How to Avoid Dying in India Reviews
-
As a recent R2I, it's refresher crash course on India.
-
Very short booklet on 8 cultural traits in India that can be stumbling blocks for ex-pats who go to India to live and work: role of power and position, highest value on relationships, vast diversity that is India, murky concepts of right and wrong, indifference to client/customer needs/desires, super-sensitivity to insult, event-oriented view of time (delay), ingrained disorder (lack of western logic). Pretty superficial and I thought the strategies were pretty weak. Much of what is said about India would also be true of East Africa and, I suspect, much of the developing world. From my experience (28 years) in East Africa, I'd say Miller identifies the primary cultural issues that cause stress for ex-pats here.
