Cassandra’s mother Beth holds a welcoming home party for Jake Thornton, hoping to end the feud for good. How can they end a feud when the air sizzles like the Capulets and Montagues, although Beth states there was never a Romeo and Juliet involved? Little does she realise Romeo and Juliet did exist, but they are far from star-crossed lovers.
How can Cassandra forgive Jake for breaking her heart, and how can she give up on her Grandfather’s wishes? He’d turn over in his grave if he ever knew she was and still is in love with a Thornton. Besides, her grandfather left the property to her for a good reason and she isn’t about to give in for love, or is she?

Returning home for her beloved grandfather’s funeral with her two year old son, Danny by her side, Cassandra Kinkaid is unaware that she was about inherit her grandfather’s property. She would now have to stay and work on the farm and she couldn’t be happier it was something she wanted to do. But once word got out about her owning and working on the farm there were quite a few of the locals that were not happy. Over the years there had been family feuds going on between the Kinkaids and the Thornton families and it seemed it was still ongoing.
Years later, Cassie has been working hard on the farm and her son, Danny was settling in and doing well at school. When Cassie’s mother, Beth holds a welcoming home party for Jake Thornton she invites both families in the hope to put an end to the feuds and hopes they can put their differences aside and start to get along, but Beth wasn’t aware of the secrets that were involved and some things couldn’t and wouldn’t be forgiven nor forgotten.
Cassie really enjoys working on the farm, she couldn’t imagine being anywhere else, but when she starts to receive threats from those who want her gone as they want the property for themselves, but just how far will they go to get what they want.
Outback Fever by Aussie author Suzanne Brandyn is a fast paced novel that won’t want to put down. With suspense, romance and intrigue this book has it all with good strong characters, especially Cassie this book is a must read. Highly recommended. -
Cassandra Kinkaid had no idea how she would manage without her beloved grandfather – his passing meant she returned from Sydney with her son, two year old Danny for the funeral; the inheritance of Willow Creek Station, her grandfather’s property, meant she would remain and work the farm, just as he had wanted. But there had been a feud between her family, the Kinkaids and the nearby Thornton family for generations – and it seemed it would continue with her mother being approached at the funeral to sell Willow Creek Station for an exorbitant amount of money. Cassie was not selling though – Willow Creek Station was hers; one day it would be her son’s…
Four years later Cassie was happily working the farm and Danny had started at the local school. But when Cassie’s mother Beth decided the feud must end – it was just a piece of land after all – she thought incorporating a welcome home party for Jake Thornton and inviting both families would be all it took. The secrets of the past were much, much deeper than Beth or anyone else realized though, and when Cassie saw Jake she knew she hadn’t forgotten him; she hadn’t forgiven him either…
Suddenly there seemed to be danger all around Cassie – but she refused to sell; the threat was that she would suffer until she sold the farm or her family would pay the consequences. Cassie was scared; worried about Danny, plus her mother and brother – but she was determined not to give in. What gave anyone the right to drive her from her home; the home that was legally hers. She wondered if her grandfather had been hiding something all along. Would she find the answers? And would she ever be able to forget Jake and their past?
I really enjoyed Outback Fever, Aussie author Suzanne Brandyn’s latest romantic suspense novel. The plot was filled with suspense and heart stopping twists; the descriptions of the countryside authentic. The tension near the end was page turning and gripping; definitely couldn’t put it down! I have no hesitation in recommending Outback Fever highly.
With thanks to the author for my copy to read and review. -
Outback Fever is about two people Cassandra Kinkaids and Jake Thornton who loves each other however due to a family feud between their family unable to be together. Cassandra goes back home to run her Grandfather's station with her son after her Grandfather dies. After four years running the station, Jake Thornton comes back and turns Cassandra life upside down.
Outback Fever is the first book I have read of Suzanne Brandyn, and it hooked me from the first page. Suzanne Brandyn knows how to keep the readers glued to their chairs until the finish of the book. I like Suzanne Brandyn portrayal of her characters in Outback Fever.
The plot of Outback Fever keeps the reader involved due to the twist and turns of the plot you never know what going to happen next. Outback Fever also highlights how your friends can betray you and you will never expect to happen.
I recommend this book. -
Outback Fever is a fast paced Romantic Suspense with real suspense and plenty of action and danger.
Cassie is a strong female protagonist. She is not afraid to fight for what is hers and does not back down to threats. There is an underlying romance theme but the angst is not overdone and although written from Cassie’s POV the reader gets a couple of glimpses of Jake’s thoughts.
A story full of mystery and a few twists all wrapped up in a beautiful outback setting with characters you will find hard to let go of.
If you like to read stories with real suspense, this is for you.
If you like to read stories with a strong female lead, this is for you.
If you like to read stories with a beautiful, outback Australian setting, this is for you.
It’s the complete package!

