Less than 48 hours. That's how long Florence W. Aldridge has to live.

Every event in a person's life is connected. The state of our lives, at any given time, is the sum of everything we have done and everywhere we have been. Our next decision determines, not merely where our lives end, but who we become along the way. How far can one lost woman go to redeem herself by the time the clock stops ticking?

These are the final moments of Florence W. Aldridge...

Note: This is not a short story. It is a vignette, a snippet of time, meant to be used as a companion to SPEAK NO EVIL and TELLl NO LIES. This book does not contain spoilers, so it can be read in advance of the books, but it does not stand alone.

Leave No Trace: The Final Moments of Florence W. Aldridge (Aldridge Sisters, #0.5) Reviews

full of suspense and opening so many possible clues!
After meeting Caroline and Augusta, readers wanted to know a bit more about their mother. So the author wrote this short vignette on the last days of the mother, Florence, shading a bit of light on this woman and her own mysteries. But what did really happen to her at the end? Whom did she meet? Why? A wonderful suspense and look at this family from the inside, with all its secrets and where they could lead to.

This is sixty pages of the internal thoughts of Florence the girls mother who is dead when the first book "Speak No Evil" begins. Having read the first two books of the series I don't recommend reading this until after you complete the second book. It reveals secrets that are revealed in those books in a more suspenseful way.

This feels like 60 pages that a good editor cut out of the first book. It probably should have stayed on the cutting room floor.

I highly recommend "Speak No Evil" and I enjoyed "Tell No Lies."

    Very Disappointing...

This is my first read by this author and it was disappointing. It was a weak storyline and undeveloped characters. It constantly implied or hinted at situations in the main character's life, but without conclusion or a deeper insight. The main character appeared cold and distant yet she was the only character by which you knew the story because the entire story was told through her eyes. To do that is a fine balancing act and it can create and heighten suspense, but if dragged out too long, it takes away from the story. Because of my lifelong love of books, I usually try to give a book the benefit of the doubt, but I can't find any for this one. It read like an unfinished book and even keeping in mind that this book was a prelude to two other books couldn't save it for me. Maybe it would have worked had it not been a standalone, but the beginning of the second book. Nothing is more disappointing to an avid reader than a poorly written book. Oh well, on the search for the next read...

A companion book to a 2 book series you can get your teeth into!

Intriguing prequel that draws you in or rather, a companion to the two Aldridge Sisters stories, gives a snippet of time prior to their mother's death. I had read the first book prior to reading this, so it was interesting to get a bit of back story into what made their "distant" mother tick before her untimely death. As I suspected when reading the book before this, her death was not an accident.
I'm looking forward to the final book and some answers (and to see if I have guessed correctly) as to "whodunnit" and to see the development of the sisters strained relationships.
    Recommended reading.

Florence W. Aldridge lived in Oyster Pointe and lived with a deep sadness. Plagued by duty and the knowledge of her daughter's estranged, a son who went missing at the tender age of four, and a friend/housekeeper, she had not much to make her happy. Setting her will to rights, she had a plan for her daughters. Caroline would run the Tribune. The paper that she so lovingly and duty ran. It was her life and would be that for her daughter. Augusta would run the home and update the house. Savannah would relax and write her second book. All in her will that she gave them to live in the house for a year to get any money or property.

This short story shows the last moments of Florence's life.

  • Kat Green

Intense, addictive, moment to moment action! You stay perched on the edge of your seat through the entire novel. Very detailed, creative, thriller filled with the rich history of historical Charleston. A must read series!

  • Jeri

I wouldn't have bought it if I'd realized how short it was. Was expecting it to be about Savannah, the third sister. Didn't add that much to the other stories that were good.

  • Loretta

A short atory about Florence W. Aldridge's last hours. With an unexpected ending. This is connected with the books Speak No Evil and Tell No lies!

  • Tricia Rogers

Gives good prelude to Speak No Evil. Now on to Tell No Lies so I can see if my suspicions are correct!

  • Susan Hylton

    Who was Flo?

Nicely done. This “prequel”. Contained no spoilers, but gave a glimpse into the heart of someone who was only partially known in the other two books of this series.

  • Tarsha Woods

Here's a snippet to why Florence W. Aldridge daughters have a love/hate relationship and what evidence Jack is with holding in reference to her death.

Great introduction to "Speak No Evil"

  • Lynn Leach

    Filled some things in nicely.

  • Danielle Thompson

Great short read to shed some light on what happened to Flo in Speak No Evil! No spoilers so this one can be read before the other two books as a kind of introduction into the stories.

  • Daniela Montero

Un relato que sirve de introducción para los siguientes libros.
Una historia familiar llena de conflictos, amor, odio, enojos y reclamos.
Una mujer que renunció a seguir luchando.
Un crimen y un final abierto.

  • Clarissa Boggs

Quick read but left me wondering who attached Florence . Great book though

A short story that gives insight to what happened to Florence Aldridge. It seems like it was written after book 2.
