I was arrogant, pushy, controlling, and I was fine with that. What I couldn't control were my dreams. Memories haunted me there.

Even after over a decade, I found that I couldn't outrun them. Returning to the place they lived only seemed to trigger a landslide. I couldn't focus, couldn't sleep. Some people drank a warm cup of milk, cuddled up with a book, or threw back a couple shots.

Me?

I fucked my way to sleep.

Every single night I lost myself in pussy. For a long time it was the only way I knew to get to sleep. But lately it’s been getting less and less effective. I slept shorter periods of time before the dreams started.

There was only one hope for my insomnia and she was sexy, intelligent and unexpected. I wanted to exhaust myself in her sexy little body and let her soothe me to sleep.

The only problem… she was my therapist and I’d have to break her code of conduct and totally corrupt her before I made her mine.

Warning: This is an erotic serial and contains explicit sexual content and language.

Xander has something troubling in his past causing insomnia. He uses sex as his coping mechanism. An ex lover, Gabriella, recommends he see a psychiatrist and that is how he meets Dr Avery Shaw. Avery resigns as his doctor after things get hot and steamy between them.

The question is, do they both have deep, dark secrets they are hiding? I guess I will have to read the other two episodes to find out!

The only thing I hated about this book was that it ended as a cliffhanger!!! ahhhh! I couldn't put it down!

I was given a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

ps: gotta go. going to buy the next one.

Decently written, but I couldn't get on board with how inappropriate the H was towards the h. Sick of lust at first sight.

wow.... I loved this book more than I should. It was so good I feel a little bit guilty for liking it too much.

This one was a hard one for me. I couldn't quite latch hold of the two main characters for quite a bit of this story. I don't know if the author intended that or not as part of the slow unlayering of these two people.

I nearly stopped at the 60% mark when I was feeling no emotions or compassion for either character. I pushed forward, this wouldn't be a long read for me so I figured I could keep going and hope for the best.

For a first installment of a serial, the author certainly did end it right. I wasn't totally sold like I am with some serials where I'm just gagging for more and screaming RIGHT NOW! But the author pushed out a solid storyline that left a lot of room for us to find out more. Honestly, I don't know how Xander gonna get out of this one because Gabriella is for sure smitten by that one.

I'm almost worried the author is gonna toss in drama and build upon unnecessary drama to keep the readers locked down. I don't see Gabriella as the type to be snarky or ruin things, so I hope the author doesn't pass the buck off to her to cause drama, because at the moment, it is not in her characters traits. I don't think she would be big on hurting Avery either.

Do I want to read the next installment? Yes! I would LOVE to see how Xander moves through this one lol

He's a moron, a total scumbag and a rude , slimy unmannered punk. He's all about how well loved he was by his parents, but I don't see that love reflected in his behaviour at all. Parents who love you make sure you're equipped to go out in the world with reasonable manners and I simply don't think any case of lust no matter how strong will make you behave like he does.

She's stupid and unprofessional. The moment she had any attraction to him, she should have refused to take him on as a client and stuck with it. She caved in so fast my head was spinning.

I understand completely that the story is a work of fiction, but fiction means inventing a story/character that is still ostensibly believable. This isn't.

Is this really the way people behave over there in America? Because I have to say ,they're in a sorry state then.

As an author , at least please make an effort not to be so disappointing. I was really interested after reading the blurb, but a third into it, I couldn't go on.

Meh, totally dissatisfied!!! And angry with people who portray stupid and want to make it luscious by throwing sexy words in just to....what really? Gahhh...nevermind.

A complete mess. H and h behave like spoiled and not very intelligent kids. What he does is not seduction, it’s sexual harassment. And she acts stupidly and unprofessionally. 1,5 stars rounded up because I’ve read worse.

I received this book via Netgalley for an honest review.

Insomnia is the first part of an erotica serial that counts three parts. The other parts are already available.

I must say, that I am pleasantly surprised with this serial. Usually serials aren’t my thing, but this one won me over. Though, since it’s an erotica story the characters get to sleep together pretty fast and that bothers me a little because while I understand it’s a short format, I would have liked just a little bit more build up.

That being said, I don’t feel like the characters are under developed or not enough characterized. In erotica novels sometimes I find it difficult to understand characters because there’s not enough characterization, but here the author somehow succeeded in doing so, giving them some background and mysteries that make me want to read the next part right away.

