Eden is sent to Uoria and given the task to test the blood of the Denynso. Only that’s against the rules. She doesn’t want to be that close to them anyway. From everything she’d heard about the species they are more temperamental than her, but her boss’ ultimatum gives her no choice. She goes and gets what he wants or she loses her job, her livelihood.
When Eden arrives she is confronted by Pyra, a man who believes he is god’s gift to women, but she thinks he’s a jerk and doesn’t have time for his games. The more she dislikes him, the more her body yearns for him.
Pyra can’t stay away from the new human scientist that has been sent to study his kind. When there is an attack by Denynso enemies and she lands in the crossfire his feelings come out. She’s injured and never before has he ever felt fear like he felt when he saw her lying on the ground beneath a vile beast he fights. She’s his mate, and he refuses to let her go no matter how much she hates him. Not when he’d gotten a taste of what it would be like to be with her.
Will Pyra be able to save Eden and win her over for good, or is it already too late?

Captured by Sweet Alien (Uoria Mates, #1) Reviews
-
This short story was sort of weird, meh, and bleh. I couldn’t connect to the characters at all. I was so annoyed with the heroine for losing her temper too easily.
I’m sorry. This one just wasn’t for me. Thankfully, it’s a freebie! I believe that life is too short to read books that don’t bring me joy.
I don’t see myself continue the next book. -
What did I just read? I feel like I've been thrown into a concealed box with garbage and sewage water, jostled around a bit then more garbage was thrown in. Let me tell you, it was not pleasant.
*Vague spoilers*
This was how I got thrown into a box... (fake,-this is just a comparison of how I felt reading this book)
The box was beside me as I read...
The starting of the book flowed nicely. I understood that Eden loved her job - being a scientist and all- but she hated her co-worker /Boss who was a perverted prick. I understood her anger and frustration about the new job assignment given to her by her Boss. All this was done nicely. But after, that's when everything went downhill.
I used the box as a footstool to get more comfortable...
Eden traveled for 5 days to the Uoria- a planet similar to earth. The pilot rudely woke her up and got a hammer punch to the face for his trouble (Oh, by the way, this was when she decided to show her anger). She was met by this gorgeous 7ft something alien with killer psychic muscle with no respect for personal space whatsoever.
I leaned forward, my feet still propped on the box...
The dialogue hurt my eyes but I couldn't stop, I needed to see where this would lead. Eden was an angry little bull all the way but the alien found her temper cute and amusing.
I was so focused on the book that I hadn't realized someone was present and pushed me in the box...
Eden didn't like to be touched without permission and the cocky alien knew that but he invaded her personal space even though he said he wouldn't. She allowed him to treat her like a piece of meat and I didn't like that- where the hell was her spontaneous anger outburst and self-respect. Come on! I don't care if he was the sexiest man on the planet or her soul mate but boundaries were made for a reason.
I'm frustrated and in the damn box. Just as I was about to get out, garbage was thrown on me and the box was closed tight...
The slang the alien spoke were similar to earth and that was disturbing. Not forgetting that the King was nowhere as professional as you might think, that along with Eden giving mouth in the presence of royalty of an alien race. Whaaaaaattttttt? *shakes head*
Sewage water and more garbage were thrown into the box and I was tossed around like the tossing of a salad. Oh God! I got some in my mouth as I was screaming to get the hell out...
Oh no! the disappointment didn't stop there. Eden hated being touched because of an ugly past of sexual circumstance, but NOOOOO! that didn't stop her from throwing herself at the alien, Pyra, after meeting for less than a day.
I wiped my face with gritty hands that smelled like shit...
and guess what? Eden felt like shit after the rough sex she had with Mr. jerk with no regards to personal space- go figure! *major eyeroll* I can't even sympathize with her.
It's not over yet! the grand finale was when an enemy alien out of nowhere- who no one noticed walking in open land nevermind the sun setting because their skin is like a beacon in the dark, a child would have noticed!- snatched Eden and choked the life out of her just minutes after walking with Pyra. Come on! really? Pyra could smell her arousal and some of her emotions but he couldn't hear or sense an enemy in the area, hell, just a few feet from Eden.
54+ pages of wasted ink and paper and a good book cover. (I'm finally out of the box filled with garbage just like I'm finished reading this book, way more confusing than college math)...
I feel like the author just got lazy and decided to write just because. I'm not as mad as I'm supposed to be because I got this book for free on Kindle or I would have been tearing my hair out by now.
