Martial Power: A 4th Edition D\u0026D Supplement (D\u0026D Rules Expansion) Reviews

I have to admit that when this book first came out, I thought it was a ridiculous cash grab from WotC. As a result, I never really gave it a proper read through until now.
This is actually an excellent book. Usually, books filled with powers and feats are not particularly exciting to read, but Martial Power is an exception. There is a significant amount of flavor text included with the powers and the paragon paths are filled with information about myths and legends of the D&D world. Overall, it ended up being a really enjoyable read.
Impressively, there isn’t much in the way of power creep here which defied my expectations. As a cash grab, surely it would be filled with bigger and better powers in order to encourage players to buy it. But that isn’t so - the powers and feats here are definitely on par with the PHB. There are some very specific feats that are substantially more powerful, but they require things like “Drow Beastmaster Ranger,” etc. -
The power creep doesn't seem too obscene yet (aside from the epic destiny that makes you completely immortal), but the very existence of this book full of additional menu items saddens me. On the other tentacle, WoW players will be gratified to be able to play hunters now.
