Or will it go against…Jackson’s Destiny?
Jackson's Destiny (Sawyer Brothers, #2) Reviews
-
Jackson’s Destiny is his and Bailey’s story. The blurb is a smidge misleading (or at least overdramatic) both suffer a loss, but it’s not that big of a deal. He’s already met Bailey when it happens, and there isn’t really anything intense/demon-dealing going on.
We met these two in Ryan’s book. Jackson is the youngest Sawyer brother; he’s a full-time cowboy and has been described as a bit of a playboy. Bailey is Amber’s bestie and has been described as a bit crazy. I was looking forward to this one because they both have personalities.
The good is that they were fun and had great chemistry. Their sexytime was MUCH sexier than Ryan and Amber. The not so good is that there wasn’t much of a plot or anything for them to work with.
Bottom Line- Much the same as the first book which seems to be her formula. Low drama, H’s are devoted quickly, potential conflicts are dispatched swiftly. I got excited when one of his ex-hookups showed up, but she doesn’t generate any real drama. -
DNF...great cover but sadly male POV doesn't ring true:(

3.5⭐️‘s
“I want you in my life, every day, and not just as my friend. I want an us.”
“I want this. I want you. I want to be yours, Jackson.”
**Synopsis:**
This book picks up where the prior one left off and I have to say chapter one took me by surprise.
Jackson and Bailey were quite attracted to each other in book 1 and at times couldn’t keep their hands to themselves.
~ “Bailey and I had been skirting around one another since the night Ryan and Amber found us at the side of the barn during our last annual cookout at the ranch. Both of us had a little too much to drink, and if they hadn’t stopped us when they did, I’m more than positive we would have had sex right there.”
When Jackson suffers a devastating loss, he discovers Bailey also knows the pain of losing a loved one. Their bond grows stronger and Jackson knows his father was right and he’s not going to let Bailey go.
~ “You know, my dad told me I was a dumbass if I didn’t grab ahold of you before someone else did.” Her eyes grew wide and I chuckled. “He said, ‘That girl right there would be good for you, Jack. She wouldn’t take your shit, and you need a woman who knows how to give back twice as much crap as you deal out. Bailey would keep you on your toes.’ He was right, ya know.”
** The following are my thoughts about this book: **
* * Ryan, Noah and Jackson….Gah, these brothers ❤️❤️❤️
* * Jackson is very domineering when it comes to Bailey. He just bulldozes his way through a situation and pretty much tells Bailey how it’s going to be. To some he will come off as strong and sure in what he wants. To others he may come off as bossy and controlling (not in a good way).
I like a strong Hero, so I didn’t have a problem with his assertiveness and take charge manner.
* * the story started off really strong for me with the loss of a parent and Bailey’s struggle in dealing with the loss of her brother. But somewhere along the way those issues just kind of got glossed over. It was like once Jackson and Bailey had each other their grief was gone. So I thought the story lacked depth.
* * I needed to read a story about a ranch for a book challenge. Even though the cover is a cowboy and the family owns a ranch, there is not much cowboy / ranch stuff that happens in this book. A little bit of horse training. So, it didn’t really have that ranch feel
* * Jackson and his father ran the ranch together. So when his dad died that left Jackson to manage on his own. No time was spent showing how this new dynamic really affected Jackson.
* * I’m rounding my rating down because there were some very difficult subjects brought up in the book, but I didn’t feel like any of them truly got addressed or that any time was spent really going deep into the issues. The glossing over of the heavy subjects made the book a bit shallow.
**Overview:**
- Content Warning: death of parent, suicide of sibling (in the recent past, mostly off page), attempted suicide (mostly off page)
- Setting: Livingston, Montana
- Do you need to read previous books in series?: yes. I would not classify this as a standalone. It has a different H/h, but the characters and and backstory from the previous book are important for this book.
- POV: Dual POV
- Who is the Hero? Jackson Michael Sawyer (age: probably around 30). Manages the family ranch
* The following words/phrases were used to describe Hero: confident, intimidating, commanding, overpowering, compassionate, cocky, likes to tease people
* H likable? Yes.
