steam, what we were given was passionate and intimate.

"I’m about to give you your third orgasm of the night."

But, overall, something was missing and considering all the build-up between Beau and Savannah, the ending fell flat, with their situation coming across forced and rushed. Whilst it definitely had similar notes of Beck's earlier Brazens in terms of character likeability and down-to-earth personas, it needed more; the foundations were there but it lacked pizzazz.

This is a sexy, emotional, funny story, about two neighbours who get entangled in a fake engagement when a misunderstanding makes their families (both arriving for Thanksgiving dinner) assume that they have just committed to tying the knot. While that might seem farfetched, it's cemented by the fact that they were childhood neighbours too, so the parents know each other and think it's perfectly normal for them to have fallen for each other as adults. Beau and Savannah are in a bind, not wanting to disappoint their parents who are so obviously pleased with what has happened, and the couple agree that they'll pretend it's all legit until Savannah leaves for Italy on an art scholarship in January. Except, those ties that bind get tighter as they become friends and lovers. But will they be enough to overcome the challenges of a man not willing to risk his heart and a woman with her own plans for the future?

I loved this story! We learn right away that Beau has some pretty significant reasons for being single, having lost his young wife and daughter in an accident a few years earlier and cutting himself off emotionally from having another relationship. So when his mother, recently diagnosed with cancer, is overjoyed at the idea that he's found a new love, he can't stand to break her heart by telling her that the engagement to his sexy apartment neighbour is all a misunderstanding and convinces Savannah to play along. And with an obvious end date if Savannah accepts the chance to work on her glass blowing skills in Italy, she agrees. While the story has some emotional overtones ( and there were some parts, particularly near the end that brought tears to my eyes - you'll know them when you get there), it's got an overall lighthearted theme and doesn't dwell on the angst. There are lots of humorous moments, and some great scenes with Savannah and her sister, as well as Beau and his paramedic teammate Hunter. Also, I loved how strong Savannah's character is. She's been recently dumped by a man who wasn't good enough for her anyway, and is not eager to enter into a deep relationship either. So sex with Beau? Her pretend fiance? Well, why not! And indeed, we get some super sexy scenes between the two of them (the one in the glass blowing studio? Hot hot hot!). The story moves at a good pace, and we get a lovely happy ending for the couple after they work out all their kinks (no, not that kind). This story is a great example of what I expect from this author, and from the Brazen line. I can't wait to read more in this series! 5 stars.

He watched her hands as she worked, and her lips, mesmerized by the assurance with which she finessed the delicate balance between air and gravity. Mesmerized…and turned on. Her fingers danced along the metal shaft, and he imagined those deft fingertips touching his skin. She closed her lips around the end of the pipe, pursing them slightly to ensure a tight seal, and his cock begged for the same treatment.
    No complications.
What’s so complicated about two consenting adults tearing the clothes off each other and fucking until they can’t stand?

Uh-uh. No way. This was not an argument he was going to have with himself. She inspired a dangerous mix of gratitude, affection, and lust, but they’d be better off not blurring the boundaries of their arrangement with a physical relationship. That was not the plan.

Emergency Engagement is the first book in Samanthe Beck's new Love Emergency series.

Savannah Smith is excepting a proposal this Thanksgiving... only she didn't get it from the man she was excepting it from. A misunderstanding with her parents extends to her neighbor's parents, has Beau Montgomery asking her to play along until after the holidays so he stops disappointing his parents.

I don't want to get to much into the detail's of this book, because most of it is dealing with issues Beau has from his past, but I found once you find out the why's of Beau's desire to fake this engagement, the book became kind of dull and predictable for me. I didn't feel any "heat" or intensity between Savannah and Beau. I also didn't like the lengths they went to to make their parent's really believe in their lie...

This book was just below "okay" for me.

The recipe for my kind of perfect book = Engagement of Convenience + Tangible Lust + Unexpected love. And to put the cherry on top, add in an unexpected pregnancy. You can never go wrong with this recipe. 3.5 stars for Beau & Savannah!

Emergency Engagement was a well written & heartfelt read.

I was drawn into Beau & Savannah's love story from the first page, I didn't want to put it down.
Both lead characters were likable, relatable, they made me laugh, swoon, cry, frustrated and at the end I was left with a heart full of happy feels.

I really love Samanthe Beck's stories, she always creates sweet and sexy romances with great characters and lots of humour and that's exactly what I was expecting from Emergency Engagement. In a lot of ways that's exactly what you get too, it starts off really well and the circumstances that lead to Savannah and Beau's families finding them in a compromising position were hilarious. I did find it a little hard to believe that the pair would be so quick to go along with a fake engagement considering they'd never even had a proper conversation before but it was fairly easy to ignore that considering how much chemistry they had and how well they got on.

