Midnight at the San Franciscan: A Noir Novelette Reviews

  • Scott Cumming

Read this one on the eve of the release of Pool's new novel
Texas Two-Step and it's a fine wee story. Hues to the ordinary guy gets desperate, gets in too deep with the wrong people and loses everything tangent of noir storytelling, but you can feel the emotion in it. A worthwhile short read.

  • Alex Carbo

    A brilliantly written tragedy

Any parents can feel the pain Mike feels in this sad and tragic short story.
    It brought me to tears.

  • Dave

This is a short story about roads taken through life and where they intersect. An ordinary guy with bills no ordinary guy could possibly pay gets mixed up with a cartel and his whole world is ripped to shreds. It's a powerful, evocative piece about the nature of evil and the worthiness of revenge.