- Who is the Heroine? Bailey (age: I’m going to guess mid 20’s). Recently moved to Montana. A few years ago she lost her brother to suicide and her family fell apart after that tragic loss.
* The following words/phrases were used to describe Heroine: unsettled, feisty, untamable
* h likable? Yes.
- h virgin? No
- First time they kiss:Technically in book 1. But in this story 20%.
- First time they sleep together: 38%
- Safe sex? Yes. Condoms were used
- First time they say I Love You 54%
- steamy? Yes. Descriptive bedroom scenes
- OW/OM drama? a tiny bit. Nothing major
- H/h cheat? No
- Time apart? No
- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets? No
- Did I cry? the beginning was a bit emotional
- Did I laugh? Not really
- Did I swoon🥰? yes. I thought protective Jack was very swoony!
~ “When was the last time you had someone protect you? The last time someone put you above everything else and fought like hell to give you the happiness you deserve? You come first, your happiness. You can be pissed at me, you can yell and tell me I’m being an ass all you want. But damn it, Bailey, I will do whatever it takes to make sure you come first.”
- Cliffhanger? No
- HEA? Yes
- Epilogue? a couple weeks later
- Recommend? I liked Jackson and Bailey, but I just thought the story lacked depth. I’ll read the next book because I am invested in the brothers. However, Book 1 also lacked depth so I’ll set my expectations accordingly for the next book.
**Quotes**
“You done pitching a fit?”
“You done being an ass?” she countered.
I shrugged and could no longer hold back my smile. “That depends on whether you’re done throwing a tantrum.”
“That woman is enough to make even a pastor feel hellish,”
“You got me, Bay. You always have me in your corner.”
“Jackson’s sexual energy seemed to flow off him in waves. He never tried to hide it, and he sure as hell didn’t care who was around when he decided to lay it on even thicker.”
“Forget that whole “poke a sleeping bear” thing; poking the cranky cowboy may actually have worse consequences -
Jackson's world was rocked when his father died in the barn. Now he is struggling to move forward. Small steps for his mom but not enough for his brother's liking. They know he was closest to their dad. Both loved the ranch. Now he is in a holding pattern doing the bare minimum.
Bailey is a family friend, someone his dad said he would be a fool for missing out on and it finally sinks in when she is there for him, asking nothing in return. What if he now sees her and wants to give her everything? Can he? Will she want him too? Cause Bailey hides the darkness in her life, from her friends, from her family, from everyone.
This is a fun ride to see these two fight for a HEA one that seems like destiny but may have one to many obstacles to hurdle.
Love this series. -
Review by Lisa Kane
We met Jackson Sawyer in the first book about the Sawyer Brothers, Ryan's Love. He was hot, a player and not one to settle down. In this story he is a very different man. He has just lost his father-the man he worked with on a daily basis, the one he admired and looked up to and he is now lost. He has the support of his brothers Ryan and Noah, but he just can't seem to get out of this funk. Having lost his wife, Ryan is more than familiar with the grieving process and how the heart needs to take its time to heal.
Bailey is Amber's best friend. Amber is Ryan's fiancee. She and Jackson had a near hook up a few months ago, but since then, she's avoided any real contact between them. But Carla, Amber's mom is now in town and along with Mr. Sawyer's death, there are triggers coming at her from both sides. Baily suffered a devastating loss; one that started the demise of her parents' marriage and it turns out Carla helped shovel the dirt on that marriage's grave. It's just too much for her to deal with, especially since her mother's depression is getting worse.
When it all becomes too much, it's Noah that takes Bailey to his house to comfort her. This does not go over well with Jackson-at all. He may have his own problems, but if Bailey needs a shoulder to cry on-it will be his damn it, not his brother's.
"Noah will not be the man offering you support. Not today, not ever. You need a shoulder to lean on-" I leaned in just a little closer, and she didn't pull away, "-that shoulder will be mine."
Meet alpha Jackson. His mission is to force Bailey to stop avoiding him. There is something there and he's not going to let her hide from him anymore. What's more-Bailey likes this new Jackson.
I didn't move, still captivated by the perfect ass that was now on display. Jackson Sawyer was a work of art. He was sexy and domineering. He was a control freak, and when things didn't go his way, he used his size to make sure they did.
