Kara Chambers plays by her own rules, she has since she graduated high school. Knowing from experience that her body wasn’t one that guys wanted to keep around, she’d drop them before they could drop her. One night, that’s all she ever gives. One night and she’d be able to get the sexiness, known as Sly Webb out of her system. No complications, no awkwardness, just one night. Yeah, right.
Sylvester “Sly” Webb is living his dream, working full time at the gym for his surrogate father and now, a big MMA league wants to sign contracts with them. What else does he need? His best friend, Lox, is newly engaged to a great girl, but that commitment shit has never been for him. He’s always believed in the “hit it and quit it” system. He doesn’t need a full time woman messing up his plans. He damn sure doesn’t want someone like his mother, who never let him or his twin brother slow down her drunken social life.
Until meeting Kara for the first time, she threw him for a loop. All of that voluptuous sassiness made his head swim. Then she came to his fight and followed him home, but what happened next was something he thinks he’ll never understand. Now, he can’t get her out of his head. In his eyes she’s perfect, but how can he prove that to her?

This book is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone.

Life is good for the boys that work at Marco’s Gym! They are a family and it doesn’t matter that they are not blood. In this remarkable book by S. M Donaldson you are once again emerged into the life of cage fighters and the ones they love. In Sly’s Eyes the focus is on one of the twins we met in Ms. Donaldson’s first book in this series. This is Sly and Kara’s story and the kinks they have to work out in their relationship to find their HEA!

Kara cannot believe that she has once again been lied to by a man and that she had allowed herself to be drawn into his insanity. Beaten, bloody and bruised by her abusive boyfriend, she has no choice but to get away from him before he kills her. She turns to her best friend and her friends from the gym. One of those friends is the man of her dreams, Sly. Sly is the man that she will never let see how she feels about him because she would never survive if he betrayed her.

Since meeting Kara for the first time, Sly has wanted to get up and personal with the feisty, curvy woman. Something had caused Kara to keep him from getting close to her and since he was enjoying the player lifestyle he would wait. When he got the call about Kara being in the emergency room because her douche of a boyfriend had beaten her, Sly cannot contain his fury. Things really heat up when Sly is given a chance to show Kara how he feels about her. But will he be able to keep her safe from her abusive ex?

I can honestly tell you this book kept me on my toes, I couldn't put it done it was so interesting to see Sly and Kara come together through all the bad stuff going on. I love how Sly showed her how beautiful and amazing she is and how he made sure she knew it everyday. I'm so Excited I was able to ARC this book it was Truly Amazing!!!! I was given an ARC of this amazing book in return for my honest review and that is exactly what you will get. Sorry for the vagueness of the book details, but I literately can't say anything with out giving a surprise away. This book is so action packed with suspense, twists and tunes from the very first page. S.M. has truly out done herself with the Marco's MMA Boys series. I really loved the first book about Lox and thought there was no way she could write another to even compare and then she blows my mind with Sly. Sly as we know from book #1 is fun loving and care free, but this book really shows a deeper side to him. I am not sure you are supposed to say this about a sexy MMA fighter, but he is precious!! I never would have thought that he would become the man he does in this book. S.M. addresses some hard hitting issues that happen more then we like to admit and we often sweep under the rug. This book makes you long for love not only from your mate, but from you family and friends as well. By the end you want to hug someone and be hugged by someone. I really believe that S.M. is on to something with the series. I could not put this book down and was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time. I love how both books build off of each other to form this amazing complex story line that leaves you feeling like the Marco's MMA Boys are your friends and family. If you have not started the series yet, you are really missing out! Get "Letting Lox In" right a way and make sure you place your pre-order for "In Sly's Eyes" today!!

    OMG where do I start.....

S.M Donaldson thank you for bringing Marco's Boys into my life... I cant get enough of them!

I thought I was in love with Lox but Sly.... a
www... he is such a sweety. The interaction between all of the boys had me constantly laughing out loud to the point I think my husband things I am crazy :D All of them offer something different and I dont know who I love more.

I loved the Grey's references again in this book... always makes me smile how crazy they get about spoilers.

Both Kara and Sloan are strong females and I think they were perfect matches for Sly and Lox. This book had everything I was expecting and more and is definately one that I will be thinking about in days to come!

Roll on Holding Hucks Heart cant wait to get me a piece of the other Webb twin! This book also makes me think that there is a possiblilty for Gibbs and Jade to have a story (keeping my fingers crossed).

