In Love with Ezra (Love Unaccounted Book 2) Reviews

  • Elle1986

I have started typing this review four times.. for some reason I just can't get the words right... but I am going to try really hard AND I am going to attempt to do it without spoilers.. HOWEVER if I can't.. I of course will let you know when to look away.. or if not you might be "Spanked" with more insight than needed hehe.

Now Love Belvin... first I would like to let you know that you are beyond talented and I truly have enjoyed Lex and Ezra thus far... however... I felt completely mind f****ed for a minute... and for that.. I THANK YOU! It doesn't happen often but when it does... WHEW!

Okay okay now for the review... Ezra is so much alpha freaking male that sometimes it's overwhelming. I found myself getting frustrated with his character just a little.. Now before you go in on me.. let me explain.. Ezra is clear in his walk, he knows exactly what his purpose is, he can read people very well, he understands things that most wouldn't, his vision is clear.. Yet he couldn't quite see what was directly in front of his face, what his wife was pouring out.... lol actually thinking about it.. we never see what is directly in front of our faces... thanks again Love Belvin for causing my mind to be overstimulated this late at night lol. ( I can't really say too much more without spoiling things so I will leave it there).. know that Erza is a one of a kind Character.. he is very easy to get wrapped up into..

I actually called my bf and asked if it was a sin to lust over a book pastor LOL!!!!!!!!

Lex.. I found growth in lex in this book, some of the situations where I was waiting for her to pop off... he handled rather smoothly... SOMETIMES...I think to completely tone her down would be changing who she is completely as a character and quite frankly.. I kinda like the mouthy lex.. most of the time.. she has her cringe worthy moments but hey don't we all?.

Sigh.. this book had a little of everything... now I wait for the next one.. actually I am in no hurry my brain is overwhelmed I think spring 2016 gives me sometime to regroup!

So I will of course recommend this book to everyone.. I actually already have LOL.

Signing off... To sandbox or not to sandbox... that is the question.

Whew baby ish got real in book 2. The birds were flocking and the heaux’s were in rare form. This review is directed to them!

Precious- the desperate heaux - sis how many ways does Ezra need to tell you he don’t want you! You’re embarrassing yourself at this point!! 🗣️EZRA PICK A LANGUAGE AND GET THIS HEAUX IN LINE!!!

Marva- an OLD desperate heaux - Mary just sock her in her eye one good time for playing in your face for 40 years. The entitlement and the way she plays in everybody’s face is appalling. She had all of the audacity and I need someone to put her in her place!

Nyree - THE ULTIMATE hatin aśś heaux - count your mf days Nyree because we coming for you in book three!!

Ezra and Lexi have some serious work to do as well! The chemistry is fire in the sandbox but I need y’all to get it together in the real world!! Ezra don’t disappoint me I have faith in you Pastah!! Love thank you for not stressing me all the way out now wrap this up and tie it with a bow.

What a WILD, FUN, and UNPREDICTABLE ride! I was at the edge of my seat the entire read-- cussing out characters, being shocked by revelations, clutching my pearls at how far it went...and yet unable to look away!! As usual, I have no idea where the story is going and the characters are so flawed I have no idea how they could possibly redeem themselves in the end. This is the thing I have come love about Love Belvin's novels. This series continues to be an enthralling read. I hope you all are ready to stay up way too late reading. :)

  • Kameel

    WOW….Lex

Lex’s revelation saved this part of the book for me…because truthfully, I was sick to death of them using sex for all of the negative occurrences. That was really getting on my nerves, especially coming from a licensed therapist. Sorry Ezra lovers, but, he’s not sitting well with me!

  • Lala Prsbry

Where is my Ezra instead of my Boaz!

Seriously! Ezra emanates so many things I have to remind myself 'this is a character'!
The writing speaks to my soul and the depth of the characters is so on point. I really appreciate that Love Belvin obviously puts in the work with her writing: research, vocabulary, forward and intuitive thinking with her fan base in mind! I just can't gush enough about the eloquence of the writing but I digress lol...