Savannah is a free spirited artist, she's bright, colourful and lives life to the fullest. She's nobody's doormat so when her (ex)boyfriend treats her badly she has no problem walking away knowing that she deserves better. She immediately gained my respect for that and she was definitely the kind of girl you'd want be friends with. I loved the little hints we got to see about her work as a glass artist and really wanted to see more of that side of her life. Beau is brilliant, he's smart, funny and caring but he's not controlling and he is nothing like some of the alpha arseholes we've been seeing so much of lately. He has a really sad backstory that was pretty heartbreaking and I thought his reactions to things (until right at the very end of the book) were very realistic considering everything he'd been through. After suffering the worst kind of heartbreak he has closed himself off to the idea of a relationship, he's scared of getting hurt again and keeps everyone at a distance. He's definitely a protector though, you can see it every day in the way he deals with patients as a paramedic but also in the way he looks out for his parents and also Savannah. Savannah doesn't need someone to rescue her though and it was nice to see someone turn the tables on Beau and be the one looking after him for a change.

I actually loved these two as a couple, they fit together really well and I enjoyed the connection between them both in and out of the bedroom (although I'll admit I was expecting a little more spice considering this is a Brazen book!). What let down the story for me was the "twist" at the end, it was something I saw coming from a million miles away and I'd spent a lot of the book praying it wouldn't happen so I was incredibly disappointed when the story was so predictable. I guess I'm just sick of that particular plot device so perhaps it won't bother other people as much as it bothered me but it definitely knocked a star off my rating. I still love Samanthe Beck's writing though and I'm looking forward to reading more in this series. I'm hoping we'll get a book about Beau's paramedic partner Hunter and I'd also like to see more of Savannah's sister Sinclair.

  • Valerie

I've been reading a lot of paranormal romance but this one called to me. I adore pretending stories. Nothing like thinking you can handle being kissed by a sexy guy but you end up falling for him. So I picked this one up. And I'm so glad I did.

A quick read, I just didn't want to put it down. Both of these characters have been hurt emotionally. One much worse than the other but neither of them want a relationship. But when a misunderstanding has their parents believing they are engage, Beau doesn't have the heart to clear up the issue. For the first time in a long time, his parents aren't looking at him with worry in their eyes. It will only be for the holiday's. They deserve that. Little does he know that opening his very shattered heart even enough to pretend to care for Savannah, has him falling for her in a fierce way.

These characters spoke to me. Pretending stories can be hit or miss with the way the pretend is set up. If it's ridiculous then I'm just shaking my head at them. But these two literally fell into this pretend. And it worked for me. Because it fits Beau's personality. And I so love Beau! He's an EMT and he has that protective, want to help vibe going. He finds ways to help. It's who he is.

Savannah is an artist who apparently isn't good enough for the rich guy she's been dating, well not good enough to marry anyway. Her eccentric artistic side is fun and I enjoyed getting to know her. I loved how much and how quickly she fell for Beau. She saw the guy he was and her heart melted. I just loved that.

Sexy! Dang these two are hot together. It shouldn't surprise anyone that this book is steaming hot, it's a Brazen. But as soon as these two decided they might as well enjoy the chemistry between them, they were toast. No going back for them. And I was cheering that they could figure out a way to get past the pain of the past and find a happy in the present.

Good stuff. This book is good stuff and the first contemporary I've really enjoyed in quite a while. I needed it. I enjoyed it. And it brought me out of my contemporary slump.

If you're looking for that really good contemporary to get lost in for a few hours, then this is the one to pick up.

Beck is so fun. Christmas, a fake romance, a sexy EMT? Oh lordy, yes, please!

The Gist: It's Christmas and Beau's parents? Well, they've just found him in his neighbor's bedroom coping a feel. I mean, that's what they think they've found (it's totally not) and they're..ecstatic! And Beau decides to ask his neighbor-- who's a stranger-- if she'll, you know, be his fake fiance for the holidays just to ease their minds a little more.

Yeah, I loved Beau. He's a sexy broody hero who's past haunts him. But he's kind hearted even if he tries to ruthlessly protect that very heart from breaking ever again. And Savannah is... lively. She's a free spirit, creative and just full of life.

