Clara Meets The Parents (Clara Andrews, #2) Reviews
-
This is the second installment in the Clara Andrews series and, in my opinion, a vast improvement on the first book!
Clara's relationship with Oliver Morgan has progressed and, a year after the events in the first book, they are on their way to their first couple's holiday and for Clara to meet her American in-laws.
This book was fast-paced and easy to read and exactly what I had envisioned from the romantic and chick-lit tags. Whilst predictable and cheesy, it was the perfect passive beach read. Unfortunately, this isn't exactly my thing, hence the low ratings, and I found it too frivolous for my liking. The characters' focused too much on outward appearances and this was littered with endless descriptions of outfit and make-up choices. However, if you are into romantic escapades in far flung places, girl drama and excessive cocktail consumption, then this is the book is for you. -

Clara Meets the Parents is the second book in the hilarious Clara Andrews series! If I were to compare this series to another it would definitely be the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. It just has those vibes, you know? Anyway, I liked this book a lot better then I liked the first. Perhaps it's because Clara finally shows some growth. Or it could be because the books are finally growing on me. Either way, I really enjoyed reading this one and did so in one sitting. I found it to be laugh out loud funny and extremely relatable. This is especially true when it comes to meeting your significant others parents!
If you are a chick lit lover and haven't read this series yet then I very much recommend it. If you find the first book to be a little slow I urge you to continue the series anyway. It seems to be getting better and better with each book and I am excited to dive into the next one. I actually borrowed it from kindle unlimited right away and will be reading it next! -
Absolutely loved this book. Had me laughing throughout. It's the second in the series and just like the first, was unable to put it down. I actually enjoyed it more and will certainly be reading the whole series!

Equally as bad as the first book. How this is a series of 15 books is beyond me. Still planning to read the 3rd (since it’s short and free) just to meet my Goodreads goal for the year, lol!

this book made me fall in-love with Mexico! The summer feel that relaxes your mind and body is what i basically need right now. Plus, the book-ending proposal of Oliver made me thought, at first, that he was really cheating this time. Oh, i love this series so much! On to the next book <3

I was hoping this would be a nice change from all the Regency crap, but it actually made me yearn for one... Something with an actual POV and better writing instead of an endless ditzy, rambling monologue. I'm sure Clara is a perfectly nice girl. She's just too young and self-absorbed, perhaps. Was this labeled YA? Maybe it should've been. I bet 12-year-olds would like it. Ew. And use it as a template for future alcoholic misadventures. Maybe not so YA after all. This is a book that isn't sure of its audience.

It's fun if predictable.
One small gripe though. Who realistically contemplates moving overseas and repeatedly debates whether they could leave their friends but literally NEVER mentions their own family?? In fact there is precious little mention of Clara's parents at all. Has Oliver even met them?! Is there some deep dark secret? I realise this instalment is about Oliver's parents, but still. Two sentences would have addressed it! -
Fun and romantic
Loved the funny antics and romance. Love stories are the best. Janie was outrageous for sure. Never boring with a psychotic woman blitzes into the mix. Four stars due to numerous grammar and punctuation issues. None of the errors took away from the lovely fun novel. -
Love this Series!
This is Book 2 of the series and it was funny, a little sad and touching all at the same time! -
Fun beach read

Decent fun read. Few mistakes the editor should have found but love the characters. Predictable but feel good. I enjoyed it -

Good
Good, enjoyable light reading.
Clara and friends have a unique sense of humor, marked by too much drinking. A good read. -
Cliche
Standard issue cliche happily ever after story. If you’re into that, you’ll enjoy this book. Easy to read, doesn’t take long to get through. -
It was okay.

Hmm, not sure I want to continue the series. Clara seems to be a bit too ugghh for me.

Five stars as always!!
As per the usual, I enjoyed this book. I loved Lacey’s writing style from Clara’s point of view. It was such a quick and easy read for me.
This book takes place about a year later from the first book, Meet Clara Andrews. Clara is so excited to be going on a vacation with Oliver to Mexico and of course, to finally meet his parents from America. We start off with Clara at work, trying to wrap her days leading up to her vacation. She wants to go shopping before her trip and cannot help herself with all her purchases, including the impulsive self-tanner she buys. When she starts prepping herself for vacation, she applies the self-tanner, but being Clara, doesn’t read the instructions. and turns her self into a stripped, orange mess. The toe polish is horrendous. The way Lacey just describes everything is hysterical. She’s trying hard to become someone that Oliver’s parents can see him with for the rest of his life. She wants them to like her. But of course,Murphy’s law comes into effect when they get to the airport and their first class tickets are downgraded to coach. And it seems it just gets progressively worse for wear from there on out. Oliver’s mom, Janie, doesn’t take a liking to Clara as much. Clara tried to be nice and book them both a massage at the hotel so they can bond. However, Janie has other ideas. She ends up booking Clara a FULL body wax. It was absolutely hysterical and horrifying at the same time. Finally, Clara meets a friend at the bar. This girl is quite sympathetic to Clara’s plight with her boyfriend’s mother. Oliver comes up to meet them and takes an instant dislike to Clara’s new friend. Clara doesn’t understand why but Oliver also refuses to elaborate. It would have been kind of him to tell her that it’s his crazy ex-girlfriend. She is there with her husband and takes Clara shopping for all these really nice, expensive things. She wants to get Clara to like her and try and break her and Oliver up. It wasn’t quite obvious at first, but there was some foreshadowing that Lacey presented the reader with that made you want to keep reading. I really felt for Clara. She finds Oliver and her new friend in the bar together. Clara totally freaks out and leaves her hotel. She is convinced that this is the end of her and Oliver. She finds another hotel to calm down in for the night. She is by herself in a foreign country and she thinks she just broke up with her boyfriend. I think Clara can be a little overdramatic, but this is her story. Eventually, Janie finds her. She convinces Clara to come back to their hotel to talk to Oliver. More Drama happens once Clara reaches the Hotel. She is able to finally confront Oliver about everything and why he was acting the way he was. They eventually make up and head back to England after their holiday.
The ending is honestly my favorite part. I was totally expecting it to come up but I had no idea when Lacey would get around to it. When I read this, I said to my husband, “Finally!” and he gave me this look of confusion. And I said, “The book.” Still having no idea what I was talking about, he humored me anyways. I know I haven’t completed the series yet. But I am in the process of other reviews and reading other novels, but honestly I can’t wait to read Meet Clara Morgan and the rest of Clara’s adventures. It makes me smile and my heart happy every time I read about Clara and Oliver. They are just something else. -
Another hilarious read from start to finish! Clara makes even more of a nightmare of herself whilst trying to impress Oliver's parents on the vacation from hell. From over tanning herself to look like a tangerine before she's even left London to throwing up in her Oliver's mum's hair whilst parasailing, Clara just can't seem to catch a break!
The setting of the story in Mexico with the sun, sea and one too many cocktails really made me feel like I was on holiday with the whole family. I liked the fact that Oliver's mum, Janie was not impressed with Clara in the beginning as it made the story more interesting to read but I always knew she would come around in the end!
Again, I enjoyed the very short chapters as it made me read the book at a much faster pace and didn't give me time to get bored or put the book down. I loved the way Clara is someone that you can relate to even in her moments of madness, as it makes the character more believable.
I think Lacey London is a very talented writer who knows how to captivate her female audience and write a book worthy of a chick lit title!I'm already getting ready to download book 3, "Meet Clara Morgan" and won't stop reading until it's finished!
Another definite recommendation to booklovers who like a good chick lit storyline, which is filled with love, tears and lots of laughter!
5 out of 5 stars.
