Kids During the American Civil War (Kids Throughout History) Reviews

  • Shannon Brasher

I thought this book was going to discuss kids during the American Civil War. Instead it gave a quick introduction to what was happening and what a civil war is. Then it follows one fictional boy, John, and his family from western Kentucky. I think this book gives a very basic description of life during the American Civil War. This book is very short, includes many pronunciations for words, and seems to be written for younger readers. This is not my favorite historical information book for children that is out there.

This book was all about kids in the Civil War. It described life in the North and South, education, food, what they did in their free time, and many, many other things.

I liked this book! Nonfiction books aren't my favorite but this one was very educational and the illustrations looked like they were from that time which I thought was cool!

I could use this for vocabulary building skills, articulation, inference get, and "wh" questions.
