The Complete Walt Disney World 2017 Reviews

    5 Solid Stars!

Out of all the Disney World travel guides out there, this one is my absolute favorite. My family is part of the Disney Vacation Club and roughly every other year we all go as an entire family. Each time we go, since Julie and Mike (a husband and wife team) have been writing this guide I have bought not only to see what is new but also has a keepsake to look back on and remember the excellent times we have as a family going to Disney each time. While I have reached for other Disney World guidebooks and have gotten good information from those as well, I always come back to this guide and get everything I wanted without being overwhelmed or underwhelmed. The Neals hit Disney right on target without being overly done. I have used the ridiculous packed "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" in the past, but I completely skipped it this year. Is is a great resource? Sure. But it way to large to bring with you on the actually trip. Must people want to bring a travel guide that is full of information rather than having your guide book fill up your carry-on causing precious packing space to be consumed. "The Complete Walt Disney World 2017" guide is only 1/2'' thick making it packable and informative.

This is the Neal's 10th anniversary edition and it does not disappoint. Julie is a former Disney castmate, which gives her the expertise to really know the ins and outs of the parks and how to utilize them to your best advantage. Mike takes the majority of the pictures in this book and also designs it. What sets the Neals apart from other Disney centric tour guides is that it has a ton of pictures, not just a few 'money' shots of the parks, rather it is chock full of bright and candid shots of the entire theme parks and resorts. Their pictures really do stand out from other publications because they are taken solely by the authors. The pictures are beautifully taken while being really authentic in spirit. Which I love.

This is big enough to get all the information you need inside and out but also being compacted enough to be able to stick it in your bag to read while on the plan or in the car on the way to Disney to go over again what you expect to get down. I bring this with us each trip and often grab for it when I need to remember a certain fact or whatever. This is not a one and done kind of guide… you will use it multiple times before your trip, during and maybe even after before you get the next edition for the next trip!

This guide offers well written reviews for each room, ride, shop, and food joint with honest opinions without being ridiculous. They are very diplomatic without being overly critical. They will let you know if a ride may be too intense for little ones in terms of scariness and/or queasiness for riders of all ages.

Want to locate hidden Mickeys and find out interesting facts? Almost every square inch of the parks are covered in this guide giving Disney fans a chance to find those tricky hidden Mickeys and you will be able to rattle off cool facts about each attraction to your fellow travel mates impressing them with the info you find in this book.

Long story short… love this guide and will purchase again for future trips as I have done multiple times in the past. Excellent Disney World guide that is spot on. I highly recommend this travel guide for anyone who is a first time Disney goer or a 100th time visitor who may want to find out some facts that they may not know of. I know that no matter how many times I have gone to Disney if on vacation or even when I worked for Disney in my college years… I always learn something new from the Neals each time!

Good, solid guide to WDW. Perfect for the newcomer ans still fun for a seasoned passholder.

This makes me excited to go to Disney World! Nice color photographs. I will bring it out again closer to our trip.

Lots of great info in this book! However the index was incorrect for at least a few things I looked up. The content is very good though!

  • Meghan Geary

The photos are great as are the detailed descriptions of the rides, but the index is entirely wrong; doesn't match a single page in this edition. I also found it lacking in detail about things other than the rides/attractions.
