The Helmet (Golden Armour, #1) Reviews

EN: Rereading something from my youth. Honestly I didn't remember the story very much, but I loved it?? I wasn't expecting a teen's book to grab me so much. It has more advanced vocabulary than it seems, the descriptions are amazing and the plot is heavier and more evocative than it seems. It doesn't avoid showing brutal and raw battle scenes and deaths. By the end of the book, I was crying, right in the middle of a public transport. Every time it seems it's going to be a straightforward story, following the common hero's journey, something pulls the rug from under you and flips the table. I can't even complain about the lack of female characters or of any lack of colour or personality. On top of it all, it's set in a fantasy world where common tropes and elements are in a different position than the usual. Well done, indeed.

I read this book in grade 6 or 7 for my book report. I absolutely loved it. It was exactly my type of book. Paranormal, magic and action filled each of it's pages. However, now that I think about it; this book was made for younger readers and if I read it now, I probably would get bored. I definitely recommend it for younger readers who love fantasy. I haven't read the whole series though; only that book.

Demasiado juvenil para o meu gosto. Bom para adolescentes!