Overall this book was disappointing. Don't be fooled by the cover and summary like I did- the characters were not realistic and I felt no connection whatsoever. During the read, my face was scrunched up like I smelled something rolled in my cat's shit. I don't mean to be mean but this is my honest opinion. However, I think that this book definitely has a lot of room for growth and improvement.
Book grade- 2 stars:
1 for the book cover and the other star for the title of the book. -
Hot aliens!
Great start of the series. Small and addicting parts to read with open ending. Can't wait to continue with book 2! -
There is nothing sweet about this alien or this story. Ruth is a violent hothead. She breaks a ship's pilot's nose for touching her shoulder after trying to wake her for an hour--and she's unrepentant. The hero is a jerk. Even though he knows she has a big issue with being touched and has been the victim of sexual harrassment, he is constantly touching her in inappropriate ways. Another thing that I didn't like about the book and found jarring was the aliens' language. It is very crude and modern including the hero thinking that his fellow warriors would "bust his nuts" over something. In a society that has no electricity and is supposed to be somewhat barbarian or throwback with few human visitors, this is a big anachronism. If this is indicative of the quality of the series, I don't know how it's managed to last through so many books. I checked out the 10 volume set on KU but I'll be returning it right away.
-
This short book is a cliff hanger. The book is written in the first person. It has an interesting storyline but the personalities of the characters are very juvenile or maybe its because they aren't well developed.
-
I find that the author was creative regarding the title of this book--since it is a definite contradiction to the actual character(s). More like "Accepted Surrender to the Masochistic Alien" would be a more fitting, and a sincerely eye-catching title.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
Essentially, this is a really light romance with some pretty minor sex, to put it best. You want erotica or romance? I've got fifty other titles I could recommend to you that will get you from zero to orgasm in ten minutes.
I understand the avoidant attachment theory kinds of characters--but I do not understand abusive characters. I would understand if the main character lashed out in a moment of self-defense against what they perceived to be an attack. However, as one other reviewer mentioned, the main character punches an innocent bystander character--and the main heroine doesn't feel remorse, and apparently despite the broken bones in the nasal cavity, the pilot has good humor over the whole incident, as though the greatest gift he has ever received is the face crunching she just gave him--because if she is so amazingly hot, a personality or morals does not matter (and yes, I can imagine that half the population may agree with that statement...until she has manically beaten her lover to bits--check for the next book coming soon!).
And later, when her mate caps his hands over her shoulders, in order to chat with her, she knees him in the testicles for touching her at all--even non-aggressively. While trying to recover from his extremely pained heirlooms, he still has an erection for her and finds her utterly arousing.
Maybe it is just me, but I can imagine that no amount of gorgeous would keep a man attracted to a woman for long if she crushed his important particulars. I know of no man who would want said woman handling his particulars ever again if she was that rough with him. But again, maybe that is just my inexpert opinion.
Oh, and even better--later when the sex scene does come up, he is rough with her upon puzzle piece connection and the heroine has no outward aggression for him. Nothing. No punching or kneeing despite the rough sex. So...casual kindness is greeted with violence but punching a pole-like item through the hoo-ha to the point of pain is a-okay for first time sex with someone? I guess my mind is just not complicated enough to figure the logic of this story.
Not that I should expect realism from this book on any level (it is a science fiction alien romance for crying out loud). However, I actually enjoy reading books with characters I can actually like, and find humorous, and generally wish that the characters were real because they are so well written and fleshed out.
This book, for me, failed on all those important points. The characters were not likable. I didn't care when they got to have their measly (and I mean skimpy) sex scene. There was no build-up. I have had tangos with finals exams that could conclude with more romance than this book.
I hope this was the first book in a long list that this author has written, and I really hope that this was a rare flop and she has dozens of better quality books. I'm not interested in reading any of them after this particular book, but I still hope for better stories to be put out for other readers, anyway.
The best thing I can mention is: if you, the reader considering this book, has always detested romance stories for being romantic, kind, lighthearted, soul-warming, genuinely cute, the sex written phenomenally, and it makes you hopeful you can find a love like that in real life--this book is probably for you. There happens to be none of the aforementioned things, I can promise you that. -
I loved part 1. Loved the storyline and the characters were likable. The story was interesting and different to others I've read. Alien books are amongst my favourite to read and I was not disappointed. Looking forward to part 2!

Sorry not for me, a very lack lustre affair in book 1 so haven't gone any further. Found there was no depth to the story or the characters and quickly got bored.

