This is really cute and has interesting tidbits about the buildings. I wish there was a bit more of that in there, or some personal connection to the buildings he's drawing. The introduction is good, but doesn't account for why he chose the buildings he did (I mean, obviously the famous ones are going to be in there, but sometimes he just included streets and I wondered why those instead of others, etc,). I hope there's one for Paris in the works eventually :)

This is a book of drawings with only a couple pages of text and some little bits of information about the building or other architectural work beside the drawings (most, but not all). Great for Londonphiles. I like the artist’s style. He adds some unique little flourishes that make the buildings look almost active rather than static. Very cool.

If you love London, James Gulliver Hancock takes you there in a clever, artful, informative style. This man can draw!

I love how James draws buildings straight on but parts of the buildings are drawn at an angle so you can see different dimensions of it. So cool!

What a delightful book! ... Ideal for bringing buildings to remembrance ... a perfect "refresh" for the former London visitor ... and a foretaste for the London visitor yet to be ...

  • Lilia

A lovely book. A genuine "Beau livre". A must-have for any London lover!
Would love to have the same for Paris, ideally in French.

I really enjoyed the illustrations. Not just the major buildings, but all the different buildings and locations. Looking forward to the New York Edition of this book.