But this is a romance book and as everyone knows; we need conflict. And angst. And misunderstandings. We have them in spades and being an angst lover, I welcomed them all! We have screwed up parents and jealous, conniving exes. Is Bailey and Jackson's budding relationship strong enough to survive when things seem to be pulling them apart?
"I asked you one simple question, one, and you lied." I poked his chest with a finger. "I don't like being lied to, so no, we cannot talk. You, Jackson, can get the hell of out my way right now."
We get little hints about Noah's story and the return of amber and Bailey's friend Alena, seems to set up the next installment for the Sawyer brother's story, Noah's Journey.
"You come first, your happiness. You can be pissed at me, you can yell and tell me I'm being an ass all you want." I lifted my other hand and griped the other side of her face. "But damn it, Bailey, I will do whatever it takes to make sure you come first." -

**Bookaholic Confessions**
CA Harms does it again!! I loved Jackson’s Destiny!
Jackson is the sexy, strong cowboy that a city girl like Bailey shouldn’t get involved with. I mean, he was a complete ladies man and almost did her against the barn one night. Granted, it would have been seriously hot and totally worth it, but everything happens for a reason.

I received an ARC of this book from Enticing Journey Book Promotions in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book's blog tour promotions.
I think I already mentioned when I reviewed Ryan's Love that this series is my favorite from C.A. Harms. If I haven't done so, then I'm saying it now. I've read at least two other series from her, but the Sawyer brothers are my favorite. I think it's because the stories are emotional and touching, the characters are complex, and the way the plot was played out was smooth and cohesive.
I'm not sure if I prefer this book over the first one. I honestly loved Ryan's Love because of the feels and that lovely daughter of his who had a personality to go with. However, this book had an alpha male hero who was adorable when in love. Seriously, these Sawyer men are proving to be good book boyfriends. I look forward to the third book, and I am hoping it will be as good, if not better, than the current two. -
Jackson is a kind, caring man, don't get me wrong he has the worst cocky side you've ever seen, but he's always kind and caring in his own way, "Jackson chuckled, bringing my dirty thoughts to an abrupt halt. “Darlin’, if you wanna touch, all you have to do is ask.” I narrowed my eyes at him, trying to appear irritated by his cockiness. But he didn’t buy it at all as he took a few steps closer to the bed. “I can unhook this towel and give you a closer look.” There are times Jackson really appreciates his woman's imagination, "I was growing hard thinking about her doing just that. “Riding a cowboy sounds like the perfect choice.” I pressed my erection against her stomach, and her mouth fell open in a short moan. “In fact, I think you should ride one right now.” I loved this book I can't wait for Noah's book hopefully that one comes out quickly.

Love this series. If your looking for a great romance book with a HEA then look no further. Idk how I came across this series but I loved it. Can't wait to read more from this author.

After the death of his father, Jackson Sawyer has vowed to himself that he will never take love for granted. Although he and Bailey have had their run ins in the past, now is the time he needs to make her his. But will the city girl fall in love with the country boy? Or will Jackson finally get everything he deserves? I thought I loved Ryan's story until I started this one. From the opening pages the reader can feel the tension and hurt in Jackson's body that only Bailey can cure. LOVED this couple and cannot wait to see where the series goes.

4.5 out of 5
This is book two in the series and can easily be read as a standalone novel but in order to get the whole picture, you really should read Ryan’s Love because the characters run through both books.
It was obvious in the first book that there was a connection between Jackson and Bailey that no matter hard they tried to deny it wasn’t willing to remain silent.
The book starts with the boys losing their much beloved father and it is blatantly evident that Jackson will take longer to gather himself together than either Ryan or Noah. His bond with his father was more than he could ever put into words.
Bailey feels redundant as she stands on the side-lines, watching as her friends struggle to come to terms with what has happened. Her feelings for Jackson make seeing him suffer is hard on her, but it also rekindles a painful memory that she would have rather remained buried.
Jackson didn’t want to be the man to fall apart and neither Ryan nor Noah wanted to be the one to bring their big brother to his knees but he was sinking fast and as much as they were trying to hold the farm together they needed Jackson back on board. But it was the feelings that he kept simmering along for the gorgeous Bailey that flickered him back to life.
