wow i feel like an object

A humorous fictional advice column for teenage boys of a specific demographic that defies some stereotypes and plays on others.
The discussion of it on the New Yorker podcast raised a good point - why can't immigrants/minorities write fiction that isn't autobiographical? "John Updike didn't write for all white men". There are some offending statements in this story but it's a work of fiction, not an actual advice column. And yet as a piece of fiction it does still tell a certain story about a group of people. -
“tell her you love her hair, that you love her skin, her lips, because, in truth, you love them more than you love your own.”
the emotions i felt reading this: disgusted sad angry
but i think it’s important & it’s scary how relevant this is to this very day -
[Read for my short fiction class]
Not a bad story, but also not one of my favorites that I've been assigned to read thus far. I don't have much to say about it honestly. -
wtf ?