The two were really sweet together. She needed someone who supported and believed in her. He needed someone to help heal his heart from loss. There were some hard moments as he dealt with his past. And some fun ones as they spent time together. But things weren't always perfect and there were some real ugly moments that had me worried. And, whew, the sexy. Yeah, they had nice chemistry and a sparkling dynamic. Made it so much fun.

Now. I did have some issues. Mainly there was a LOT happening in less than 4 weeks time (Thanksgiving to Christmas) and sometimes the timeline really wasn't realistic or believable especially when a surprise popped up. I think the story would have been better suited to a 2 month time period, really. And I didn't like how he found out her surprise and others not realizing how much it would upset him.

Overall, though, Emergency Engagement was a sexy little read that'll heat up the holiday season.

Savannah Smith is recently getting over a break up that she thought would end up as an engagement. When asked to be a “side chick”, she immediately throws the one-for-three out and begins to purge everything about him from her life. In comes Beau Montgomery. Beau has had a pretty rotten go with relationship, losing his first wife and child, and now just kind of lays low when it comes to women. Until sweet Savannah crashes into his life. Their “first” encounter had me seriously giggling from the beginning.

When trying to recover from a concussion with a paint can to the head, in walk both set of parents, who are expected to meet their children in their respective apartments (conveniently right across from each other) and realize that they are long lost neighbors and friends. I loved the connectedness of the families from the very beginning.

In comes the big idea to have their engagement “sham” to appease both sets of parents. Why go through another holiday season with the inevitable “hook up” questions and suggestions of a mate? And already, Savannah had been talking to her sister about The One, assumptions are made, BOOM, happily engaged! The set up was brilliant, the characters were spot on, and this was a super sweet read that had me swooning throughout. I loved this read and LOVE that there are wonderful secondary characters that are discussed throughout that could lead to their own stories!!

    Blurb:
He needs the kind of rescue only she can provide…

Glass artist Savannah Smith expected a marriage proposal for Thanksgiving—just not from her strong, silent, super-hot neighbor. But when misplaced mail and a wayward can of paint lands them in a compromising position right as her family arrives for dinner, they assume he’s “The One” she’s been talking about.

    Then his family shows up.

Fate dealt a crippling blow to paramedic Beau Montgomery’s heart, and he isn’t about to put it at risk again. Except, with his mother crying tears of joy over his surprise engagement to the sexy little blonde next door, he can’t bring himself to ruin her “Christmas miracle.”

Somewhere between the paint can to the head and the chaotic family trip to the ER, Beau manages to talk Savannah into being his fake fiancée long enough to survive the holidays.

If, of course, they don’t fall in love first…

The Samanthe Beck I love so much is back with Emergency Engagement. From the very beginning, I was in my element with a hero and heroine I loved. When you’ve read all of an author’s books, you can’t help but have favorite characters all others get compared to. I’m a huge fan of Samanthe’s McCade Brothers series. I’m happy to say Beau Montgomery ranks up there as one of my favorite heroes.

The premise of Emergency Engagement isn’t anything new. It’s a fake engagement storyline. However, Samanthe has managed to add a little twist to the story. Beau Montgomery and Savannah Smith are characters you can’t help but love. They bring heat to their relationship, but also a friendship they weren’t expecting to find.

Beau has a tragic past that stops him from moving forward. His world isn’t completely dark and bleak. He just doesn’t seem to live his life to the fullest and doesn’t make true connections. Beau doesn’t think a happy-ever-after is in the cards for him. Savannah is a shining light and positive force in his life.

Savannah is a strong heroine who takes the hits life throws at her and keeps moving. After the supposed love of her life admits he wants her to be the other woman, she has to figure out how to move on. Savannah is funny and caring and definitely ready to find her happy-ever-after, with or without a significant other.

Beau and Savannah meet or at least finally have a true conversation in a romantic comedy heaven kind of way. What happens next is what romance dreams are made of. I have to admit the story brought tears to my eyes. I could feel the characters’ pain, making it easy to rejoice in their happiness. The secondary characters are great as well. I loved Savannah’s sister, Sinclair. But I am already in love with Beau’s best friend, Hunter, who happens to be the hero of the next book. The Love Emergency series definitely has the makings to make it one of my favorite series.

My 5-Facts Review ('Cuz I'm lazy busy reading):

    EMERGENCY ENGAGEMENT BY SAMANTHE BECK
    ★★★★☆ (4 stars)
    ________________________________

You can trust Samanthe Beck to always deliver the most heartwarming romance! I've read every single book by this author and LOVED all of them. She writes characters' chemistry like a pro!

