Richard Antonio David Nicklaus is Montevaro's spare - and he likes it that way. He prefers traipsing through mountains and rafting down rivers to board rooms and state dinners. After one more trip through the Ozark Mountains, he'll have to head home and help his sister prepare for her wedding and coronation, taking over more official duties because of their father's ailing health.

Trail guide Ellie Brewer is sick of rich, pretty boys, but she's assigned one on her last trip before heading to Montevaro to spend time with her aunt, uncle, and cousin, Charlie, before he marries a princess. She admits Rick does okay - until he fails to follow instructions and she ends up injured miles from where they're supposed to be.

After Rick takes her on a once-in-a-lifetime trip on their way to Europe, Ellie spends her recovery in Montevaro. When Rick takes off for weeks at a time, and is seen dancing with other women, Ellie wonders if she really meant anything to him. Ellie finds herself drawn to another man, but knows he can't compare to the one she misses. Rick wants to be with Ellie but official duties have him flying around the world and concern for his distant cousin - Queen Christiana of Ravenzario - preoccupies him when he's home. Somehow, he'll have to convince Ellie not to regret the day Along Came a Prince.

Along Came a Prince (The Monarchies of Belles Montagnes #2) Reviews

  • The Flipped Page (Susan K)

    Romance, clean, mild Christian elements
I have read this before without writing a review. This was a great read. CM knows how to keep a story moving. She has created a beautifully intricate story line that has been wonderful to read in all of her novels. I am so hooked (of course). Rick and Ellie's story was beautiful. Their 'accidental' thrown together beginning, and the struggle to find time for each other in the chaos of the confusion and commitments of royal life and all that it entails. Love all the minor story lines, can can't wait to read the final installment in the series. Beautiful HEA that is detailed, full of feelings, emotions, and swoon worthy moments. All the pomp and circumstance of the royal household, with beautiful moments of the beauty of creation and the settings where they are able to be. Lovely, heartfelt, clean romantic read, with honest, human, caring characters.

Slightly less cute the Addie and Charlie, but still great.

    A wonderful sequel!

A great book to follow Addie's and Charlie's story. The first chapter walked right into the action and almost threw me as I wasn't expecting it. It was a great way to learn about both Rick and Ellie. They had so many things in common and were the perfect fit for each other. For a while there, I thought she would end up with Jonathan, and I hope to hear how his story goes in a future book.

Technically, this book flowed slightly better than the first in the series, which shows progression and growth.

    Romances where things actually HAPPEN!!

That's what I like about Carol Moncado. Her stories are very obvious romance matches, but they don't just meet and fall in love. It's a bumpy journey, and sometimes circumstances conspire against them, and sometimes they make bad choices, and so on. And sometimes they pray, but it's not every five minutes, just when it really matters. A bit more tension over the will-they-won't-they wouldn't go amiss (this book did try to do some), but other than that, an enjoyable read.

    Another pretty boy

Just what she needed, another pretty boy to deal with. Ellie Brewer had had all the pretty boys she could take. They always wound up breaking her heart. She vowed that this time things would be different. Unknown to Ellie, this pretty boy would not break her heart, but steal it away.

Adventures, adversity and happily ever after

Ellie has sworn off pretty boys. But, somehow she ends up with one on her guided camping trip. Adventures and accidents happen. But so does love. Will she be able to accept the pretty boy prince?
Well written with updates on previous story lines, I love that!
Looking forward to the next book in this series.

    Hearts and hiking boots

When you love the outdoor life, how do you find your true love? Ellie wants to hike, climb and camp. But she has fallen for a prince! Like the bird who fell in love with a fish, how could they live together?

  • Martha

Richard was not my favorite hero, but I really liked Ellie! Plus, hiking and mountains are familiar to me, so I enjoyed this take on combining real life with royal life!

  • Brandy Hatchel

Love Carol’s books! I can not get enough of them!

  • Deena

What a great story! A lot of romance sprinkled with humor, drizzled with faith and a dash of intrigue. Loved Ellie and Richard, enjoyed getting to know Jonathan better, and really don’t like Henry!

  • Janet

Although I enjoyed this book, it didn't keep me as captivated as the crowns and courtship series by this author.

  • Susan Snodgrass

Carol Moncado just plan knows how to write a great story! This is in her The Montevaro Monarchy series, book 2. This one features Prince Richard, younger brother of soon to be crowned Queen Adeline.

Richard loves hiking and signs on to do an outdoor trek with Ellie Brewer as guide. Well, things kinda happen from there, so no spoilers.

Will Prince Richard be allowed by the monarchy to pursue the woman he loves or must he remain bound by royal tradition? Richard has a deep trust in God for his life and I found that to be very refreshing.

Seriously Carol just writes very well. She creates characters that feel real, their emotions feel real, everything about them pulls the reader in. When I read one of her books, I seriously want to leave everything aside to get that book read! Now! She has a fan for life.
I can't wait for the next one.

*I was provided a free copy by the author in exchange for my honest review, which I have given.

"Along Came a Prince" is the second book in Carol Moncado's The Montevaro Monarchy Series. I loved the first book and I love this book too. Ms Moncado's characters and stories grab you at page one and keep you riveted until the final page.

Prince Richard is a "pretty boy" who wants to be loved for who he is and not his title. Ellie is the girl who is tired of pretty boys but is charmed by Richard. Richard's life is ruled by rules and schedules. Ellie, a wilderness survival guide, is intimidated by the royal lifestyle. The twists and turns of this story will keep you reading all night long and then want more. I highly recommend this book.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and I am so grateful.

Rick shows up on a hiking adventure with Ellie as a guide. Totally running each other the wrong way, broken bones, busy schedules, bossy princes, other available other guys to date...does Ellie really want to get involved with this Prince?! What a great continuation of this royal family series! Awesome development of the characters from book one continued through book 2 with even more characters and now I can't wait to read book 3!

As usual, Carol Moncado does not disappoint. Along Came a Prince is a fairy tale romance between Elle Brewer and Prince Richard..
The writing was descriptive and exciting and I loved the interaction between the characters..
God's hand in their lives is seen throughout the book.
I look forward to more books by Carol.

  • Joyful

This book is the continuing story of family and evidence of faith, hope, and love. I loved that the author presented us with the idea of how glorious Creations of God.
The writing was descriptive and exciting with interactions of the characters. I look forward to the stories of the other characters and further drama of the sister countries.
This was a great book that I highly recommend.

    Did not disappoint

Again, second book similar to the first and did not disappoint. Lovely characters, a bit of intrigue to be carried to the next book. On my way to buy the next in the series. Cannot wait!!!!

  • Marylin

Oh, this book was so fun to read. I enjoyed all the adventures this couple had.
Carol Moncado has a wonderful way with all her "royal" books and this one fits right in! They are full of life lessons and sweet romance.
I highly recommend picking this one up.

    Enjoyable

I loved the first book and enjoyed this one a lot I found Rick and Ellie evenly matched. Once Rick realized he loved Ellie he woke up and claimed his love in the Christian way.