Lex and Ezra's second installment is deep. You see Lex start to transition in this story and not because Ezra requests or demands it but because of the evolution of her growing love for him. With that said the characters do have a somewhat naive manner of interacting with one another that makes you scratch your head because they are passionately in love yet they can't seem to see it in one another. Without giving away too much, you will see Lex arrive at a destination that finally makes you breathe for her though you won't believe the result of her revelation...
Ezra is still the ever consistent dominant. I love that the language is actually used more and they dive deeper into how he arrived at his destination and you also learn his history and begin to understand what makes the man that we call Ezra. Some may not like his ways but I love him... Git my heart palpitating and wishing I could get an intro! Lol IJS
If it's at all possible, this book was better than the last and I can't wait for Spring 2016.... The countdown begins!

  • Metris

NOOOOOOOOO but YESSSSSSS I understand why Lex.
This is one of those books that no matter how long you just hate to see it come to an end. I feel so connected with alot of the characters and truly understand the pros and cons of their personalities. Alexis Grier my hood chic that has fallen in love with her husband Ezra Carmichael alpha male who is totally opposite of what she learned throughout her life. But he has captivated her and made her want to be MORE a better submissive wife to him and his church. However Ezra is so stuck in his ways, listening for God to speak but obviously missing some vital information.
This couple takes you through some real circumstances that make you really think.

Bravo to Love Belvin!!!!! Amazing story and the Spring can't get here fast enough. I honestly didn't believe book 2 would top book 1 but I was so wrong. GREAT SERIES.

    Whew

This series continues to put me through a range of emotions. One minute I love Ezra, then the next I want to shake him. Precious, her momma, and Nyree need to go.
I couldn't put this book down.

Growth. Familiarity. Manipulation. Intrigue. God. Obsession. Fear. Discernable. Peculiar. LOVE!
What is…. ten words I would use to describe In Love with Ezra!

This book was phenomenal. Love Belvin has raised the bar and grown tremendously as an author. I was thoroughly impressed with this book.
In Love with Ezra is Book #2 in the Love Unaccounted Series and the continuation of the Ezra and Alexis Carmichael Story.

In Book #1, the focus was mainly on Ezra the Man vs. Ezra the Pastor, in Book #2, the focus transitions to Alexis the Wife vs. Lex/Kitten the lover. In Covenant With Ezra (Book #1) ended with a cliffhanger and I couldn’t wait to see how they were going to work through their battles as newlyweds who still didn’t know each nor were they in love. My belief is that the first battle was never truly resolved and the problems with this couple just kept building from there. Ezra teeters on the line of becoming unlikable, because (as the author points out), he is very manipulative and aggressive, but it’s these same qualities that causes Lex to continue to allow him what she thinks is small, unimportant concessions day after day. But Ezra is brilliant….. Brilliant enough to know what and how his wife needs to thrive! And he uses those concessions and his wife’s love for helping and satisfying others to his advantage. I guess this is one facet of their Dom & Sub relationship. Alexis is what I like to call a quiet storm, an observer; she may not say much, but that doesn’t mean that she’s naïve or stupid. She’s smart enough to know that not only her husband, but others in her life prey on her weaknesses to get what they want from her. But even with all of that, you still love them and you are still rooting for them.

In Love with Ezra was so much, but not enough all at the same time. So much, because it’s informational, it teaches you about order in the Church without being preachy, we got to see all of the characters from Book 1 return, some of them even had a key role in what’s happening with Ezra & Lex and even with this review, there is still so much I didn’t touch on that happened in the book. Not enough because even at over 300 pages, I could’ve continued reading about Ezra and Lex, not enough because I wanted some outstanding questions answered, and not enough because it’s another cliffhanger! LOL. When I came to a point in the book Alexis was so afraid love her husband, fall in love with her and most importantly tell her husband that she loved him because after all, they didn’t marry for love, I knew it wasn’t going to end well and her husband would not want or approve of her love.

Now we’ll have to wait for Book #3 to see how this all turns out. This is definitely a couple worth investing in. They will give you all the feels – the ones you want and especially the ones you don’t!

MIND BLOWING LOVED IT! Ezra is to DIE for.

I am so shock about Ezra just to think all this time. Lex just can't catch a break with all these Wolves wanting a pieces of her spirit. I love Ezra in every way imaginable, he accepted Lex with her flaw (not too many men can over look without the side eye). Love Belvin you are a phenomenal writer in my opinion, you kept me glued to this book morning, noonday and nights. Thank You Love! Keep it coming I am your new fan. I'm on to your next book @ 1:53a. I would recommend this this book to any and everyone. I'm very satisfied, I just wished I didn't have to wait until Spring 2016. For work like this I'll gladly wait in line like I do for Dunkin's coffees. Now, for Nyee this B***h right there deserve every nastiness coming her way can't wait to see her gravel. This is the main reason I stick to Family and books. Patiently waiting for the next installment.