The writing style itself is great and flows pretty well. Dialogue and descriptions are well-balanced and the bits of background thrown in don’t slow down the rhythm of the narration or the plot.

I like that there’re still many mysteries to discover. In fact, at some point it was a little maddening but in a good way. My curiosity is picked and while I’m a little bit afraid that there’re too many mysteries for only two more parts, it promised some intense twists!

The premise of this story was interesting. I mean, if an attraction between a psychiatrist and a patient isn’t taboo, I don’t know what would be considered it. And reading taboo stories is always fun if done the right way. The thing I regret a little is that that very complication is quickly overcome.

The cliffhanger at the end surprised me and I would have never seen it coming. Either I was too caught in the story to see it coming or the author did a wonderful job at putting that very twist there. While this twist isn’t the reason why I’m eager to read the next part, it still adds a little thrill to it.

In the end, it’s a very good surprise and for once I’m not reluctant at reading a serial.

What do you think of this new serial?

I give this book 5 stars.....

Oh my goodness! This is an incredible book and if you are one to hate cliffhangers, then you need to wait for the series to be complete before reading. This book is hot and I honestly read it in one setting. Xander is hot and all you want to do is help fix him so he can sleep at night. Avery also has a past that makes her appear to be broken. I love, love, love this book and can't wait for the next one! The wait might cause me insomnia.

Xander Pierce is a hot actor, turned movie producer. Something terrible happened in his past that forced him to leave his life in Seattle and run for California. The secret involves his brother and keeps him up at night. Usually a good #*%+ will bring him sleep, however since returning home because of his father's death he can't sleep at night. A stripper that has become his nightly routine and hope for any sleep gives him the name of a psychiatrist. Reluctant at first, he realizes he needs to sleep so he stops by her office to make an appointment. He never imagined the sexual attraction that would instantly spark between the two.

Avery lost her parents at fifteen and lived in a foster home. She worked very hard to finish college and medical school at a young age. Owning her own practice at 27 is quite the accomplishment. However, with these amazing achievements come with no social life and no love life. So, when Xander Pierce walks through her door she can't deny the instant attraction she feels toward the beautiful man. She knows it is not good to be attracted to her own patient, but she continually tells herself she will give in to the attraction. After much resistant, she gives in to her body's needs and tells herself this will be only sexual. She know she is kidding herself, but "delay is the deadliest form of denial."

  • Karinosa

Xander....what a sexy shmexy name! Don't you think? Avery has a lot on her hands the moment Xander flies through her door. Bringing an attraction so so strong heat flies out at you! She keeps her guard up and doesn't let any thing or anybody come through them. And things get steamy and boy do they get steamy...

“Aren’t you the ballsy doctor who called me on my shit? Own your pleasure. Tell me what you want me to do to this pussy.” He leaned in and rubbed the tip of his nose over my clit, and my back bowed from the bolt of pleasure. “Fuck! Oh God!” “Don’t cry out to him for mercy. I’m the only one who can give you what you want. Now fucking beg me.” “Sadistic bastard,” I mumbled when he backed off again. He bit my thigh. I yelped. “Xander… please… put your tongue on my clit… please.” He growled and dove back in. The first sweep of his tongue over my clit was soft and slow… once, twice.

Yes, please! One Xander to go please. Now, there is a cliffhanger and I didn't even see it coming! Good one there Bethany. It sucks, but I am dealing with it. Was a good fast read. There is a big shit storm headed their way. Let's see what happens. I am following through to the end of this one. Not my ususal MO.

No aversion here, I love hanging off the edge of cliffs! :)

I knew I was going to like this book the moment I laid eyes on the cover... I know, I know can't judge a book by its cover.. seriously though, how can I not? That is one sexy man!

"I was arrogant, pushy, controlling, and I was fine with that.."

11 words was all it took for me to 1-click..

11 words was all it took for this book to get bumped up to #1 in my TBR.

I love cliffhanger and serial reads and if you do too, this one will not disappoint!

This book is hot and I can't wait to find out what's behind those almost transparent, soft green eyes.

Bethany has done an awesome job of creating this web of secrets for both Avery and Xander... The anticipation is already building, I can't wait to see where she is going to take it, and how far she plans to push the limits!

