Get Started With Scrivener For Windows (Scrivener Unleashed Book 2) Reviews

I was looking for a good primer on compiling books from Scrivener for the Kindle. There's a lot of free to find 'how to' advice out there and lots of YouTube videos but almost every one of those articles and videos that I found advocated compiling them not as .mobi files for upload to Kindle but as something else and then taking that and converting it to .mobi using another piece of software. I bought Scrivener to use Scrivener, period.
This book is short on actual content. The author holds all the good stuff for the two 'how to' videos that you get free access to (after signing up with your name and email address) for buying the book. I skipped the first video that shows all his Scrivener tricks and tried to go right to the second one where he pulls an MS Word document into Scrivener, sets it up as he wants it and compiles it for Kindle. The link I got in exchange for my email took me to the correct page but the video wouldn't load. I got error messages every time I tried.
I had to email the author (using the form right below the video) and ask for a direct link to watch it. I received the link sometime overnight but I again had to give my name and email address for access to it. The new link did work.
The video is excellent. It takes you step by step through the process to go from MS Word, to Scrivener (even if you've never touched the program before this) through a Kindle preview and even out to KDP and through that process.
A complete Scrivener beginner and even a complete KDP beginner could use this book/video combo and come up with a very presentable Kindle book. The 2nd video alone is worth the low price of the book. It's too bad you have to buy the book and then give up your personal information to get the video. That and the hoops I had to jump through to get a working video link are the only reasons I gave this four stars instead of five. -
Hook, line and sinker
Gotta admit, I was just looking for the discount on Scrivener software. I took the free video lessons and I bit hard. Wound up signing up for the course, and will put off paying for the software until the trial period is over. -
I really love Scrivener, and I'm not a beginner at it. Still, I can't resist a free how-to book.
The really great thing about this book is that it links you to free tutorials and videos on Scrivener. All you have to do is subscribe to the author's website. There are other more advanced tutorials for which you have to pay, but the basics are completely free. They come in small bites, and you can replay them as much as you like. I've been using Scrivener for about a year and a half and have got reasonably competent with it, but some details have escaped me, so I've learned simple things already and I'm only about half-way through the videos at the moment. Next one up is that bugbear compiling, which I've always had problems with.
Scrivener is a really great program, and they do provide tutorials which are pretty good, but if you're struggling a bit, or just interested in what you don't know you don't know, I recommend this book. -
Learn slip Scrivener Fast - No kidding
I purchased Scrivener when it was first introduced tried it but kept going back to word.
After reading David's book, I actually began understanding this great tool. Will also be purchasing his courses. -
Covers a lot of the same things that are in the Scrivener tutorial that comes with it. But it does have some good downloadable PDF cheat sheets and access to a couple of webinars showing step-by-step processes that I am looking forward to watching.

It is a very informative shortcut manual for those new to using Scrivener. Much easier to absorb than the in program manual.
