Night Springs: An Alan Wake Story Reviews

Ties in well with the game both story and art. currently playing the game and just finished episode 5 so thought I would try graphic novels.

Overall rating: 3.5
This is a side story that takes place in between the last chapters (DEPARTURE) of the first Alan Wake game. It is highly recommended to beat the game to completion before dipping in.
Sheriff Sarah Breaker’s father Frank is our main protagonist in this one shot comic. He comes off humble and very likable. We follow his journey when he gets the phone call from Barry when stuff goes down in town. Being Bright Falls’ ex Sheriff, Frank must gather strength to get back into the action.
The art is very nice with hard edges and fits in well with the noire vibes of the Alan Wake universe. The panels dark yet vivid at times with pops of color.
Overall, it’s a little extra bit for Alan Wake fans. It does not work standalone. It is nice to know about the side characters though. I did enjoy it as a quick read. Wish ultimately there was more. It’s in a pocket and doesn’t seem mandatory. At least it’s written from the game’s writing team therefore canon as of now. (Alan Wake 2 has not released as the writing of this review)