4 stars. Enjoyed this short erotic story told from both MC's POV. Xander is a man that is struggling with his past and using sex to cope with his insomnia. Avery or aka Dr. Shaw accepts to treat Xander for his insomnia after he's been referred to her by a stripper bed mate. When he see's her he's immediately drawn to her and so it begins. This story is full of secrets, angst and lots of hot loving!!! This book is part of a series of three novellas and I'm looking forward to part two in this series!!!

  • Kirsten

    3.5 stars...

This blurb sucked me in. It has a pretty good plot and has a big cliffhanger at the end. Longer review after all 3 novellas complete. :)

Sexy actor and shrink have chemistry

I actually liked this mini series. Sexy scenes and good underlying secrets that expose themselves in last installment. Would have liked to see different cover model, this one didn't live up to my vision of Xan. Also would love to see more after issues were resolved in ending.

  • GreenFairy

Didn't grab me as much as I thought it would. I didn't like the characters. They seemed one-dimensional to me. And the insta-lust was rushed. For a quick read that gets through a story quick, this is a good book for that.

Insomnia, episode one of Bethany Bazile’s Sexual Misconduct serial takes readers into the minds of Xander Pierce and Avery Shaw. One’s a man with obsessive tendencies who chooses loose women and limitless amounts of sex to shut off his brain long enough to allow him a few hours of sleep in order to escape his past. The other’s a woman whose profession allows her to delve deep into her patients’ minds in order to understand why they make the choices that they do. Now, here’s where the problem lies. Xander seeks out psychiatric care for a number of reasons; oneo of them being he wants Avery in his bed. Avery knows that Xander’s demons attack him mostly at night and his coping mechanism is to use women, and god help her, she’s insanely attracted to the filthy mouthed ass, which puts her at a cross roads – does she give into her desires or keep everything on a professional level, knowing that that’s the only way she can help him? But when you’ve done nothing but work and help others, a little fun sounds pretty good, especially when it comes in a package like Xander Pierce.

Episode one sets the stage for the drama that will undoubtedly come in the other two parts. Readers are not given much insight into Xander and Avery’s pasts. We know that Xander’s made some major mistakes that have caused bad things to occur, but what that entails has not been made clear. Avery’s past is dark as well, just in a different way. Since her parents’ death, she’s grown up without a family, fending for herself in a system that doesn’t always protect all who are in it. She’s done what she’s had to do to survive, and while she has definitely made something of herself, it’s unclear what she has had to endure and what that has done to her.

What starts as an insane sexual attraction is slowly turning into something else that neither Xander nor Avery are willing to name, and with the secrets that Zander is clearly keeping, it’s unclear how any kind of relationship can form between them when they aren’t showing each other who they really are, and with the complication that readers are left with at the end of Insomnia, it’s anyone’s guess where they go from here.

Wow, Insomnia is one sexy and foul mouthed ride. Xander is quite the main character. As a woman, I want to hate his crass language and his user attitude. He uses women, plain and simple, and it boggles my mind that women keep coming back to him. As a reader, I love him. His whole what you see is what you get attitude makes for an enjoyable read. It will be interesting to see if my feelings for him change when more of his past is revealed. Avery is an interesting character as well. She’s intelligent, beautiful, and she calls Xander on his shit. She seems a bit closed off, but I’m thinking that Xander will work his magic to get her to open up – in more ways than one;)

I can’t wait to see what life has in store for Xander and Avery. With Xander’s baggage, I’m not sure if Avery should stay in a relationship with him, but she’s finally living a little, which she rightly deserves, so as long as her fun time doesn’t harm her, I’m sure she’ll enjoy every minute of it.

XANDER SCREWED HIMSELF TO SLEEP, BUT COULD DR. SHAW CURE HIS INSOMNIA IN MORE THAN ONE WAY …

Xander Pierce was arrogant, pushy, over-controlling jerk, and HOT HANDSOME actor turned producer living in California. Unfortunately due to his father’s time of passing, he had to go back home to help his mother through her mourning. What he did not expect were the haunting memories of his pass coming back in his dreams causing the insomnia. His only fix was sex, a fix that would make him feel exhausted. Unfortunately, his ‘fix’ was not working as it used to so he decided to go see a therapist. What Xander did not expect was the intelligent therapist to be a sexy red head siren, with stunning electric blue eyes named Dr. Avery Shaw.

