Big Book of Dinosaurs Reviews
-
The Big Book of Dinosaurs is too good to let go! Published in 1994 but this classic picture book has large print and colorful pictures that is a big hit still, in 2020. Kids are fascinated with the visual introduction of dinosaurs in this first book for young children. Intriguing amazing artwork you will want to explore face to face.
This informational dinosaur book will make a great gift for any child or an added favorite to your classroom library. This Big Book of Dinosaurs is recommended for children ages 5-8 who are looking to discover dinosaurs for the first time and published by
D.K. Publishing. The front cover captures the eye of children with the attractive large print of dinosaurs and cool design. "Today's informational books for children are designed to catch the eye. Careful attention is given to making both the cover and the contents visually appealing. One company that focuses on attractive book design to entice young readers into nonfiction is DK Publishing (Young, pg. 212)."
I personally would recommend this book to introduce informational (nonfiction) books for children that is both educational and appealing to young readers. This book is a family favorite that has been in our home since 2004 after I bought for my oldest son when he was in Kinder and passed down to my youngest son generations later.
I would also recommend
The Big Book of Dinosaurs if you prefer a more modern and updated version (illustrated in 2015) over this classic. The big book of Dinosaurs by DK will continue to entice young readers to make their own discoveries of informational books. -
My daughter is currently obsessed with dinosaurs, she LOVES this book.

I put this on hold not realizing that it was from 1994. Why any library still has this is beyond me; some of the information is very outdated and the models of the dinosaurs look terrible. Even if it still circulates, sometimes you have to get rid of things!

It was good, but not good enough!!!!!!

While I cringe at the copyright date every time my son asks for this book at bedtime -- I think we have read it 10 times since Christmas -- it does still have some relevant information for budding dinosaur enthusiasts. AND He will never turn it loose now, having found his new favorite dinosaur, the Carnotaurus, a prominant feature of the Dinosaur ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom, listed in the Mighty Meat Eaters section.
No matter the quality of the writing or the imaginative illustrations, a pub date of 19 years ago for a dino book puts this one squarely on my librarian shame shelf. And I will read it again and again and again....
Oh, the humanity! -
This is another that I read nearly everyday

This book has really very good drawings of dinosaur skeletons, and a good book to encourage an interest in dinosaurs
