This book is mostly a compilation of original music written by Ted Egan about the First World War, not a collection of songs from 1914-1918 that were sung by the soldiers themselves during the war. (And hence it is not like the 1918 booklet SONGS OF THE AEF or the 1960 The Long Trail by John Brophy and Eric Partridge, reprinted in 2008 as THE DAILY TELEGRAPH DICTIONARY OF TOMMIES' SONGS AND SLANG.) Seeing a production with the original music might have made the book more meaningful, but in itself it not what I expected.
It has numerous illustrations.
