This is a short story. In this one we see a member of the Rebellion being chased by the Empire. She crashes on a moon that is suppose to be uninhabited. A hermit lives on this planet that is collecting artifacts of the Jedi.
This is the third short story I have read from this series and for me this is the weakest. I like the idea of these artifacts being out there in the galaxy. This concept has been touched upon in this universe. But in this story we see not the artifacts themselves but how passionate the hermit is about these items. It is a good idea but I just had no connection with him or the crashed pilot. I know this is hard to achieve in a short story but I really could have cared less what happened to the characters or the artifacts. Not exactly what I want to happen while reading a book.
Two stars might be a little generous. But it definitely does not deserve one star as I did not hate it. Honestly I had no feelings toward this offering. I am not expecting much from these quick reads but I am hoping to be engaged in the story. Sadly, this one did not accomplish that as I had no connection throughout. -
I'm fascinated by this idea that there are multiple people squirreling away Jedi relics (or Sith relics, depending on the person).... have any of them survived? This type of story has appeared three times that I know of, so far: in the Obi-Wan & Anakin comic series; in this short story; and in the Lando comic series where the Emperor had a ship full of Sith relics. Each person was saving these things for very different reasons.
I also liked the arc of character development that the author achieved in a very short story. -
The End of History is a great short story during the transition of power in the Galaxy. The characters and the situation were perfect for a short story and there is a deep history involved that keeps you intrigued. This short story shows the dark presence of the Empire and the people clinging on to a brighter past that is out of reach, hoping to preserve it so that hope may thrive again.