✔ I loved the premise of the book. After reading the synopsis I couldn't wait for the release. Sexy paramedic guy, fake engagement - which is one of my favorite tropes -,... I seriously couldn't wait!

✔ At the beginning of the novel, I was a bit worried because I did not fall in love with the characters right away. But as their affection grew gradually for each other, my love for them did as well, and I found myself turning the pages without blinking. Which is amazing, because finding an interesting book can be often challenging after reading so many books.

I loved Beau and I loved Savannah. Both of them are great, strong characters!

I'm rating the book 4 stars instead of five for its predictability. There weren't any surprises for me in the storyline, but despite that the book was super enjoyable without too much unnecessary drama.

On the surface this book appears to be pretty cute, funny and sexy, now while all of that is true there is also depth especially pertaining to what the hero goes through. Beau and Savannah's journey isn't easy most especially when it comes to his past but I enjoyed it all the same. Even that one particular incident coming to end of the book that he handles with the finesse of a goat, that made me want to smack him upside his head and he doesn't do nearly enough groveling for (to me liking) I still ended up forgiving him. While I wished for a little more from the ending it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the book. In fact I can't wait for the next book in the series I really it features Hunter.

All in all I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it.

Beau Montgomery goes over to his next door neighbor, Savanna Smith's, place on Thanksgiving day to ask her to lower the music before his family arrives for the holiday dinner. But a shocking mishap has them telling their shocked family that they are engaged. Both have their reasons for the deception and both have a reason to not want to fall in love... but they do.

It's just that Savannah's supposed to leave for a fellowship in Europe at the end of the year and Beau has emotional history that's kept him from moving forward. So when a surprise develops from their situation, they must dig down deep and find out what they really want and what means the most to them.

It was a sweet story. It started out with some meet-cute/funny moments, but soon became more stayed. It just leveled out to be a typical romance.

I am interested to read the next book about Beau's partner, Hunter.

Really enjoyed this book. Looking forward to the next in the series, which Im guessing it will be Beau's best friends story.

3.5 Stars. This was a solid 4 star maybe even 4.5 star book for me until about the 80% point. Let me explain. Some fake engagement stories are just silly and some are funny or cute but most just aren't very realistic. What I loved about this one was that they didn't set out to lie to everyone. There was no plot that they wanted to tell everyone they were engaged. Due to a series of circumstances, which actually seemed believable both their families were under the mistaken assumption that the two were engaged. It was at this point Beau convinces Savannah to go along with it. He has his reasons and they are actually understandable. Savannah struggles a bit with the choice since she does not like lying to her family or his but she gives in for the benefit of Beau and his family. Of course the two have amazing chemistry and they start to become more than fake fiances. I really loved this whole part of the book. It was fun and flirty and I really felt the chemistry between the two of them. Beau didn't want to admit he was really falling for Savannah but it's a romance so I knew something would make him come around. However, I HATED the plot used to make this happen and his reaction to this plot twist even more. So while I loved the first 80% of this book I really didn't like the last 20% of the book and ended up with a 3 star rating.

What a pleasant steamy well-written surprise!!!

Fake engagements are always such a fun trope to read, watching people fall in love while pretending to be in love.

I think this author did a great job of delivering a believable and entertaining story. It was full of witty conversation, easy to love and root-for characters, pulled on your heart strings in the right places, was able to describe the heroine's artwork and the hero's EMT works without getting tedious and boring, started with infusions of steam and lust but never went overboard in trying to be a pornfest of inner dialogues. And I never got the impression of insta-love, the story was perfectly paced.

Plus, I think it helped that this story was NOT told in the first person.

I was actually give book 3 in the series as an ARC, but started it, got intrigued by the the mention of the hero for book 2, whilst they were at the wedding of the couple from book 1, decided I wanted to read them, and since I get twitchy if i don't read in order a series that I plan on reading them all, I started with book 1.

Have to say, I struggled to get into it to start, the premise for the fake engagement was a bit silly and I struggled with the heroine a bit.

However, I soon got into it and ended up really liking the heroine and hero.

Really liked the hero's best friend (who is the hero in the 2nd book, yay!) and the heroine's sister.

Overall, it was a lovely, emotional love story that had me shedding a tear or two.

    An enjoyable 4 stars.

This story started a little slow, but thankfully it picked up after the 30% mark. It was deeper than I was expecting, I was pleasantly surprised with the angst.

I won't read this one again, but overall I enjoyed it. Another good Entangled romance.

While reading the synopsis, I hoped this book has a lovely story with spicy romance. But I didn't get the love connection between them. Also, I don't like the writing.