I loved Jackson, he was just a beautiful man. He exercised his patience when it came to bailey but when he made his move, it was decisive and permeant – there is no way he was ever going to let her off the hook and what Jackson loved and cherished – he kept!
Their relationship was fairly swift and to the point but I think my favourite part was when she had to take off to deal with a situation that happens with her mother but despite giving her time to resolve what she needs to, he understands that she is where she needs to be but he misses her and unbeknown to her he turns up on her doorstep – I could have swooned there and then!
I loved his possessiveness – it was sweet rather than arrogantly demanding, he never said anything he didn’t mean and his relationship with Ryan’s daughter Olivia was just down right brilliant! He’s definitely the cool uncle.
Bailey and Amber were super funny together, heck Bailey was just funny full stop – when she took down Jackson clingy ex – I had the biggest smile on my face.
The family are super, the brothers are so close and the conversations between them were filled with everything I could have possibly wanted from them. I love the fact that they are able to call it as they see it without the drama that lesser mortals would feel obliged to instil in the scenario, family’s dynamics ebbed and flowed and I was hooked on every word.
And with Noah up next for the CA Harms treatment, I cannot wait to read how he fairs in the love stakes! -
4.5 / 5 stars
Received a copy of the title in exchange for an honest review.
I knew in RYAN'S LOVE, when Jackson and Bailey went hiding away, that I was going to love their story. And true enough, I did.
C.A. Harms opened this book with yet another tragedy, and I'm fast learning she writes these scenes well. Where Ryan's book opened with the unexpected death of his wife, this one opens with a Sawyer family death that rocks the entire family -- but hits Jackson especially hard. And watching her friends hurt brings back grief and heartache that Bailey, herself, went through in the past.
When one looks at the framework of JACKSON'S DESTINY, if you hadn't read the previous book Jackson and Bailey's relationship seems extremely fast. Sure, there are the words that they had been circling one another for some time, but without having read it, you don't get the sense, necessarily, of the feelings these two have. So in that sense, it's helpful to read the previous book.
But if you can get past that -- this book completely stands alone fine.
...except I read book one, so I was excited to finally pick the brains of Jackson Sawyer and Bailey Whitmore.
Jackson's possessive streak for friend-turned-lover was lovely to watch. This big bad Sawyer brother has a super large soft spot where Bailey was concerned, and I absolutely adored him. I loved watching the soft side of him come out, both with his family and with Bailey. I loved that when he told her she had his corner, and he had hers, that he then backed that statement up. As much as I loved Ryan's story with Amber and his daughter, I think Jackson may be my favorite Sawyer brother (oh, and no worries, there's plenty of comedy with Olivia Sawyer is concerned).
Beyond the Jackson and Bailey front, though, is the Sawyer family and my goodness, I love the lot of them. I love Momma Sawyer; I love Bailey's relationship with (someday soon sister-in-law, but currently BFF) Amber; I love the boys' relationship with their mother.
But I really really love the interactions between Jackson, Ryan, and Noah. Those brothers, gosh, I loved them to pieces. I loved the teasing, the ribbing, the smart-assed remarks. I loved the banging down the bedroom door and teasing about just how loud certain somebody's got at certain times...
Just loved them.
Next up is Noah's book, and the way that man has been burned... I'm excited to watch him find his forever love. -
5 Stars!
I love this author. Everything she has written to date has been brilliant. She has mastered the art of contemporary romance. When you read her books, you can expect laughs, love, feels, passion, and exquisite writing. One again, she gave us another hit in this series that knocked me on my a$$.
This book was amazing. It is a fast read but no less enjoyable. It will make you cry. It will make you smile. It will make you believe in second chances and happy endings. I fell in love with this story and I look forward to the next book in this series which is sure to be something special.
This is Bailey and Jackson’s story. Bailey and Jackson has tons of chemistry and after an explosive incident between the two, it is only a matter of time before they can into their feelings. But when tragedy strikes and shakes Jackson to his core, he realizes he needs to get his girl.
Enter Bailey. She is fun loving on the outside and the girl everyone loves but she craves more in the love department even if she denies it. And when Jackson makes it his mission to be his, she finds it hard not to give herself over to him and hope he can handle her heart and love.