Can a covenant exist without love?

    Äbbä...

Ezra and Alexis have established a covenant. They are now living it, sharpening the boundaries, and pulling back the layers. The chemistry between these two is combustible. The love scenes will leave your mouth agape. The character development, plot, and story flow are done with extreme care that will reel you in and take you on a mind trip -- typical Love Belvin fashion. I had to stop reading a few times to get my bearings because I was that gone. Fantastic! I am already in desperado-mode for the conclusion. I can't imagine where Love will take us next. A must read.

  • Kat

I Absolutely love this series. It took me a couple of days to write a review because it was hard for me to move on from this book. I had to take a pause before I can give another book my full attention. I cannot remember the last time a book and series has invoke such a response from me. If you haven't read In Convenant With Ezra and In Love With Ezra, do yourself a favor and get it. I read these books on Kindle Unlimited then purchased them to have in my library. I Definitely recommend! You will not be disappointed.

  • Jacinta Howard

Gripping, thought-provoking, addictive. Easily one of the best books I've read this year.

  • Wen

    Floored

I'm am floored. Why do I have to wait so long for the final installment of this series. I loved this book.

  • Kimberly Brown

    Ezra… Pastor… you’re exhausting me.

  • Deena

It has taken 4 days for me to recover from reading this book, and write a review. I can't seem to write this without spoilers so, if you haven't read the book (what are you waiting for?), you may not want to proceed. Just know that Love Belvin is a gifted storyteller and this book is excellent.

Ezra is probably the most complex character that I’ve ever read about. He is truly a man of God, and Ms. Belvin does a masterful job of conveying that to the readers. He’s seen dark times, has lost way and his faith in God, but he's accepted the call on his life and is ready to step into the role of pastor now that his father is ready to retire. He can read people and can tell the issues that they face, and also has prophetic dreams. He seems very other-worldly. However, we soon see that he is very human, and very flawed.

He doesn’t believe in love, but why not? Is it because of his parent’s sham of a marriage, or is it something else? This fascinated me more than anything. He knows the Bible, and there are many passages about love between a man and a woman, so why doesn’t he think it exists? Thaddeus is his right hand man, his armor bearer, and while I understand that the Thaddeus/Miranda/Lillian situation is a bit sensational, Ezra is too harsh in his response, IMO. It's almost as if he's punishing Thaddeus for being in love.

He knows that Lexi is the answer to his prayer, and he wants her to be happy and content. He does so many sweet things for her, and while it's clear to me that he's in love with her, that fool has absolutely no idea - or is willfully ignoring it, because....who knows? What I do know is that while he cares for Lexi, he ultimately cares for himself and what he wants more.

How could he send Lexi to work and not let her know about Precious and her mama? He knew she had an issue with Precious, and he had one with her mama, so a little warning would have been helpful. And in order. He know about the rape, so why doesn't he take that into account when introducing her to his BDSM habit? He could have set off so many triggers for her, and caused serious psychological damage.

Nyree, Nyree, Nyree…how I wish Ezra would have let Lexi put the paws on her when they were in Puerto Rico. She was begging for it! But why didn’t he tell Lexi how Nyree had been flirting with him, from the first time that they met, and that she came to his office, offering embarrassing information on her? Lexi needed that information to know what she was up against, and to know just what kind of person Nyree really is. But Lexi saw a lot of signs herself about Nyree’s trifling ways, and never called her out on them.

The big reveal and Lexi's response to it, totally blew my mind, because I didn't see either event coming. As much as I hated to see Lexi do what she did, Ezra deserved it. I absolutely cannot wait to see how Love Belvin brings about his redemption.

I'm also hoping that we find out more about Precious. What's up with her? In the first book, Ezra says that she almost cost him his freedom and his future; what happened and why does he keep her around? And in a position where they work so closely together? I know that his head is elsewhere, but surely he could see that she and her skanky Mama had designs on him. I so desperately wanna see Precious, her trifling Mama, Ezra's daddy and Nyree all their asses handed to them.

