A victim with close ties to the Cranes escapes a deadly assault with his life only to die from his injuries minutes later. Mel has few clues to find the fighter turned murderer and the further she goes with her investigation, the more the situation deteriorates. Meanwhile, Dana’s trying to plan their wedding but the family is resisting both her efforts and the wishes of the couple while focusing more on her sister and her traditional relationship.
Family angst, violent crime and more than a few Holstein steers abound as Dana and Mel fight against the odds to solve Mel’s case and find their own happily ever after.
DISCLAIMER: This fourth installment of the Morelville Mysteries series, like the third book, contains erotic scenes between consenting adult females. If that is distasteful to you, please consider reading something else.
This book is great together with Books 1through 3 to get all of the Dana and Mel back story but it can also be read as a stand-alone mystery.

Bovines, bets, and weddings
SAPPHIC BOOK BINGO: established couple, not a romance, full-time writer, character with a disability; UNICORN: more than 2 POVs, twins (possibly other categories)
Mel's niece and nephew finally got to compete in the fair after all of their hard work with Grandpa Crane. A mini investigation results from events that occurred there. Kris, Mel's twin, found her ex-husband dead after falling out of his vehicle at the gas station - the beginning of the primary investigation in the novel. The Cranes, Rossis, and Millers had many reasons to celebrate throughout the book. It had The same type and amount of errors as the preview books, but it was still good enough to continue the series. -
I was sent this book by Inked Rainbow Reads in exchange for an honest review.

Although the 4th book in the series it is a stand alone book. Once again full of mystery and excitement. Lots of different thread which appear at the beginning not to be connected and are only brought together as the mystery unfolds.
Along with a believable and gripping mystery the relationship between Dana and Mel continues to unfold. This relationship is an exhilarant story on its own!!
Ms Hagan not only manages to tell a fascinating story but manages to illustrate and expose some of the obstacles facing same sex marriage. I am glad she kept the conclusion to this engrossing novel but equally glad to read her epilogue.
If you enjoy a modern and gripping mystery, with a fascinating take on life, love and family relationship and some hot sex scenes then this book will certainly entertain you. I thoroughly recommend it, love it! -
Very good
I gave it five stars because the characters are great. I can't put it down and the story line keeps you wanting more. Can't wait for the next book. -
Hitched and Tied (The Morelville Mysteries, #4) — Anne Hagan (Prologue + 28 chapters + Epilogue) July 11-12, 2018
There are sexy bits in this book that make it not advisable for younger readers. Age 21+ is the appropriate readers. This is a story between two consenting adult women.
This book, the fourth in the series, had lots of little crimes that seemed interrelated, and at the end at least one of the crimes had not been solved and there were still some questions left unanswered. The POV rotates again between Dana and Mel. There is a ghost from Mel’s past that re-surfaces. Kris’ kids, her boyfriend, and Mel’s mom and dad are involved along with Dana’s relatives.
This book had almost too much going on in it. I found myself wishing there was more concentration on the main plot and not the side plot with Kris’ kids and the county fair.
This story was not as strong as the previous one. Mel was the dominating character again and just as the main plot was getting solved, another one happened that did not get solved in this book.
I would like to see how that plot/case/crime plays out, but I will have to wait until later.
Low three stars. -
This was more of a family drama than the previous books. In fact during the first half of the book most of the action concerned showing cows at a county fair and of course there was the wedding.
The mystery part of the book started slowly, but came more to the fore in the second half, although it's slightly irritating that it hadn't come to a conclusion by the end of the book. -
Bookies, Runners, dead bodies, and wedding cakes are keeping things interesting in Morelville.
Sheriff Mel Crane and her fiancée Dana Rossi are trying to plan their future when a body literally falls out of a pickup truck the night before the big 4H Fair starts. In between, helping her niece and nephew showcase their animals and worry about her father’s health, Crane has to find a murderer. During the crazy week of the 4H which turns out to be more than just showing animals as crime hits the fair, another body appears linked to the dead body. Crane is hopping from bar to bar chasing bookies and runners looking for answers and hitting dead ends and getting more questions. Meanwhile, Rossi is running around trying to plan their wedding and butting heads with Crane’s family when she decides maybe going undercover is a good idea or maybe not.
Anne Hagan continues Mel and Dana’s story in Hitched and Tied. This book is number four of “The Morelville Mysteries”, but it can be read as a standalone. The mystery is solid and brand new as are the characters linked to it. We meet yet another ex of Mel’s which is interesting as her physical tastes do not seem to have a type. I find her family dynamics to be coming to light and a bit more complicated than what earlier books might have you think. Whereas, we meet Dana’s family in this book and I would be very interested in seeing more of them and their affect on Mel’s family. The sex is pretty standard for Hagan and is the same as previous books. Mel and Dana’s personal relationship takes a back seat to the mystery this time around, which is surprising as their marriage is around the corner. The mystery is complicated though and Hagan gives it the attention it deserves. Oh and pssst...there might be a cliffhanger.