5* star read you would be crazy not to read this series! They are 100% top book boyfriends!!!!! :D

    So good

Sly and Kara are so good. Sly is such a ham, but a true gentleman. There's not many men in this world that would do what he did for Kara, loving her just came easy for him. Kara is a woman dealing with real life issue domestic violence and body issues. Lots of women deal with those issues day to day and Kara, with the help of her friends and a good man dealt with them. I can't wait to read Huck and I hope Jade gets a book too.

  • Debbe Swafford

I love reading this series. In fact I'm reading them again. I like the way the topic of mental and physical abuse were described and handled in the story. I love all of the characters and their interactions with each other. Great series. Now on to book 3!!!!

    5 Stars!

I loved this book! Once again, I have found a new go-to author for me. I picked up book one in this series in the Sheer Strength anthology and was blown away by Lox and Sloan's story. With that, I was so freaking excited for Sly's story. And let me tell you... our tough, bad boy fighter did not disappoint. This book was sweet, sexy, edgy, and quite intense at times. I laughed, smiled, got angry, and cried a bit (only at the end) while reading this book. And expect a few twists along the way!

This is Sly and Kara's story. Kara is broken... physically and mentally. She has had a tough time lately and it just seems to keep on coming. She has a close network of friends and her family, but no one else. With self esteem issues and a bad picker of men, she is a one night stand kind of girl... or she use to be. When she is in trouble, Sly comes running, offering a helping hand even when the obstacles become too much for her. Sly is a fighter and a hit it/quit it kind of guy but Kara makes him want more. When she is need of someone, he decides to step up and be there for her. As these get to know each other better and spend more time together, they slowly but steadily fall in love. When Kara's past comes back with a vengeance, will Sly be able to keep Kara safe?

Oh Sly... be still my beating heart. What a stand up, swoonworthy, badass guy who will steal your heart in the blink of an eye. He was such an amazing man and stepped up for Kara when he didn't have too. And Kara... man after that first scene in the beginning of this book, my heart bled for her but I just knew our sweet Sly would make it alright. I liked Kara's attitude and loved how she gained strength and confidence as this book moved on. I was rooting for these two even when situations got a little dicey at times for them.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series!
    I highly recommend this book!

    5 star

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, anger, secrets, crazy ex, kidnapping, abuse, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Letting Lox In (Marco's MMA Boys #1)

This is Kara and Sly’s story. When Kara is hurt she turns to her best friend Sloan. When Sly finds out she is hurt he decides to hurt the one that hurt her. That sets a chain of events into place that they were not expecting. Kara ends up needing a place to stay and moves in with the twins (Sly and Huck) they can protect her. The more time she spends with Sly the more she falls for him but she does not believe he could want her as she is. She was teased and picked on about her weight for years and she believes no one will want her as is. Kara has her own system with guys one time and then she leaves so they don’t have a chance to leave her. Kara and Sly had that one night but one comment be made in the heat of the moment was taken the wrong way and it was all over. Can he prove he loves her as is and nothing is going to chance that? Can he prove he can protect her? When she comes face to face with her past will she even survive to return the love she knows she has for Sly?

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

    I highly recommend this book.

  • Debbie

Okay, I really didn't think Sly could make me love him as much as I loved Lox, but these men are running neck and neck in that competition. What a great story of finding love and learning to be happy with yourself no matter how much you weigh or what your past involves.

At the end of book one, Sloan received a phone call from her best friend Kara begging her to come and pick her up. When Lox and Sloan arrive, they find Kara beaten and bloody. Turns out her boyfriend Drake had been abusing her both mentally and physically. When Sly finds out, he snaps and shows Drake what it feels like to be punched on.

Kara goes to live with Sly and his twin Huck and they all become close friends. But she and Sly become more than friends. However, Kara's been told her whole life that her body image isn't desirable and Sly is very good at proving her wrong. Now he just has to convince her that he's in it for the long run while keeping her safe from her past.

WOW! The men in this series are amazing. Such sweethearts. They're tough alpha MMA fighters that can win every fight, yet have gentle and caring touches with the women they love. And the girl characters are great too. Not those whiney women who can't make up their minds. And both books have all the same great characters. Makes you feel as though you're there at the gym with them or hanging out at a party.

Told from dual POVs with a good ending. I cannot wait to get Huck's story and see what he's been hiding.

  • Chelly Peeler

Kara Chambers doesn’t see herself in the best way, she’s had self-image issues from way back, spawning from a-hole boyfriends in high school. So she stuck to one night stands - if she didn’t let herself get close to them, they couldn’t hurt her. Until Drake came along, that is. She actually thought he cared for her, until he left her bloody and beaten and her friends had to pick up the pieces.