Listen, there is so much more I could say about this book, but this review already feels ridiculously long. But this book is So. Damn. Good!!! If you haven't read it, I strongly encourage you to do so. I'm fairly certain that you won't regret it.

    The Pastor or the beast

Ezra,Ezra,Ezra....I am numb . I DONT know how to feel about Ezra. He is alpha to the umpteenth power. I think I need Lex to run like forest Gump. I don't care how spiritual he _ He is abusive and controlling. Make your own bed. Who could not marry precious she was already broken and trained. Ezra NEEDS counseling. Great book love you wrote a jigsaw puzzle for a Hero. Lex deserves love. This man right here. please. Can't wait to see how you solve this.

    ROLLER COASTER RIDE! !!
LOVE!! this installment GOoD LAwd!!! was so deep. This was a roller coaster ride of emotion getting to know more about Ezra and Lex and the dynamics of their Covenant, this installment made me laugh, made me cry and made me cuss! the first book was taking me up the roller coaster, this book has me sitting there at the top waiting for the big drop to finish off the ride and I CAN'T WAIT! !!

  • Debra Crosby

What did I think about this book? I finished Dec 4 but could not figure out what to write. It was a great story because Ezra, the pastor and husband to Alexis was a very smart, dedicated minister. When he read Elle I was hyped to know more but sometimes you can see things for others that you can't see for yourself
    Love Belvins did it again

  • KBeautiful1

So this review will kind of digress a little bit...I need to go deep with this one here.

You know when watching a tv show with an oncoming train and you the other training coming from the opposite direction but they are on the same track. You also know once they hit each other, the impact is complete and utter devastation, lives lost, injured and unscathed.

In this story, I watched how Ezra pushed and pushed and pushed. He gave but it wasn't what was needed to stave off the impending destruction. Ezra took and took but still didn't see the destruction he was creating in his marriage with Lex. Ezra just kept going and going, and I knew that the outcome wasn't going to be what he thought it was. Mainly because he totally missed God's gift of his wife to him, Ezra thought God have him, Lex, to totally control and break, that is not who God is and oftentimes people in ministry get many things right in God but when it comes to personal they get it all the way wrong.

Lex was a married woman, and to a man, she clearly didn't know. How many of us have gone into endeavors with no clear agenda of what is actually happening? And once we are in, we try to make the best out of the situation. Lex tried, she really tried and it was destroying her heart and soul in the process because Ezra didn't get, he had not a clue, that his "Beloved" had fallen in love with him. Lex showed him all the clues that she was in love with him but Ezra and this ironclad will of his, he completely missed it.

Sex no matter how out the world it is, no matter if you are shot straight up into the stratosphere, will never keep a person. And being so tightly wound up in your emotions and the armor over your heart, will not garner you any happiness, it will only end as abruptly as it started.

And so we are at the end of Book 2 and the safe word was used. Now if you are into a Dom/Sub relationship, you already understand what a safe word means. In this case, Lex used her safe word and the Covenant has just been shattered. But sometimes things need to be broken in order to truly heal.

We are going into book 3 "Bonded with Ezra (Love Unaccounted Book 3)" which is the final book and I know it's going to drag me under emotionally and psychologically as these past 2 books have already done.

Well Until My Next Review...Ciao Bellas!

    Okay, Kitten

This second book was explosive for me. The scene with the Wilkerson and Ezra in the church? Honeyyyy! I felt for Alexis - she just wanted to be truly seen by Ezra. The author did an amazing job writing this from their different POVs because sometimes I’d be looking at Ezra sideways from Lex’s POV but then I’d kind of understand where he was coming from in his POV. I can’t wait to see how this ends.

Note- I read the Sadik series before this. It is really cool to know where some of the characters came from.

  • ReadMeAlone

    *sighs*

Nah, Pastor got me f*ucked up.

Book 1 I wasn’t fond of him. 50% into book 2 I slowly started to like him …51% into book 2 he’s back on my bad side.

My gurl Lex deserves better. She’s trying so hard and this emotionally unavailable man is just ready to go play in the sandbox 😒

    …on to book 3

    IM WITH YOU LEX!!!

So with all that being said (lol), I'll say it again—IM WITH YOU LEX!