These two gave us a fantastic love story that had a few twists to keep you on the edge of your seat and enough steam to keep you panting. I loved Bailey's sass and the confidence she had. And Jackson... swoon! He was so sweet and I loved his determination to claim Bailey and keep her.
I highly recommend this book.

Jackson’s Destiny is the second book in the Sawyer Brothers series and just like the previous book, it starts off with the loss of someone very important to Jackson, his father. I once again was crying because of how deeply and severely the loss of his father affected Jackson. Out of all of the brothers, Jackson’s relationship with his father was special. They ran the ranch together and spent the most time together because of that.
Jackson has a reputation as a ladies man, but there is really only woman that he wants. Bailey. It is because of her that Jackson is able to pull himself out of the downward spiral of grief that he was headed when he stepped up to help her. These two had been attracted to each other for months, and almost acted on it, but until then Jackson hadn’t staked his claim.
Bailey has experience with being dealt a loss so hard that it tore up her family, when her brother died. The events that happened afterward destroyed her family. I felt so bad for her because she didn’t have the support system like Jackson had except for Amber. When Amber’s mother comes causing trouble you want to take a baking tray to her face, while its hot from the oven.
Jackson’s Destiny was sexier than the previous book, but still has that sweetest that Ryan’s Love had. Like Ryan’s Love, this was a fairly quick read that had me wanting more when I finished it. I am looking forward to Noah’s book a lot. Noah is the final Sawyer Brother and I have a feeling we are going to be in for an emotional rollercoaster ride with his book based to the preview we got. -
Once again I find myself being sucked into the writing of CA Harms !! The storyline is great , the flow is easy , I get everything I need !! The only issue is I devour it in a matter of hours and then have to wait for more !! As always we get everyone joining the story and even a sneak peak at what's to come.
I have to say this book starts with a BANG. The emotions I was feeling right away were brutal. It is not often you cry in the beginning of a book. The Sawyer family already has a place in my heart , anyone who read Ryan's story will agree. So reading of their major loss was heartbreaking. they have suffered so much already with loss that this is almost unbearable for some of them. Jackson of course is having a hard time and it is we have a very sensitive and caring man to deal with. Bailey is not much different than Jackson. She has been in town long enough to know the family and have made friends yet not everyone knows exactly what she has loss. Her struggles have been heartbreaking , her family has been destroyed and split and now one of those responsible for that is in town and in her face. When Jackson goes all alpha male to help protect Bailey it doesn't take long for their relationship to spin out of control. They have a great chemistry and there really isn't any need to prolong the inevitable. They face their hurdles and they have the chance to be the support for each other as nobody else has. It comes together nicely and I really enjoyed them. There was no shortage of hot yummy time and the cover helps out with that by providing a great visual !! -
5 star
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, grief, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Ryan's Love (Sawyer Brothers #1)
This is Bailey and Jackson’s story. When Jackson loses one of the most important people in his life he shatters. Bailey can feel his pain as she lost one of the most important people she loved years ago. She knows how he feels. As they battle their grief they come together. Bailey and Jackson are healing each other and in love. They are so good together but Bailey is battling some issues with her mother and father. When her mother needs her she knows she has to go to her. Jackson is home trying to fend off an old flame. When Jackson tells Bailey a lie will it be the end of everything? Or will Jackson be able to explain? Will he be able to get Bailey back or is she done with him forever?
I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author. -
I got a copy of Jackson's Destiny in exchange for an honest review.
This book start of with a bang, that will have a nob forming inside your throat.
Jackson a man that loved many woman finds himself on a path he truly doesn't know. Trying to work through the death in the family and running the ranch, his struggling to keep head above water
Bailey has seen darkness herself, and with a funeral happening the feelings she hasn't truly processed comes to live. With an unexpected encounter from Noah assisting her help, stir things up between her and Jackson. The dance they have been dancing around each other is finally being smashed together. With learning that life is truly to short for regrets, they learn to lean on each other for comfort and support.
Jackson being a total cavemen and dominating on Bailey. Bailey finally have met her match in more ways than one.
