Keeping Allie (Breaking Away, #3) Reviews

I received an ARC for an honest review.

4 stars! This series got better with each book!

Allie finds her self in a delicate situation... she is tied up, beaten, naked, and completely at the mercy or her captors. Unfortunately for her, the man she thought would save her is one of the bad guys... Or is he? Chase is unemotional and cold towards Allie until they are alone. She is prepped for her delivery to El Brujo. Jackie is brought in to help her get ready. Jackie... didn't see that one coming!!

This book is full of twists and turns. I was gasping at one point... had tears in my eyes the next page. It was quite a roller coaster!! I wish there was more detail to the end of the story... such as... what happened to "everyone else"?? I felt like Allie and Chase were a bit rushed as well... almost like it was suddenly too easy. The end of the book promises Mark's story which will hopefully wrap up some loose ends for Allie and Chase as well.

Overall this was a good series. I am thankful to Meli Raine for allowing me the opportunity to read and review her debut series. I look forward to more of her work!

This final book certainly didn't go the way I thought it would, but I was very satisfied with the ending. Allie and Chase have gone through a lot over the course of this series but their love surpassed the road blocks put before them.

    Possible spoilers...

The final book in the Breaking Away trilogy. I will admit when I began this series, I was a little doubtful. I wasn't able to connect to the characters. The story was just not very believable. In the second book, I felt a little more intrigued by the story. Now, this book? I was blown away.

There were a few parts that I questioned, but it wasn't enough to take away from the story. The biggest one was when Allie agreed to the date, at the end, she had just had a major freak out over Chase touching her and bringing back memories, but the very same night, she is ready to sleep with him? Just like that? Not very realistic to me for someone who has had a traumatic experience. But the story played out nicely. Another problem I had with the series is that this could have easily been one book. Each book picked up exactly where the last one left off. The stores were short enough to make one good read. I am beginning to hate when authors do this. At least Ms. Raine did tell you up front about it. I hate getting to the end of a book just to find a cliffhanger or you have to read another book for the continuation of the story.

Ms. Raine did an excellent job. With the cliffhanger in the second book, I had a good idea how it was going to play out with Chase acting like he was involved in the kidnapping, but the story went far beyond my epectations. Congratulations Ms. Raine, you have a wonderful series her with a perfect ending.

Great book! It didnt dissapoint either. You pick up right where you left off in bk 2, and you get a happy ending just like the author promises.
Im happy that Allie got a happy ending with the man she loves, but Im not to keen that it is Chase. I liked him in the begining but not too much in bk2.
If you have read bk2 you know what he did, turned her in and was very bad and physical with her. Im not a big fan of guys beating up girls and then the girls go back to them. But in this book it fits right in with the whole MC thing and him being a bad boy. You also get him as the bad guy but he also the hero, since he helped save her. You can tell he feels generaly bad for what happen and he believes what he did he saved her from that Mexican Drug Lord. I do like that she questions everything that is happening in her life and with Chase too. With the experience that she went through, it would be very tough. You actually feel the emotions she goes through, and feel her nightmares too. You also feel Chase's emotions too. This book is action packed, ups/downs, twists and turns. Very good read. It does have a little romance too. And yes Allie does learn to love again and can be touched. Woo hoo. Must read!! Must read whole series, very good!!

    My Rating:

    4.5

    Favorite Quotes:

“My blood smears the floor, marking the grout between tiles. It will stay there forever, a stain that marks my torture in this place. The thought gives me comfort.”

“I sob and sob, unable to move. They broke me. They really dismantled me, heart, bones, will and all. I’m done.”

“I can’t feel anything except my heart, which is being tossed around in my chest like it’s been put in a dryer at the laundromat.”

“His muscles I his arms and legs flex, his abs a bumpy terrain of sculpted steel. He is just so beautiful to watch. Almost too beautiful to touch.”

    My Review:

Keeping Allie is the most captivating, intense, active, and emotional book of the trilogy. I found myself very involved in the story and occasionally cringed and maybe even held my breath a few times. Meli Raine’s absorbing writing sucked me directly inside Allie’s story with this volume, which is full of unexpected twists and ironic turns. No spoilers here, but the ending was well done and brought a welcome sigh of relief, as well as a smile of satisfaction.

I loved the intensity, the characters and how this book ended.

The narrator did a great job, but would of preferred a male narrator Chase/Tim.

I was definitely on the edge of my seat after the end of book 2 and this book did not disappoint in picking up right where we left off. This was an entertaining read. For me, it was just so far beyond the realm of believable. I have an easier time reading a paranormal romance with werewolves and believing they are real than this. It was just one unbelievable event after another. I get it, it's a book and that is the beauty of a book, the author can take you wherever he or she wants to go. You will like this if you like non-stop action, lots of twists, turns and surprises and a hot biker. At the end I was still left not caring for Allie, her choices and her internal monologue drove me a little crazy, she was too contradictory and just lacked common sense. I also felt there were loose ends at the end of the story, a few things were eluded to throughout the series and never brought up again which was a little disappointing. There is going to be more of these characters though in Mark's story which is coming soon so maybe that will answer some more of my questions.

What an ending to a great series!! I cried laughed and was held in suspense throughout this book in fact the whole series.