I received a copy of the book from the author for review, thank you for the opportunity!
Outback Fever by Suzanne Brandyn was a fast paced read filled with suspense and romance! And I loved it! From the start I found the story easy to read, the characters were really likeable - although Cassandra was very stubborn at times! The book centres on Cassandra Kincaid who inherits her grandfather's house and land, which for generations has been the cause of a feud with the Thornton family. She loves the property, and loves raising her son there, but is faced with numerous threats from those who want the land for themselves. In swoops Jake Thornton, the love of Cassandra's life who also broke her heart. At the same time, acts of vandalism, arson, and violence are committed against her and the property urging her to leave Willow Creek Station, the home she loves.
I really enjoyed how the story wasn't just about the romance, even though I loved that too, there was a lot more to it. The Thornton/Kincaid feud was interesting, and I enjoyed trying to work out who the possible bad guys would be! The action and suspense in the book definitely kept me turning pages (well swiping pages on my kindle!), and everytime we'd found out what was going on there were even more twists! I'll definitely be reading more of Suzanne Brandyn's books in the future. -
I have always wanted to visit Australia, reading books like Suzanne's book "Outback Fever" lets me visit in my minds eye. Cassie and Jake were high school sweethearts, but that was a secret. Their families were crippled by a longstanding feud over the Sheep Station Cassie inherits from her Grandfather. 4 years after Cassie returned Jake shows up. She is not over him. Misunderstandings and lack of communication between the two causes them both to assume things about the other. There were a few scenes in the story that made me shake my head and roll my eyes at them both. Cassie hangs onto the feud and blames Jake when suspicious things happen that put her and her son in danger. I felt she was a bit overboard with this. Jake was hard to figure out as we only had Cassie's POV. Even with what I felt were a few inconsistencies, I enjoyed this story and I will read more of Suzanne Brandyn's books.
“I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review” -
Outback Fever is a story with depth and meaning, suspense and a great romance. I'd give it six stars if I could.
There's something special about the Outback and the way Suzanne's stories come alive, with suspense, mystery, and romance even her descriptions aren't overdone, but just the right amount so I could picture everything and have me in the story with her characters.
I loved her last story, Outback Flames, and I can say this one is even better.
Outback Fever captured my heart and took my tears. I followed Cassandra from the city back to her grandfather's funeral at Willow Creek, towing a two-year old chid. I felt for everything she went through and understood the reasons for what she did. Cassandra only finds out about the feud between her family and her ex-boyfriends family, the Thorntons just before her grandfather's funeral.
It takes a while for Cassandra to be accepted into the community, while she takes over and runs Willow Creek Station, left to her by her grandfather.
Cassie her nickname, conceals hurt from years gone by, and when the love of her past life turns up, it puts a splinter into her plans. Now she has to confront Jake, who has become friends with Matt her brother.
With twists and suspense that kept me turning the pages, I found not only this riveting but also the relationship she has with Jake something very special. There is one twist in the story that I absolutely loved and would have never guessed. I recommend this novel to all readers of Outback Romance, and Outback Romantic suspense. -
This is a great read that I couldn't put down. When Cassie returns home to the Outback for her Grandfather's funeral, she finds that she has inherited his property. Some people aren't very happy that she is the new owner, and a feud that has been going on for generations is about to start getting more heated.
Cassie's Mother holds a welcome home party for her son Matt's friend, hoping it will end the feud being the younger generation are friends. Cassie isn't too happy to go to the party for the man that broke her heart, and could he be the one behind the threats to her and her son, although she still has feelings for him.
A nice romantic suspense set in the Outback. You won't be disappointed for getting this one. -
I was asked to read this book for an honest review and let me say I really enjoyed this book. I do love stories from “down under”! I love Cassie, she is a strong independent women. Very well written, full of excitement, heat and romance. Well worth the read!
If you enjoy a bit of mystery, excitement and a wonderful story of family this book is for you. Great job Ms. Brandyn I look forward to reading more of your work. -
A good read, but a bit predictable.

Cassie and Jake
I thought the plot to this book was great. The characters were good. There was something missing with the story. Even though there was suspense you never got that feeling that something bad was going to happen even though Cassie ended up hospital several times. I can't put my finger on it, it just seemed like you were reading words not getting invovled with the story. -
Kindle Unlimited. I gave it two stars because I finished it with a lot of effort. The author was so repetitive till maybe more than one person wrote different parts or there were long periods between drafts and she did not remember. Frustration and confusion were my reactions. I did finish though because I wanted to see how she did her conclusion which was like she restarted a new book.
