The Committee is a beguiling tale that twirls Illuminati conspiracy, New Orleans voodoo, American politics and a subplot gay affair in a delicious twist of turbulence and turmoil. We find out that the secret society behind the country's biggest political ploys is a mysterious New Orleans family of Creole women who head "The Committee." It is they who in fact control the men mistaken to be the country's power figures! "The Committee" has selected every US president since James Monroe and controls much of the country's economy. When they make the decision that the United States is not only ready for a Black woman president, but also select her, the phrase, 'hell hath no fury like a woman scorned' takes on new and insidious meaning.

Camille Ernestine Hardaway is the first African American female mayor of Los Angeles and she has it all - stunning good looks, power, a seemingly devoted husband and influential allies. "The Committee" has decided that she will be the first Black female president of the United States and will stop at nothing to ensure their rising candidate reaches the White House. Author Terry E. Hill sublimely works hypnosis with the written word as he winds the reader deeper down a sinister black hole with each chapter. The Committee's lethal combination of manipulation, intimidation, mysticism and murder make for the most intoxicating political thriller.

At first glance there are several reasons I wouldn't choose to read "The Committe". First it's over 300 pages, secondly politics is weaved through the story and it's a trade paperback book. But this was one of the best I've read so far in 2016 and for such a time as this it put a lot of perspective on many of my questions leaving this reader wondering what if?

Hill has moved from the church in his previous title Come Sunday Morning to the Mayor's office and Mayor Camille Hardaway's people ain't playing. They want her in the white house at any cost.
Power, prestige and influence are the elements that make this an exciting read, but then Hill takes it to another level by throwing in voodoo, murder and intimidation.
What an outstanding read and if you haven't caught up with this author, I encourage you to do so

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. This read grabbed me and never let me go. The story flowed smoothly and the characters were easy to follow. I didn’t notice any grammatical errors and it was typeset for the kindle. The back and forth with the history helped set the scenes for the modern day was intriguing. I am hoping there will be a part 2 to see where the characters go and if the protagonist learns her identity. I am a first-time reader of Terry’s work & I am highly impressed.

Illuminati women turn out to be all related and every man is gay

Beautiful people, heartless social climbers, out-of-check political aspirations, secret societies and magic = The American voting system. The fun here is the beautiful people and the nasty things they do. The heart can still be found in those fortunate enough to enjoy true love, so naturally danger abounds. No matter what your politics, you will recognize these up and comers. But it’s the voodoo, that Hill do, so well.