The third book started out with Allie being held captive by the Atlas MC to be given to a Mexican drug lord. The reasons behind the drug lord wanting her was such a shocker but learning who had captured her and who was going to help her was the biggest surprise of them all. So much to say but I hate spoilers so I'll say no more on the plot of the book.

This is a series that is so worth reading and I thank Meli Raine for writing a series that was so full of twists, turns and surprises that I hated waiting for the next book! I was given this ARC for an honest review.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes some intrigue, romance and hot bikers and strong women. You won't be disappointed.

Allie is being held so the Atlas MC can turn her over the the drug Lord in Mexico. With Chase there but not helping her, she can only think that he was using her to get close so her could kidnap her for the handover. But does she believe he doesn't love her? Can she get away from the MC? What happened to her sister when they kidnapped her? This is a great story and has a perfect ending. I can't wait to read more, the next book will be about Mark, Chase's brother. So sit back and enjoy this series from Meli Raine, I sure enjoyed it.

Wow, I was not expecting any of that. I am in a state of SHOCK and AWE,
I don’t want to give anything away because OMG that was a perfect ending to this series!
Dang I don’t know if I would have come out of all that as well as Allie did seriously that was some intense stuff.

I do love that she found little piece of heaven with people to protect her and have her back she really needed that.

The rose petals on the bed! <3 Loved that.
Ahhh I can’t say any more without giving anything away. Just know that if you read book 1 and 2 you will love book 3 <3

This series was amazing.... It's unique from all the other MC series I have read. I just loved Chase and Allie. Each book in the series was better than the last. You definitely will not be able to put the books down until each one is read. Congratulation Meli and your debut series. I think you did an amazing job and can't wait to read Mark's story and get more of Chase and Allie!!!

    **Review for full trilogy**
So I am not sure if Romantic suspense is my genre... I didn't hate it but it wasn't my cup of tea . Or maybe it was just this set of characters? I am not sure. I found Allie to be to a point of overly naive through the whole book that just annoyed me. I am all for a hero that has to save the girl and a bit of a damsel in distress story line but I also need the girl even if she needs saving to have her own backbone and her own strong will. At least a little bit. And I know that Allie was raised and groomed for what her father was trying to sell her off into but she still could of had a little bit more....less confused and willing to let people walk all over her... especially towards the end part of the books.

But aside from my issues with the way Allie was written I did enjoy the basic story and even though some of it made me roll my eyes. (Two characters coming back from the "dead" in one book is a bit much...) the writing was well done and it all flowed well. I do already own a few other of Meli's books so I am willing to give those a try at some point to see how I like those.

The conclusion to Chase and Allie’s story left me feeling completely unsatisfied and kind of irritated for wasting my time on the three books. Thankfully I had gotten them free on iBooks. Here we follow the duo as they navigate rescuing Allie from a situation that Chase put her in and the aftermath of that. Stuff we thought was true in the first two ends up being wrong and we don’t really get any answers to a lot of the plot points. The big bad’s don’t get caught so we don’t get any sort of justice for what Allie went through. There were spelling errors in this one and a lot of it had me rolling my eyes with just how ridiculous the storyline had gotten. I read a lot of out there stuff but this one didn’t pull it off well. Don’t waste your time on this series, I hate to be so harsh but it’s probably the worst Meli Raine has written.

Even though I’ve read books from further forward in this world and thought I knew what was coming, I wasn’t at all prepared to deal with what truly happens in this book. This story takes us spinning through dark places to happy reunions and everything in between. Allie and Chase go through a lot in this book. I can’t completely reconcile some of Chase’s words and actions in the situation, but I can understand just how outside of normal the situation is and why those actions may not altogether ring true. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books I’ve missed from this author.

If you left the nastiness and filth out of books 1 and 2 and added 3..and left off the stupid ending..I’d give it a 4 1/2..
I fast forwarded through so much of the first..I know some people like that nastiness, but i think even for those that do it was over the top (what is wrong with people, that think sex and bumping and grinding makes for a good read)
I personally think the writer needs to go back to writing school

Allie has been kidnapped, and it looks like Chase had been helping the biker gang to do. However, things are not as they seem, as Chase is going to be helping Allie, along with someone else from her past that Allie had thought had been lost to her forever... It's sad, heartbreaking at times, but life goes on & there are surprises...

  • Michele

Read the whole series and I must say, it was very good! Despite some proof-reading errors, I could not put it down and wait to read the next book. It had some rawness to it, which I love in my MC books, it had romance, good characters, and a storyline that kept me wanting more.

  • Que

Didn't like that they never told us who killed her step father just let us assume and never understood why we never met the man who wanted her. The mom situation was a little weird to me as well she was sold and then fell in love with the man she was sold to

    OMG

    feeling lost

this story was sad, yeah allie and chase got together, but at the end i still felt sad for them. i didn't feel they got a good ending. too many things left unfinished.

    Keeping Allie

This 3rd book tied up Chase and Allie's story. It left a lot of questions unanswered, so I'm hoping with the next trilogy some of those come to light

  • Aimee

Didn’t see some of these plot twists....

  • Amanda

Again I think this series need to be one book

  • Laura

The conclusion of this trilogy definitely kept me listening. It's full of suspense that I should have suspected since I've read and listened to the later interconnected trilogies first.

  • B Emilie

Better than book 1 and 2.
