My worst nightmare has come true, I'm one of them now, a monster... the very thing I fought against. If that wasn't bad enough, I've been sired by one of the most powerful, sadistic and calculating vampire Lords in the city; Theoden. It's just the beginning of my new life, hell, i'm not even one night old as a vampire and already I wish they had decided to kill me instead of turn me. I guess this was my punishment for rebelling against them. They're clever that way. Theoden has promised to punish me for every offense I've made against him and I have no idea what's in store for me. I do know that it won't be pleasant. My night of pain and torment is just beginning.

Warning: This novelette series contains hardcore sexual situations between men, not meant for sensitive eyes. I’m talking crude, lewd and full of attitude. This series will most likely either offend you or get ya revved up. This series isn’t going to be pulling any punches whatsoever, so you’ve been warned. Mature Adult Content meant for readers looking for something dark, taboo, sexy, and unapologetic in their paranormal erotica. This is NOT a romance. This novelette is approximately 15900 words.

This one has so much more gore than the first.
It's when the real punishment occurs.
Noel has to suffer what he defied.
    Theoden doesn't forgive.
    He's cruel.

    description

He was to submit to him, no matter how much Noel fights it.
From the moment he had been turned, he's connect to Theoden in all forms.
Noel can't accept that, so he's to suffer painful punishment until he does.

    description

    But how can he accept?
He's a straight guy, never been bi-curious, how can it be so good and why he's so attracted to Theoden?
Only his presence, his touch, and Noel is excited.
He can't imagine being with another guy.
This one was a bit degrading for my taste, so I had to dimmish the rating I gave to the first.

“You might as well give in to your new urges and make us both happy.”

Intense read. Kinda all over the place. Very high highs and low lows in this one.

Noel is immensely attracted to Theoden—and he can’t help it.

I get squeamish with torture. But Noel’s been turned. So it’s helpful knowing that Noel now heals quickly, and that most all pain, for him, is ephemeral.

Jonah shows up! Yeah, the same Jonah who sold out Noel and all his friends/fellow members of the resistance. Jonah’s betrayal is what began this entire mess.

The Jonah segment is extremely humiliating, then turns really hot on a dime.

“Nothing you were matters to me. All that matters now is what you have become and what I will make of you.”

  • Heidi Ryan

This second installment is even darker than the first and I loved it! Noel is truly put to the test. The pain and punishment he endures for his attitude is beyond harsh. No matter how he tried to keep a hold of his humanity, Theoden is going to prove him wrong. Even coming face to face with the traitor who sold out the resistance isn't going to bring him revenge. Every time Noel tries to defy Theoden, he is shown a horror he did not expect. Can Noel find peace as a vampire or is he destined to be twisted to Theoden's ways? I cannot wait to see where his "training" takes him next. If you like your stories on the far side of darkness, you will like this series. If you have a sensitive stomach, move along, nothing to see here.

    awesome! so creative.

  • Drusilla

Well, the title is program in this part. Noel must learn that he is at the bottom of the food chain and worth nothing. So this book is filled with pain, torture and humiliation. So read this at your own risk.
It can't be glossed over either, as Theoden is an unyielding master, it doesn't seem like Noel could ever expect a kind word from him.

When they said he was the most sadistic vampire in the city, they had no idea. He terrified me, telling me what he was going to do to me before he did it was really fucking with me mentally. 🖤🖤🖤

Um...there might have been a moment near the end where I seriously thought I wouldn't be able to finish this... Holy. Fucking. Shit.

I'm trying to think of a description that accurately describes this novella...but I can't. Probably one of the most fucked up novellas I have ever read...in my entire life. I can't imagine how it could get any worse than this...

    >ducks head in shame<..but I love it!

    On to the next!

Yes...a continued mindfuck. Loving this the second time through. This installment seeing Donovan <3 and that asshole Jonah from the beginning. Plus Theoden is in rare form as always.

