The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women Reviews
-
This is definitely on my top ten list of books about anal sex, or top 20 at the very least. I don't think that I could have made it through to the age of twelve without it because my girlfriend was getting a little bored with our intimate life back in grade school. As you all know, lubrication is of the utmost importance, so it was great to see my once-deplorable childhood habit of spitting come in so handy. I found especially useful the chapter entitled, "Making the most of fruits and vegetables."
Seriously, is this a real book? I just came across it randomly here on Goodreads and thought I'd give it one of my non-read reviews. If it is a real book, it would be perfect for Mother's Day or perhaps as a first communion gift. -
No shame in my game! I defy you to find a more comprehensive resource on the subject. As always Tristan Taormino hits all the bases and manages to keep it sexy while doling out super practical information. A+

I am very stingy with my 5 star reviews, and I did not think that any sort of guidebook would receive one, if not only because I reserve them for books that gave me a thoroughly enjoying reading experience. Yes, this guidebook is super informative -- Tristan is often revered as the queen of anal sex, but it was also just a flat out great, digestible read. Taormino loves talking about anal sex, her enthusiasm for the subject gleams through the pages. This is a respectably hefty volume that not only covers what we traditionally think of as "anal sex", but tutorials to make various butt plug harnesses (!), enema use, etc. She answers some FAQs throughout the book, I had most of my "ah-ha!" moments here. Also, there are some seriously adorably retro illustrations throughout the book, preserved from the first edition; so you can reminisce about 90s tattoo fads while learning about positions for making the butt most accessible.

This is another great anal sex how-to book, this one (as I'm sure you've figured out from the title) focused on women.
Once again, "sex" doesn't necessarily mean intercourse, so this book offers information on a lot of different activities that fit under the broader umbrella.
This book is a must-read for women who want to have whatever form of anal sex, as well as for partners who want to have it with them.
Here's what I said about this book in my women's sexuality reading list:
The illustrations by Fish rock! I love to see cartoon type folks getting down and dirty, hot and heavy. The text is by Tristan Taormino, a woman who knows and loves anal sex. Tristen clears up "10 Myths About Anal Sex" in chapter 1 and continues on with "Anal Health," "Tools of the Trade," analingus, masturbation, "Anal Penetration," "Shaving and Enemas," and "Anal Fisting." There are also eleven pages of resources. This book made a believer out of me. -
Believe it or not, Ripley, but I read this for research. For a book. No kidding. I was curious what pleasure there is for the gals in this sort of tabooy bidness. I wanted to see if D.H. Lawrence's description in LADY CHATTERLEY'S LOVER had any valence with the womenz. The best compliment I can give is that I learned a lot. Oddly enough, I've had several friends ask to borrow it. So much for the tabooy.

The butt=awesome. Lots of do's and don'ts inspire one to play and be played with. Empowering!

Disclosure:
It would be a surprise to have such a book in my shelves, I mean since it was designed for women, but I manage to call that book a sexual guide to Anal sex. I choose to have it since Tristan Taormino decides to make sexual education go toward a healthy and happy sexual life. I have this book in eBook format.
My Plot:
"I have to say from the first that I am going to be so open, so please don't get offended". In the beginning of the book Tristan took the subject of "Anal Sex" from a social and religious point of view. She made some researches about sodomy and why it was forbidden according to the three religions, she discusses the social point of view of "Anal Sex" from different dimensions, than she moves to her confessions, she said that she "went crazy the time someone put a finger in her anus" - Sorry for this expressions but it's a quotation from the book. Tristan than.. decides to make some explorations to this orifice, actually the information that she states about anal orifice were so amazing. In the upcoming chapters, she discusses several matters that relates to this subject including Enemas, Anal plays and Beads, Dildos, and what is the right way to use them. In addition some recommendations for the best positions to this "Anal sex" - So sorry again for the explicit language - The last thing she spoke of is "Fisting" - Oh again - in addition to some testimonies made by people who practice this act.
Positive and Negative Aspects:
The Guide to Anal Sex is a kind of new form of books. So it would be surprising for the reader to find some quotes about "Anal Sex" at the margins of each page, or find out some written experience about people who practice this act, The photographs inside the book were so classical, and they get to the point. Another amazing thing was that Tristan were so hard working to bring the idea that "Anal Sex is not a sin, so according to her, it's a sexual enjoyment that everybody need to explore it, and benefit from its pleasure.
My Personal View:
I want to say that I am still a "Virgin" and I don't feel the shame of it at all. "May be I consider it as Chastity" But I would love to say that these kind of books are quite stranger to me, the fact is that I benefit a lot from the experiences inside the book; and I hold my position as a beneficent from these references, but the main point that I see Tristan insisting on is "Lubrication". Actually this word is running through the whole of book. Meaning that without lubrication there would be no pleasure, "That's what I have in mind from this book". Apart from this I hold no objection toward the contents inside that book at all, and that's the reason why I put all these five in the voting block.
Recommendations:
The Book is a sexual reference, so it is forbidden for the people under the age of puberty to have it, due to its explicit language and direct images that demonstrate the "Anal Subject". Apart from this, the book is so useful in order to benefit from its information on the subject of "Healthy Sex". -
Tristan Taormino has produced an excellent, accessible book demystifying anal eroticism and how to enjoy anal play. She covers so many topics that one is hard-pressed to think about what she's missing: anatomy, the emotional and psychological aspects of anal sex, how to discuss anal desires with your partner, safer sex, how to warm up the anus for play, lubricant, toys, positions, bdsm, health concerns, and even a brief section on anal pleasure for men, among others. Peppered throughout the book are questions from readers and participants in her workshops along with quotes from erotic fiction, memoirs, and sexperts, showing the diversity of anal experiences. The illustrations by Fish are wonderful without being clinical and dry. Informative, concisely-written, and helpful.