Avery also had past, which had her fighting her own demons not allowing just anyone to become too close to her personally. Unfortunately, the very same walls she had built around her were coming tumbling down, when she laid eyes on Xander.

“This man was definitely a player, a f**k them and leave them – rip your panties and make you take it type. I needed to duck for cover because interest lit up his eyes.”

There was no denying both, Xander and Avery, were feeling a spark of chemistry, but Avery new her role in her profession too. Xander was going to get his ‘fix’ with his therapist, but Avery was just as witty as Xander.

“You think you have me by the balls, don’t you? That you have your fist squeezed tightly around my c*ck? I’m sure I can find plenty other doctors around here who will give me what I need?”

“I assure you, I am in no way interested in the head you have down there. But I can guarantee you the head up here…” I tapped my finger on his forehead and licked my lips as the temperature of the room increased. “I’ll suck it until it’s spewing out things you didn't know were in there.”

Will Dr. Avery Shaw break her code of conduct for Xander? Will Xander be able to convince Avery to be with him? Can Avery survive the wrath of Xander’s demons enough to help him or will she walk away? Bethany Bazile’s novel, Insomnia, is the first erotic romance volume in the Sexual Misconduct series which Bethany has done a magnificent job writing a captivating story that will have you feel as if you are on an emotional roller coaster of COMPASSION, SADNESS, ANGER, DISTRUST, LUST, FRIENDSHIP, SUSPENSE, LAUGHTER, LOVE and HOT SEX SCENES. Insomnia will capture your attention immediately and will be unable to put the book down. Even though Insomnia does end with a “soft” cliffhanger, hopefully Bethany will not have us to waiting too long for the second novel, with Underneath it All. The Sexual Misconduct series is a trilogy ending with the final novel, Lie to Me.

"When you find what you’re searching for, you won’t have to fight so hard to keep it.”

Bethany Bazile’s first novel in the Sexual Misconduct series, Insomnia, receives - 5 AMAZING STARS!

4.5 Mind-F'ing Stars! If you start reading this one night because you have insomnia, this story will NOT HELP. Once you start reading this story, you won't be able to sleep AT ALL until you finish it!

I have placed my review under spoiler tags, but don't give EVERYTHING away behind it in my review ~ I did this because I have used the F-word (as the book does) in my review.

Dual POV, forbidden love contemporary erotic romance.

Xander - 32, tall, built, light grey-green eyes with brown hair, dimples, too too sexy and handsome. Former actor-now producer, former alcohol/drug addiction, went to rehab, from Seattle, now residing in L.A. His father was a very wealthy man, then the Mayor of Seattle then a Senator. His father passed away and is survived by his wife Susan (Xander's Mom) and two sons (Xander and Ian). The sons do not get along.

There are some serious secrets and the ending is a mini-cliffy. I enjoyed this well-written, interesting plot and will be reading the series!

Thanks to the Publisher for this ARC that I read and reviewed!

    Insomnia (Sexual Misconduct #1)

    Bethany Bazile

This book was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.

It is the first in a trilogy. I recommend that you WAIT until you have all three of them in your hands before reading. I did not have that luxury and it is KILLING me. I need to know all the answers, now and I not good at waiting.

Xander Pierce uses sex and frequent sex to help him deal with his insomnia and nightmare issues. This is the only way he can sleep for a few hours at night. He doesn’t hide who he is or what he needs. His current hookup Gabriella gives him a business card of a therapist to help him.

This has interesting results. He is instantly attracted to the therapist and tries to begins\ a relationship with her. Dr. Avery Shaw is no push over. She does not like his cocky attitude and refuses to see him as a client, only changing her mind as a favour to her partner. She then further resists any overtures of a romantic and sexual type. Even though she is attracted to him she fights it and tries to stay professional. The attraction is too strong between them and soon they are having wild hot sex. She soon becomes his balm against the nightmares and calms them slightly. The therapist in her tries to delve into his past to find the root of the problem but he fights her on this.

The story sets the stage for all secrets to be revealed. Hopefully we shall find out what caused his nightmares and also what secrets she has concerning her past and the relationship she has with her roommate Ellie.

I thought the author did a great job with this story. I was itching to know all the answers, the reasons that he sleeps with so many women, why is sex his salvation? What happened to cause him to hate his brother? So many questions and not enough pages to answer them all. And then when I happened to blink, a cliffhanger of major proportions. Excellent read 5/5.
