Following the death of her parents, Miss Cassandra "Cassie" Richards returns to England, and accepts Lady Royce's invitation to Cornwall.

Upon arriving at the 500-year-old Royce Castle complete with secret rooms and friendly ghosts, Cassie encounters Lady Royce's son Phillip, the bookish and painfully reserved Earl of Royce.

A man of logic and order, Phillip has no patience for Miss Cassandra's frivolous notions of ghosts and hauntings.

Fortunately, there're a couple of loving spirits willing to give the couple a helping hand.

Silly but harmless. A pre-teen would probably love it.

Cassie (Cassandra) Richards parents pass away in Jamaica and she makes the decision to move to England with her Aunt Charis Lady Willowby (but everyone called her Chat as a nickname). They end up accepting an invitation to an old castle from Dowager Lady Royce whom is friends with her aunt Chat. Dowager Lady Royce is excited and sure that her castle is filled with ghosts of Relatives past. Cassie brought her friend Antoinette Duvall with her from Jamaica. Antoinette's mother was a Yaumumi priestess and could sense things like ghosts. Also in the Royce castle lives the Earl of Royce Phillip. He is a studious man who would rather write his books and be inside studying than be outside. Although he eventually changes his tune and likes to spend time outside with Cassie. Phillip does not believe in ghosts and thinks all the mischievous stuff that they do is just the staff moving things around.
We do get to see some of Cassie's past when he shows up and is the villain of the story. We are introduced to a few ghosts of the family. The ghosts do talk to a few people in the book. We see them trying to help the family out as well. I honestly don’t want to write too much more because it would give away everything.
This book got a little silly with the Ghosts but I did like it. I found it humorous. The living characters seemed pretty true to what people can be like. The nice thing is this book did have a happy ending and the author did give us a glimpse into the life they have in the future instead of leaving us to wonder what happened to the characters.
I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

Loved the book, my first from the author!! I loved the combination of friendly ghosts pushing Phillip and Cassandra towards love. Cassandra moved to Bath to live with her aunt after her parents died in Jamaica. When a visit to an old friend at Royce Castle puts her in the path of Phillip and the array of ghosts that live there. A wonderful read and story!!

A Living Spirit (Lessons in Temptation Series, Book 1)

The love story of Cassie and Phillip. Cassie and Antoinette have come to Cromwell, England to visit with a friend of her aunt. Where Cassie meets Phillip, the Earl of Royce and four ghosts. Can Phillip and Cassie find love and help the ghosts? Great love story.

Very good characters including the matchmaking ghosts. The ghosts are very much like Harry Potter ones with their interactions with the main characters and serve to advance the plot. The difference between the romantic spiritial heroine and the Greek scholor logical hero is reminiscent of the couple in Patricia Rice's Malcolm series.

    Full of fun

This story is chock full of friendly ghosts determined to help the living not miss out on true love. A scholarly lord finds his orderly days disrupted by the arrival of houseguests interested in meeting the ghosts rumored to inhabit his home. His logic doesn't allow Phillip to believe Cassandra or her friend Antoinette, until he has no choice.

    Spirited Romance

Fun characters, and the ghosts were as much fun as th mortal ones. A interesting plot for those who like a touch of the super natural.

  • Melanie Atchley Robb

Great story line, I enjoyed it.

  • Julie Martinez

    Just ok

  • Tonileg

Historical English clean romance with tons of ghosts and one silly kidnapping.
We open up the story with the young Miss Cassandra "Cassie" Richards who has only recently arrive in England from a lifetime in Jamaica and is now visiting friends of her aunt at Royce Castle in Cornwall. Lord Phillip, the Earl of Royce falls in love with Cassie quickly with the intervention of the many ghosts in the castle. There is a stupid suitor from Jamaica that comes to makes trouble, but otherwise this was a very blah romance story. I liked the dark skinned best friend's story and would have liked to see Antoinette more as well as her interesting magical background!
This story was edited, but something was too silly with the constant ghost interactions that prevented me from giving this story more then two stars.

I very much loved the writing of this book. To take a young woman who came back to England from a country where they believed in Spirits. Do come to a castle that is run over by Spirits and to make the son both believe and see them and to fall in love with him to enjoy the spirits. I enjoyed the ending of the story. Thank you for writing this wonderful book.

I just did not love this book. This is book one in a new series. Cassandra after losing her parents descides to go to England to visit with her Aunt. This is the story of her adventure while visiting her aunt's friend castle. I wanted to love this sweet ghost story. However, it was just too cheesy for me. Good premise just did not love it.

Another clean author which I was happy about, but needed a little more passion and spice. In the end it was fun and definitely different adding in the spirits that lingered in the castle. Worth reading.

    Review

Not something I would normally read but I totally enjoyed the antics of the ghosts in this story. Quite entertaining.

  • Lindsey DeLost

Sweet but perhaps a bit too contrived with how quickly the characters fell in love. I did enjoy the sweet meddling ghosts

  • Sheila

    Lighthearted and sweet

Pleasant story of new lovers, lively ghosts and an enchanting castle in Cornwall. Just enough mischief and a villain from our heroines past.
