Daredevil (1964-1998) #164 Reviews

Ulrich confronts Daredevil about knowing his secret. Hornhead then tells Ulrich his story. Ben is left with the decision of being a reporter and ending a hero or keeping the secret.

A key Daredevil story with a surprising low average rating here. This should be something around 4.5+ at least... but then again, very few people rate single issues on goodreads, but I'm doing it for the sake of continuity in my brain. I was absolutely obsessed with this story since I was a kid and watched that terrible 2000s movie, it doesn't matter the media, it's a hell of a good origin story and it's tremendously iconic.

Even though it's lack of action it's considerable, the issue it's basically the re-cap on Daredevil's origin, related to his father's death, his motivations as a blind vigilante and Ben Urich's revelation of his identity. The art of Frank Miller (and what probably gives the comic its value) it's retro-gorgeous, and reminds us the good old days of Born Again, in style and substance. An ideal single issue for the early readers and the fans of the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.
