It Will Rain Reviews
-
I read the first book Dina Kucera wrote, Everything I never wanted to be, in 2013. I gave that book a three star rating. I won’t get into why here, because this is a review for It will Rain. After reading the first book I found Dina Kucera on Facebook. Reading her post, and getting a better look into her daily life has made me appreciate both books more.
It will rain is a book of essays, this allowed me to follow along better than I was able to the first book. Every chapter is another story of Dina’s life, and her family’s life. This is also a book about depression. Depression is something that will often make you feel alone. I have often felt that I am the only one going through it when things get bad.
Dina describes how she spent several months in bed suffering from depression. I have never been that low, but I have come pretty close a few times. This allowed me to really connect to the book and enjoy it. This is not a lighthearted beach read, but a serious book that I feel anyone that has ever suffered from, or knows someone who has suffered from depression should read.
I feel that the writing was much better in this book than the first one. If you enjoyed the first book you will love this one. There is however no need to pick the first one up before reading this one, although you may end up having to get both after you fall in love with this one! -
Prefer the first book to this one. A bit of a laborious read compared to Everything I Never Wanted To Be. Maybe because it is a book of essays