This book, for sure took me on a very interesting journey. I love reading about complex characters and working through their emotions, feelings, desires, fears and aspirations with them. And Ezra is the most complex character of them all. Navigating the terrain of their relationship and this very enigmatic man right alongside Lex was super intriguing and heartbreaking at the same time. With Lex and Ezra living together and playing out their marriage agreement, feelings were bound to get involved and hurt and hearts were inevitably going to be broken. While I sympathize with Ezra and still have a bit of patience left for him, I'm not mad at Lex for standing her ground and doing whats best for her.

My girl said "If no one else does before I leave this earth, I have to account for my own love." Can I get an AMEN for that!?

Outside of the story, Love Belvins writing is phenomenal. It's such that...I really feel like if written by anyone else, I would be put off by...everything in this entire series. From the ynamics of Lex and ECs relationship and Ezras disposition, to Lex's seemingly eager supplication for his affection despite his dispostion. Everyting about their relationship SCREAMS, manipulation, toxicity, and unhealthiness. But LB writes it in a way that its not being touted as as #goals but as more of an exploration of two broken souls on a path to healing, as individuals and as a unit. So you don't feel guilty or shamed for reading, and enjoying reading through their trials, tribulations and turmoils. Bruh! I'm not even put off by how entomed in religion the pages are. And after ~650 pages? Thats talent!

Jesus this review isn't even cohearent - I can't really say all that I want to say without more spoilers so i'm going to wrap this up and just say that this book was sooo good.

Shit (sorry Ez) definitely hit the proverbial fan at the end of this book and I'm not going to lie, i'm a little scared. Love Belvin has a history of breaking my heart...and even though I know there is a light at the end of their tunnel—i'm afraid of what we're (YES WE) are going to have to go through to get there. But...I've got my big girl birches on...and im READY! Show me what you got Ezra...show US what you've got.

  • Nicole Sharon

I do not know how to talk about this book! I experienced so many emotions until I can only conclude with OH.MY.GAWD.

The main thing that bothers me about the "covenant" is the abuse. He wants her to feel comfortable but there is no love. Plus withholding affection and communication for any reason in a relationship is a form of abuse.

Nevertheless, I'm loving Ezra! I'm loving all the layers of this story. His spirituality is amazing. It's amazing how a person can be so effective outside their home, yet the home front is slowly crumbling. This book will mess with your head and have you thinking on some things....

Alexis. So many feelings about her. Found myself afraid, praying, wishing, cheering, holding my breath, and at times a little jealous. How much will she continue to pay for someone else's contentment?

    That sandbox. Lawd. Ham. Mercy...

Love Belvin is talented. If I could give this book more stars u would.

  • Mmoseley

I am at loss for words as to how this tale of Ezra and Alexis has affected my emotions. Ezra is a man true to his faith, controlling, and like helping others. His has visions, but he does not see what is staring in his face. Alexis is a woman who a survivor and who has a beautiful heart. She is enjoying the day to day with her husband, but she is yearning for something more. This book is erotic, romantic, and emotional. This author is so talented that she will leave believing these characters are real people. This is a must read.

  • Courtney Wolfe

The characters in this book, Lex and Ezra, are very complex. I read this box in less than 24 hours. I simply could not put this book down. I was so wrapped up in the storyline because the characters were so real. I download the song 'In' and listened to it while I read about Ezra's first sermon in his new role. I felt like I was there in that moment. Author Love Belvin is an amazing writer and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

  • Samona

Im so in love with this series! Ezra oh my, what can I say about him? He is in love and don't know it! Love Belvin is GREAT,reading her work is better than watching tv. I won't give the story away but How is it that Ezra can read everyone but Lex. He has so many layers and I think it's hard for even him to keep them in line. Love you have made me fall in love, and for that I say Thank you and keep it coming! Wonderful book

  • Malaika

    I love this series!

This is my favorite book of the Love Unaccounted series. The evolution that Alexis and Ezra make is God ordained. Love was always in the plan but they both fought it in different ways. Ezra didn’t have the capacity for it and couldn’t conceive it and Lex didn’t want to acknowledge it. The enemy was definitely working overtime against them but God is going to work it out for good.

  • Tina Young

Dayum, the Ezra and Alexis life adventure just keeps getting more intriguing and telling. My mouth is hanging open once again at the ending. Wow, lol. I'm Fiending to read the next installment in this series! Character Chemistry is on Point as usual in a Love Belvin book as she continues to display her Gift and Talents as one of the Best Writers ever!!!