Sly Webb, rising superstar in the MMA world, has never been into relationships, but Kara could change that for him. He takes it upon himself to help her and prove to her how beautiful she is. It turns out, he’s getting a lot more than he bargained for, but he’ll man up and step in anyway. Is trying to play the hero going to get him in over his head?

Kara feels bad for dragging everyone else into her drama and she knows they will hate her for it, but the Marco’s Gym family will work hard to convince her that she’s family…and they will do whatever it takes to protect their own.

I’ve said this time and again but every time I think I’ve found my favorite S.M. Donaldson book, she comes out with another one that’s even better. I absolutely love these boys and the banter between them keeps me laughing, but there are some sweet/serious moments as well. Keep ‘em coming, lady, and I’ll keep falling in love!

    3.5 Stars

In Sly’s Eyes is book #2 in the Marcos MMAs boys series, I was gifted a copy of the book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.

I liked Sly a lot he’s funny and an all-round cheeky chappy, he still has a fighter vibe but he’s much more vibrant and cocky rather than an alpha.

I struggled with the male characters in the first book in this series because they were a bit too metrosexual for me. Sly is just so funny that he can be as camp as he likes.

I liked Kara; I found her easy to relate to and generally a nice girl.

This book is a lot grittier that the previous book and for me that totally works!!!

This book touches on some disturbing subjects and Drake was a disturbingly chilling bad guy.

The drama and tension added a cool edge to this book and I really started to get into the characters.

I’m completely intrigued as to what’s going on with Elizabeth and Huck but I’m assuming there story is the next book in the series.

I enjoyed this book much more than Lox’s book, in Sly’s Eyes gets 3.5 stars from me.

  • Felicity 'Flick'

Before sly was out I was looking forward to read it and the wait was worth it. First we met sly in lox book and let me say lox book was great but this book, yep I enjoyed this. Mrs Donaldson done another amazing book, she puts across what some girls through May it be what we see ourselves as or who we think is talking about us or what people think. Kara and Sly deserve to be with each other even if Kara didn't think so, sly is the guy who will step up to the mark and just go with it, for the right person though. He has been through and seen a lot in his life but then he knows how to treat a lady from lox mom. Kara is a lovely girl but she thinks worse for herself because of what people say, she meets a guy called drake who just tells her what she longs to hear but things happen and things change. But what got me the most in this book is how Mrs Donaldson brought it all together from beginning to end. You might need tissue but not from sadness but from laughing at Sly and Huck, they make it so much better.

If I could I'd reward this book with 5000 stars it was that good.

  • Books Laid Bare

I was desperate to get started with this and I certainly wasn’t disappointed.
Sly was the consummate bachelor – relationship held little interest for him, well no scrub that – the held absolutely no interest at all but that was until he met Kara Chambers.
Kara on the other hand was a little reluctant to let anyone get close, she had, had her brush with the devil and was adamant that her faith in men was all used up.
She had a traumatic experience at the hands of an ex that can only be described as a reprehensible human being and from that day she had walls around her were virtually impenetrable.
But Sly is sure he can make her see that she is a beautiful woman but was he out of his depth?
When the trouble came calling, Kara was sure that the drama she had heaped on both Sly and the gym, would find her left out in the cold but little did she know that being with Sly would bring her a whole stable of guys who were willing to step up to the plate for her, because being with Sly meant that she had a family she never knew she needed.
A great read, funny but oh so sweet!

  • Ajs Book Reviews

Sly is fighter and also a twin. He loves woman; any shape, size, or color. Women are beautiful creatures to him. One in particular catches his eye and has him feelings things he isn't used to.

Kara is usually a free outgoing spirit, but behind closed doors, it's anything but. When one step too many has her immediately reevaluating her life, she makes a run for it and calls her best friend.

Thru all the notions and craziness, secrets are revealed, friendships are bonded tighter and relationships are formed. When your heart tells you "that's the one" you go for it and don't look back.

I absolutely loved Sly's story!! He is such a comedian but loving and trustworthy. He shows Kara that no matter what she looks like, she's beautiful, especially to him! I love that Kara gives love a shot again. SM has seriously done it again with her amazing words, heartfelt characters and charisma that I love So much!! You'll want to find out all the stuff that goes on in this book!!

