Subtitled "An Exploration of the Musico-Erotic," this novel is an experiment in blurring the boundaries between the syntax of music and that of poetry. The sentences in question are elliptical, resembling a musical score, and tell the story of a violinist embarking upon a potentially dangerous affair with an admirer and fellow musician as their spouses, audiences, teachers, friends, and colleagues listen and wonder.

Super interesting concept and a very experimental style that I just didn't feel quite smart enough to "get". Partially, I did read this while sick so I'm not exactly firing on all cylinders, but also, I think I'm quite boring at heart and I've never been super keen on the really abstract stuff. Also, some bits were just weird in a way that didn't personally resonate at all. If you're into music and like weird, abstract, experimental stuff, then I think you'll love this, but it didn't quite work for me.