Eden is a scientist being sent to Uoria to secretly collect a blood sample from their strongest warrior. She is being sent under the guise of studying plant and animal life. Her boss is an ass and knows she will be killed for trying to get their blood. He threatened her with losing her job and she agreed, but had secretly taped the whole conversation.
When she landed on the planet, her pilot tried to wake her by touching her, and she broke his nose. When she got off the shuttle, she gets pissed off at Pyra the Denynso who meets her and gets up in her face. She ends up kicking him in his jewels twice for touching her.
She goes to meet the king and queen who think it is hilarious she yelled and beat on their son, because he needed someone to do it.
When Eden tells the king her real mission and that she refuses to do it and that her boss sent her to get her killed, the king demands proof. She made sure her laptop was charged, no electricity on the planet to disrupt its natural beauty. The king found that she told the truth and that her boss hated her and wanted the promotion she was up for and he sexually harassed her and she had broken his nose and his wrist for laying a finger on her.
The king marks her as a member of the family by holding her hand and having a tattoo appear.
Pyra knows Eden is his soul mate from the second he lays eyes on her and it freaks him out. His parents know it just by looking at her.
Eden is very tired and wants to take a shower and sleep, but Pyra won't leave and she tells him not to be a pervert. She feels the sexual attraction and decides to call his bluff. she strips off all her clothes in front of him, watches his eyes turn orange from their normal blue, and he just stands staring. She tells him to come and get it. He moves so fast and throws her to the bed and enters her, she didn't get a chance to say she hadn't had sex in years. Pyra feels guilty and apologizes for being so rough and he thought he took her virginity. They both dress to leave her cabin. It is night and is Pyra's time to patrol and Eden is stargazing.
Eden gets attacked by a black figure with red eyes that starts draining her blood, she is too weak to fight it off. Pyra pulls it off of her and scoops her up, but Eden feels her life slipping away.
This is the first book of the series. -
This whole series was a freebie after another book so I figured I'd check it out because each story is incredibly short. But wow do I hope the rest are better than this one. Everything is random, abrupt, and nothing makes sense here. Worst of all I absolutely HATE the female lead, Eden. I cannot stand when a character is an arrogant, stuck up bitch and the author makes it out as "it's just her temper, that's who she is and she can't help it." No no NO. She should grow the fuck up and stop lashing out at every single person around her. I mean, she punched a pilot in the face and was so incredibly satisfied with the crunching of bones when she broke his nose all because he was trying to wake her up AND HE TOUCHED HER. The audacity! If she has such a huge issue with being touched, she should wear a goddamn sign pinned to her shirt that says not to touch her. This striking out and physically harming every single person who dares get too close to her is asshole behavior. And yeah, apparently there is some traumatic reason from her past that causes this, so it could be a real thing, but still. She's a raging bitch and I hated her.
Nothing about the male lead, Pyra, has interested me yet either. From the second he sees Eden he knows she's his mate and his every action after is dictated by that. His parents are the rulers there and even his dad immediately trusts Eden and gifts her with something that hasn't been done for years. And he just met her! Come on!
That same day, Pyra and Eden fall into bed together because Eden decides to just go with the attraction she feels for him. She literally tells Pyra that that is what she wants. Why then, when they wake up the next morning, is she all sorts of pissed off at him because "she wasn't ready"!? JFC woman. The very end was the most random and abrupt of everything because Eden is attacked by some creature as soon as she set foot outside the door. It was just figgin stupid and unbelievable.
I had thought it was going to be a series of short stories about different couples, but that doesn't appear to be the case as the next story picks up exactly where this one left off with these two. I'll give a few more a try, but if Eden doesn't grow the fuck up, I'm probably going to drop it. I don't care how short they all are. -
This is the second book from Ruth Anne Scott I’ve read today. It makes it sound like a good thing, but it really kind of isn’t. Her books are so short and rushed that I finish the story gaining nothing from it. There is no personality in them and zero depth.
