Little Cottontail Reviews

Ah, that familiar moment when a child listens to their mother the first time, and the lesson immediately saves the child’s life. Maybe not... This is definitely the stuff of fairytales for us humans, but it’s a good example for young children, wrapped in a cuddly bunny story with a little bit of excitement.
Mother Tongue notes: There are excellent drawings of several North American forest animals (New World porcupine, American robin, woodchuck/groundhog).
Excellent variety of verbs. This is a fun story to have students act out, or replace the verbs in a mad libs style activity. -
This book makes me so happy! My book plate is inside the front cover, and my mother wrote,

This is a very special and sentimental book about a bunny and a mother’s love… ❤️ 🐰 -

I do like the story, although the way it is written feels as though it is supposed to rhyme, but it doesn’t - not often anyway, which was very frustrating.

This book is fantastic. A little bunny is excited to grow up but his mother reminds him of all the things he must know. He listens carefully and tries to be patient and then the most important lesson of all, how to avoid foxes, ends up being put to the test. Little Cottontail did learn his lessons and proves that he is ready to be a grown-up bunny. It's a little book full of sweet virtues, just perfect for little ears and eyes.

A Little Golden Book from my youth, re-read as an adult. I can understand why this one is still in print--cute bunny illustrations and a nice family-centered moral. Even a bit of tension at its peak!

This has a totally cute, fuzzy little baby bunny in it. I swear the illustrations are as darling as the real thing. Only those who prefer foxes might object to this book.

I loved this book as a child and still love it; my first grader is so-so about it but will let me read it to him.