28% done with Punishment: “There goes that mouth of yours, getting you into trouble.” He walked back over to his tray and removed a long dagger. It shined like silver as the light reflected off it. He came over to me and gripped my chin, forcing my mouth open. I started screaming in protest, but I couldn’t form any words. “I’d like to see you talk shit now,” Théoden said, then he stabbed the knife in my mouth through the back of my skull pinning my head to the leather.

Oh. My. God. What am I doing??

    *keeps reading* :/

51% done with Punishment: “There have been parents who use soap to wash out a child’s mouth when they tell lies or say bad words. This is that equivalent for vampires, but only more lasting and painful. Remember what you are feeling now, Noel. Remember it well so that you think of the consequence the next time you feel like being dishonest. That was only one ounce. The next offense will result in a half a cup. Nod if you understand me.”

90% done with Punishment: “Weeks? Foolish boy, it’s been three days."
My mouth dropped open, I couldn’t believe it. “Three days, how can that be?”
Théoden smiled. “The hunger can drive you insane. You lose track of time and all that matters is feeding.” He sighed. “This was your doing, Noel. I told you before, there will always be a severe consequence every time you disobey me. Did you think I’d only beat you? Is that what you thought you could prepare yourself for? I told you to feed, and you refused. This is what your actions wrought."

    Status Updates (Read #2):
21% done with Punishment: “Now, I like to pierce the cock when it’s nice and hard like this. It really hurts that way, see.”

49% done with Punishment: "Drink it."

54% done with Punishment: "Honesty really is one of the main foundations for building a relationship. Trust is another. You can trust me to take care of you, but also, you can trust me to punish you when you disobey me."
    ❤️ Theoden...what a bastard!

WARNING: underage teenagers for slaughter, death of small children and toddlers.

Aaaaand just like that, I am DNFing @ 98%.

I get it that somewhere out there in a vast universe vampires feed on little human kids all the time, kill two or twenty without a second thought while at it too. You know, every day occurrence and all. Like dingoes and baby koalas, or my friend’s effing golden retriever and baby rabbits.

There is nothing “sexy” in this “paranormal erotica” when it comes to fucking and giving a “pleasant end” to a manipulated (mind fucked) 15 year old or draining toddlers empty, robbing kids of their lives to teach some bad boy a lesson. At least dingoes eat to survive.

I can take in a lot and of a different variety, I can also read about the death of a child in a concentration camp or at the hands of a serial killer, but that’s history and crime, however gruesome and unpleasant and heartbreaking, not “sexy erotica”. With
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas or
The Most Notorious Serial Killers I know exactly what I am in for when I open the book.

Speaking of tags, I am not sure this particular book should be tagged "sexy ...paranormal erotica". All sexsinnes died a miserable death along with the kids. I don't see how the author expects readers to form a connection with this particular murderous character later in the series after mass murdering kids.

Bummer. I was enjoying it a lot up to this point :(

This was book 2 in the "Chained in Darkness"series. This was a short quick hot read like the first book in this series. Noel was fighting against the Vampire rulers when he was caught and now he has been turned by the most powerful vampire, Théoden Lord of District 5, a handsome large man. In Théoden’s lair there are only men who gain power through blood and sex. Noel is fighting this pull he now has toward Théoden and his new vampire brothers he is not gay but he can't help himself. Noel can't die but her feels pain. This book was hot and well written like the first book in this series with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

  • Carol (bookish_notes)

This series is undoubtedly very problematic. The writing is also terrible. But these books are short and on KU and I need to catch up on my reading challenge, so.

I feel bad for wanting to one-star all the books but oh well.

Trigger warnings for very graphic torture scenes, rape, misogyny, piercing of genitals, water sports, emotional manipulation, physical abuse, sexual scene with an underage boy, and death of children.

There is a warning in the blurb that comes with this story – my advice would be to pay it particular attention!

Punishment picks up right where Embraced left off which is not a great place at all for Noel. He has been taken to Theoden’s home where he meets the other ‘children’ and is currently tied up in the basement. Theoden has turned him into his worst nightmare and now he must train him and that training starts with punishment.