    Sly

This was truly a FANTASTIC read from beginning to end. Sly is a MMA fighter with a heart of gold. He met Kara for the first time and was immediately attracted to her but ended up hurt and she ends up meeting another guy by the time that Sly was finally healed up. Kara was a curvy woman with her own insecurities when it came to men and never felt like Sly could truly want to be with her. When these two finally came together it was SPECTACULAR and so worth the wait. What they both went through shaped them to be at a point in life where it was time to give each other a chance and see where it leads. The characters that S.M. Donaldson has created feels like old friends whenever you open up this outstanding read. Marco's Boys are downright hilarious especially when talking about their tv shows or just ribbing each other, I just can't get enough of their antics. I for one can't wait to read Sly's twin brother (Huck) book and catch up with this sensational cast of characters.

  • Samantha

After reading Lox and hearing the twins, I couldn't wait to see what those two would do when they found out about Kara and Drake.

I'm so happy to have had the chance to get an ARC in exchange for an honest review and here we go. Sly is a playboy. He's a fighter and can have his choice of any woman. He's not picky, he just loves woman. Kara has always had his attention especially after their almost one night stand.

Kara is with Drake now, but no one knows the pain she goes through to be with him. When things explode, sly comes to her rescue and offers her a place to stay. Of course we know that is going to be interesting. I just seriously enjoyed this book and can't even go into details because you have to read it to find out. The Goofy Sly does things you dont expect and the banter between the brothers is hilarious and add in Kara. It's just awesome. I loved it.

  • Mags

In Sly's Eyes was a fantastic story, that positively and realistically dealt with two tough subjects domestic abuse, and body image, and I was honestly hooked from the start.

And with wonderful characters, moments of heat, sweetness, sadness, and joy. This really was brilliant to read, and I would definitely recommend it to others, even if you haven't read Letting Lox In or don't normally read stories featuring MMA fighters, as there really is a lot more to this story than a group of characters who fight for a living. :)

  • Jasmine Roman

So Great just as great as the first book but a different story line which it makes it better I hate series of brothers that each book is the same just different names this series is not like that. Sly is so funny and sexy and cares so much it's great. Kara is so strong and been through hell with being in a domestic violence relationship. And the authors are amazing to put in the end of a book a hotline to help domestic violence victims and 10 Signs of being in a domestic violence and abuse soon great.

  • Lorena Tucholke

Suzanne you're simply awesome, when I started reading I was shocked by the violent scene, but then I continued and with every word, with every scene I was more and more in love of Sly, Kara, Sloan, Lox and Huck, the story it's amazing and real, you write about real problems but that's the beauty of the story. I loved the suspense, and the sexies scenes!
I've found a talented author on you, and cant wait to read what it's coming next, don't stop, your job is great!

  • Mindy

    I loved this book.
Im thinking this is one of my favorite series of all time. I loved the characters and how their story has grown since the first book. I love getting to know these mma boys and their girls. I loved how they are manly men but I love their sweet moments and the banter they have when they have those moments.
This can be a stand alone book but I can't imagine you not wanting to read the other books and continue to get to know these characters.

  • Chrys

    Great story

The ending of Lox had left hanging for Kara's story and I wasn't disappointed.
Abuse in any form is always wrong and takes a strong person to come back from. With the help of her friends Kara does that and finds her love along the way with Sly. His tough exterior hides his kind loving heart.

  • Sabra Barowski

Received as an ARC for honest review!

Kara Chambers (self-image issues), so one night stands it is, until Drake. He destroyed her confidence and he beat her.

Sly Webb, MMA fighter, doesn't do relationships. Can Kara be the one?

The character development was fantastic! I don't do spoilers. ONE CLICK TODAY!

  • Rebecca

Up and down emotions but an amazing story! You'd never think Sly was capable of love. He sure did step up to the plate and take care of someone who desperately needed it.

I loved this story! Loved everything about it!

  • Cherie Phillips

loved this story Sly surpassed Lox in my eyes and I didn't think that would be possible. Sly starts out as the typical manwhore but turns out to be so much more. This series is great can't wait for the next one.

  • Lori Walsh, Guaresimo

Another 5 star book. The humor in these books are beyond funny.
    Love this series!!

  • Jennifer L Powell

    Sly hotness

Can't wait for the next book. Love these mma fighters. Strong women characters, not push overs which I like alot. Passion and love, good story lines

  • Amanda Campbell

Wow! This book tackles some really awful topics, but it has a beautiful story. And I truly think Sly is my favourite character in these series. His heart is gold, with awesome chemistry. Now off to find out what's going on with Huck.

  • Mandi Morgan

A couple of hard and uneasy topics are a large part of this book. But it’s handled very well. I really enjoyed.