I give Jackson Destiny a 4.5 stars...... -
Wow... Just wow.... I wasn't sure what to expect from CA Harms, this was my first book of her. AND WOW!! It will not be my last.
Jackson and Bailey take you on a journey of love loss and self doubt. Their biggest obstacles to finally finding their love is themselves. Both meeting after tragedy has struck, neither knows how to embrace the good out of the darkness they've been living in.
I was amazed at how well this book was, it hit on every emotion i have and some I didn't even know existed. It was heart breaking and heart warming all at once.
I loved this book! I will deff be waiting in anticipation for anything else from CA!!
5 heart wrenching stars from NADBB!!

Holy hotness. Jackson is a delicious cowboy that I fell head over heart for in this part of the Sawyer brothers' story. He is suffering such grief at the loss of his father, but still has such a big heart that he is all about taking care of Bailey who is going through her own sadness. When she breaks it is him who becomes her rock. They knew that there was an attraction between them, but it became so much more than that. I so loved their story.
I give Jackson's Destiny 5 hearts! -
C.A. Harms seriously knows how to write. When it comes to grieving she doesn’t shove it in our faces. It happens and little-by-little the characters accept and move on. Its really nice and refreshing. But just an FYI, have tissues handy. In the first book (Ryan’s Love) we get a glance at the smoke’n hot chemistry Jackson and Bailey have towards each other. So I was so excited to see how they went about it in this book. Both of them are grieving and they end up turning to each other for comfort. With the power of love and some awesomely cool family/friends they overcome the hurdles thrown at them to get to their HEA. I believe this can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading this series in order. Since I read the first book I understood everything that was happening and I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. Now I’m off to read Noah and Alena’s story which is book 03 in this series. I seriously cant stop. So excited!!
Happy Reading🤓 -
This is the second in this series and just as good as the first one. This one starts off with a bang. Jackson is a man that loves many woman but finds himself on a path to nowhere. He is trying to work through a tragic event and running his ranch just trying to keep his head. Bailey has seen the same darkness. These two end up dancing around each other until finally being brought together. They learn life is to short and to lean on each other for comfort and support. I loved these two getting together. I loved the dance these two perform before getting together. There was just something about these two and this storyline. C.A did an amazing job with these two. Another enjoyable book that I highly recommend reading.

This is another fantastic read to the Sawyer Brothers series. It starts off with tears, but it ends with laughter. This is the story of Sawyer and Bailey. They’ve been tiptoeing around each other for months, until Jackson pulls his head out of his ass and takes charge. Bailey suffered a devasting loss, when her brother, Gabe, committed suicide. Sawyer has had a tough time since the death of his father, Bill. Can these two bring light and happiness to each other’s lives and banish the darkness? Grab your copy and see what happens and then get ready for Noah’s story. I have to say I loved Bailey’s feisty side and I thought it was hilarious when she finally put Phoebe in her place, lol.
-
Jackson and Bailey were made for each other. They complete each other, she doesn't put up with his stuff and he challenges her. It was so easy to fall in love with them both.
Jackson, is a rough, dirty talking, cowboy with a sweet side that he only shows to Bailey. While she is as a mouth like a sailor, a total city girl and doesn't care what people think of her. When they come together it's sparks and fireworks. I love that he is willing to do anything to make her happy. Stopping what he is in the middle of doing if she needs him. He flies to see her when he knows that she needs him. That right there is true love.
Now on top Noah's story cant wait to see what happens. -
I'll keep it short and to the point....
When tragedy strikes, it brings into focus what is really important. Finding someone who brings out the "sweet" in you and makes you want to take away any and all of their pain...yeah you hold on to that.
Loved both of these characters and was so glad that unnecessary drama didn't drag out.
With the little teaser at the end of this book, I can't wait to read Noah's story. -
I adored Jackson. I think he is one of my favorite Sawyer brothers. He is more of a player, bad boy, but the way he loves Olivia then goes after what he wants shows he has a golden heart.I love his loyalty to his brothers.
If you like a good character driven story, cowboys and some passionate sex you will love this book. -
Great read
I truly loved this story. I was heart broken for the characters many times. But it was nice to read about the characters and the support they had for each other. Highly recommend.