He is pierced, beaten, stabbed, humiliated and made to bleed until he can behave in a way that Theoden wants and offer submission. There is still a little fight left in Noel but that is quickly diminishing as fear and his thirst for blood take over. The downside of being a vampire for Noel is his healing power as it means his torture can be prolonged and Theoden revels in this fact.

Like the first book in the series this is short and hard hitting and I was unable to put it down. For all of Theoden’s sadism I can’t help but like him and I am looking forward to see how his character develops throughout the series.

You have to feel sorry for Noel who seems to be losing pieces of himself as he transforms into a vampire and is made to go through the worst kind of torture but at the same time I find myself eager to know what the next creative punishment will be and how long it will be until he craves what Theoden is giving him.

Apparently, I am a bit in the minority here. Ah well.

Knowing that it is part of a series, I wasn’t surprised about the abrupt ending, but there was little to make me want to read the rest (sad face--because I wanted to like it a lot). It wasn’t bad, but I think the author missed out on opportunities for some major “mind-fuckery”. Lots of abuse/torture, but little of it seemed erotic.

Being written in first person POV, there could have been some really big opportunities to get into the MC’s head and suffer along with him on a very intimate level, but it was glanced over in favor descriptions that were more tell than show. I never “felt” his pain or his arousal, and the one scene had me totally scratching my head, anatomically speaking. We know it all hurts a lot, but pain is mentioned as a narrowly focused sensation with a lot of blood and screaming involved. I was simply reading about it all--not being present with him in the moment.
Unfortunately, all that lack of detail made the violence and acts of humiliation seem gratuitous, rather than an integral part of the story.

Like I said, not bad, but with more attention to detail, it probably could have been brilliant. Rounding up to 3.

I've never read a story with such sadistic, badass vampires before. Theoden is the master of the humiliating mind screw. I'm fascinated and turned on by the unique ways he punishes Noel and the tasks he trains him for. I feel for Noel, but find myself enraptured with Theoden never knowing what's next, can't wait to read Lessons.

  • Awilk -never sleeps-

I love these dark reads. I can not wait until the last story is out and I can go back and re-read it all as one long story.

    So much kink

This is probably my favorite of the bunch. So much kink in the best ways. I really like the continuation of the first even more than the last one.

  • Ana King

is this a mutilation kink or is it just that they're vampires? i have so many questions.

  • Missy~

Oh how glad I am that I took a chance on these Nicholas Bella books with all kinds of trigger and taboo tags. No they are not romance at all, no there is no happy couples or happy endings, but YES, YES YES are they un-put-downable and oh so very addictive. Love all these bad boys. Take a chance, you will too!.

  • Graelynn Grimm

    Not Acceptable

Anyone considering reading this needs to know that it contains torture/snuff porn with a fifteen year old boy. I sincerely wish I had had this information before I read a word of this. I like dark stuff as much as the next person but this is just not okay...period.

  • John-Torleif Harris

    Don't lie to Theoden!

Theoden is brutal in training Noel, but clearly effective. Noel doesn't have a chance of resisting being molded into exactly what Theoden wants him to be, but I wonder if that truly is a bad thing...

  • Michele Evans

Wow! Like a car wreck you can’t turn away.

Noel is proving to be one of the most stubborn of Theoden’s vampire children. He disobeys and fights against every lesson. He is now a vampire which means the torture can be endless. Gotta read the next one!!

  • Rachel

Great add to the series. We start off right where we left off with Noel still in the basement not knowing what to expect from this vampire Lord. Punishment is the perfect title for this one, full of piercings, humiliation and more to come for a mouthy Noel. Can't wait for the next.

  • Marie

    Keep it going

The second installment is just as dark and fucked up as the first but now I'm hooked. Will Noel finally learn to submit?

  • ☘KathyD☘

A little over the top at times with the level of "punishment," but I am still enthralled by this series.