As the other book I read, Taken by the alien prince, it started of good, with suspense, excitement and a general interesting plot. It does not take of anywhere however. There are no development in the story, the personalities (the only personality traits I got was that Eden was kind of rotten and bi***y with a bad temperament seeking pity from strangers. Not really a good and relatable character), the relationship, the pace ... you name it and there is nada development. It’s just so rushed with so little effort behind the romance that I would barely even call it a romance book. Actually I would not even call it a book. The length to the story is the same length as like one or two chapters in a ordinary book. And I think that is the problem. How can you develop and put a personal touch and effort behind a story that is so short. There is no room for it. There is no room for any twist to the story, no emotion or no conflict. This author really need to work on her pace and stop rushing so much. Where’s the fire? Take the time and length to the book to make it great. -
What a crappy thing to do to a reader! The story goes along, then just suddenly stops, like it's missing chapters, I at first thought I got a defective copy until I looked at the reviews. This isn't even a cliff-hanger ending in my eyes, this is manipulation on the author's part, I felt like I'm being forced to pay a ransom to get the remainder of the story. The author needs to learn the art of good cliff-hanger endings that actually encourage you to want to buy the next book, not just remove however much of the end (probably 1/2 of the original story- because that's what it felt like to me). Luckily it wasn't a good enough story for me to care how it ends! It was only good enough to make me mad that this happened. I hated the character of Eden, & there wasn't enough about Pyro to form an opinion. But I wanted to know what the aliens are, why they are so secretive & won't let anyone get a sample of their blood. This was not well written, it felt like it was still a work in progress, the flow was choppy, and the plot had holes, as well as editing/proof reading errors. At this point, I will never buy/read another book by this author, once burned, twice shy...

I enjoyed the beginning of this series. Each books of the series's short and should be read in order. I loved the main female and her smart ass mouth. Starting the next book right away.
Recommend for anyone that likes sci-fi romance. -
Warning! Cliffhanger!
I would have given this a 5 star rating, because the story line is good, but I HATE CLIFFHANGERS!! Please authors, warn your readers that your book contains a cliffhanger! -
Not a complete book.
This isn't a complete book. I wouldn't even consider it a book that ends in a cliff hanger. seemed like an ok start to a book but should say it's only part one. There is a very big difference between book one and part one. -
This is the first of a 10 parts. The book was written then split up. Because of this everything is at a really fast pace and exaggerated.
Not really my cup of tea. -
An awesome read.
-
Boss Me Dirty -
I actually enjoy this short read but the ending got my jaw dropped lol.
-
This was a quick read and started off promising, but the pacing picked up really fast which threw me off towards the end. I liked the world-building and the premise, although the story would have benefitted from further conflict and less exaggerated actions from our romantic leads.
-
Haha absolutely loved this book. I was laughing so hard the first couple of pages. Can't wait to read the next one. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good story but not a book...more like a sample
I really liked the story and the characters and was just settling in for a good read when suddenly the 'book' ended...
I don't mind when it is an up front offer of a sample for a low price but I think true sales go up with directness. Or a free sample..or even a... we took off the cost of the sample from the REAL book's price.
I'll buy the first set and see about the next 'series' as the first is only $2.99.
Having griped enough about the baited line... the story is interesting and different which can be hard to find in this genre. I liked the main characters and am interested enough despite being irritated to cough up to buy the 1-10 'books' to get the full novel. There were some editing issues, but not enough to kill my intent to read the book. Crossing my fingers the promise of this booklet is carried into the 'series'. -
Is it a typo that the title is captured by sweet alien? Maybe it was translated into English? Nope, that is how this story is written.
The situation is unbelievable. Is there not another she can take evidence to in her government? Why go along with her boss's bad decision when she knows he is trying to get her killed? Made no sense. She is supposed to be smarter.
Then she breaks someone's nose because she was woken up and doesn't like to be touched. Really?
Sample: When she realized all the warriors nearby stopped and was watching her they turned brighter and she looked at the ground nibbling her lip.
Yes that sentence is for real. It isn't the only one. And this was at 30%.
Did no one read this before it was printed?! Until this story gets an editor it's not a novel.
mature content with a cliffhanger -
Anger is not sexy
I wish this was a better executed novella. It read to me as something that was little better than mediocre fanfic, meaning pedantic and hollow.
The plot line is typical of this genre with a strange twist on cultural galactic myths. The black hole part reminded me of Fantasia had a baby with Baron Munchausen. I had little reaction beyond a "meh" while reading this. -
Ugh. First installment in a tacky, predictable alien life mate series. Very abbreviated, unsophisticated writing. Nothing is developed. Everything just happens immediately. I'd give one star, except that the writingnis at least comprehensible (except one sentence that made no sense).
I had no problem with it ending on a cliffhanger, because I couldn't care less what happens and won't need to continue reading. -
Good story line but not enough character building or description of the different world. Ms. Scott has the potential of being a good author she just needs to add a little more to this story. This one (which was free on Amazon) ended with a major cliff hanger but I didn't like it enough to buy the next part. Not sure if I want to try any other stories yet.