Sex Educator homework! Super informative and highly readable for folks interested in the topic. A little bit dated, but still valuable.

So, this book ended up on my radar after having to remove a "lost butt plug" from a patient late one night in the ER. It took about 5 minutes into my conversation with this patient to realize there's an entire world of activities, that people engage in, that I have almost no knowledge of.
I suppose my initial curiosity was about what people are doing and secondly about why some people engage in these activities.
This book is 50% informative and 50% hilarious. Lots of detailed instructions on how to accomplish this and that. I found myself wondering WHY??!! and thinking WTH??!! a lot.
Its also official that Ill read just about anything. -
This book is a complete waste of money. I bought it more out of curiosity than anything else. I just figure it doesn't hurt to be educated. But everything this book brings up, I've found on the internet. The information I've found on the net, has been more thorough and complete. This book basically just touches upon various themes. Some things are explained a bit better than others, but after reading this book, I would have had more questions than answers if I hadn't already done my research online.
Google is a safer bet than this book. -
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I got this through the library a few years ago, along with The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Men, to do a bit of compare and contrast. While I didn't find the answer to my technical question/theory, I was just reminded the other night of something I learned from this book that I wasn't expecting. Tristan goes into the technique she's taught herself for keeping her ass shaved, and says that without any hair in the crack, there's nothing to keep one's farts silent. I was skeptical about this broad assertion until I got waxed for the first time two nights ago. Now I know it's true, and I might have to check this book out again soon and see what other good gems I skimmed over the first time.
-
There was some useful info in this book, but not a lot of stories from folks who tried it and liked it. There was sort of a step by step, but honestly I've not tried any of them so I can't even share how it went.
-
This is quite educative. After recently reading a novel touching on this subject amongst many in the past I figured it best to seek a guide book on the subject. I wasn't dissapointed after reading this book. It concisely and repeatedly (without being a bore), elucidate on the myths, practices, protections, pros & cons, professional and experienced, and many referenced resources to seek more info. So while this new and richer knowledge hasn't changed my mind, I do feel resources like this help to make the very core of human existence (sex) less cliché and more invigorating
-
Hard to find a more in depth guide to the subject. She explains step by step and covers all the bases regarding safe practices.
She is highly knee on providing medically aproved information about the risks and stds involved which makes it a recommendable book for anyone interested in the topic -
This book is straightforward in its contents and advice, most of which is good. I can't say I learned a whole lot from reading it but I would recommend it to those who are curious.
-
A must read if you want to explore anal play in a fun and pain-free way. Tristan is the best author and speaker to learn from when it comes to anal sex. So educational, so thorough!
-
OK read. Lots of info.
-
Does have some great information.

The 1-5 Star Review is the total of what I have to say about this book, specifically.
Caveat: This review is historical/archival in nature. It was likely in the neighborhood of twenty years ago when I read this. Date read is speculative.
This book is one of many non-fiction books I have read about human sexuality. At some point in my youth, I consumed a large swath of this reading material -- most of which was scholarly, clinical, or instructional in nature. (I was totally a Dr. Ruth and Anka Radakovich fangirl.)
Some societal attitudes have changed, new science is in, etc. -- so this review cannot account for modern sensibilities and current knowledge. On the other hand, there's not much new under the sun. -
I swear I learned more about rectal and anal health in this book than I ever did in any high school health class. Including STDs and other health complications.
Thanks, abstinence only education. *rolls eyes*
This is the first book I've read on anal sex, and I learned SO MUCH. The author is down-to-earth, uses humor and sarcasm, and explains the topic with much-needed honesty. One of her stated goals is to inform on what exactly anal sex is, isn't, and to dispel myths about it.
Definitely accomplished that.
I would recommend this book to those who are simply curious about anal sex, want to learn more about the act, or writers who want to do research. -
How I reached this book is a separate essay unto itself, but here I am.
Long review made short----
I would recommend this book to anybody trying to learn about the issue, with the added pointer that it took me years of extensive, confusing, and expensive research to learn what I could have learned by simply reading this book. I have no experience in the area, but the long and winding search for truth amid mere information was a long one. Save yourself the stress and just read this book to get yourself started in the right direction. -
I read books by Tristan Taormino, the femme-presenting lady who likes ladies and has done stuff with men but doesn't identify as bisexual. Interesting book. The video was a lot of fun. It's fun to watch authors act in their own movies based on their works.

Do I really need to say anything? This is Tristan. You already know if you're reading this book that you want to try anal. And after reading, you will.
