Tigre Danby Castillo, murderer, bank and train robber in the New Mexico Territory, a good looking blond with wide shoulders, slim waist and long legs, (typical bad/good guy) character meets up with gold digger Silas Eustis and they embark on a hunt for gold. Tigre, having thoughts of an ex-love Melissa Hatfield and Silas can’t stop talking about his Mary Katherine O’Malley, the woman he left behind in Denver to become a millionaire. They team up and start panning in Northern California looking for their mother load.

Tigre, hot blooded young man that he is, meets up with a beautiful soiled dove Delcie, and soon become more than just lovers. Tigre, running from his past as an outlaw takes on a new name (aka, Dan Castle) wanting to change his ways and become a law abiding citizen soon discovers the benefits of panning for gold. After he and Silas have a good strike, he sets of on his own the two separating ways, Silas continuing to look for a bigger pay load, and Dan ending up in Denver.

Mary Katherine, a plain looking woman with a slight limp, running a boarding house in Denver the sweetheart of Silas, has waited years for Silas to return to her. Dan makes a promise to Silas to watch over Mary Katherine and take her out so she won’t be so lonely until his return. (Hmmm, trusting man don't you think?)

Now we have three women in Dan’s mind, Louisa, Mary Katherine and Melissa. Which woman will be the lucky gal for Dan, and where in the hell is Silas, and how come he hasn’t come back to claim Mary Katherine?

This is a good book, the author’s style of writing is superb the way she introduces the main characters and the families attached to them. This was not a book that I wanted to put down. There were some typos nothing major which can still be a little aggravating. But it does make you wonder why someone editing does not catch this type of mistake. The book is full of twists and turns that will keep your mind hopping, something always happening to keep the story going. The book makes you actually feel like you’re there in Denver along with its characters watching everything from the sidelines.

Overall, I liked the book and would recommend to Western lovers of Romance. Sara Orwig is a great story teller with a good imagination and knows how to make the characters seem real and alive in your mind. Of course in any good western you have good guys, bad guys, wild animals and Indians. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I gave this book an RT Book rating of 4 hearts mainly because of the typos and an RT Cover rating of 3 degrees simply because I don’t like blonds, but it was a nice cover overall. (Personal preference you know, I prefer dark headed guys personally.)

Dan Castle is a young man wrongfully accused of murder. After hitting it big in the gold fields, he moves to Denver to start a building empire. He brings along a prostitute and sets her up with her own house. Meanwhile, he's courting the bank president's daughter, hoping for an entry into Denver society. A third woman, Mary O'Malley, runs a boarding house to support her shiftless family. Mary is the fiancee of Dan's gold mining partner, who would rather keep digging until he becomes a millionaire than return to poor Mary.
It's a convoluted mess of a story that has some good moments. It's obvious Dan belongs with Mary, though it takes him a long time to see it, which is aggravating to the reader. The ending was predictable, and I'm not sure why it took so long to reach it.

    Really enjoyable western romance

A friend of mine recommended this book to me from Goodreads so decided to check if out and I am ever so glad I did. This is the first book I have ever read by Sara Orwig and it definitely won't be my last. This book is part of a series but I didn't have a hard time following along when characters from the previous books were brought in but I would recommend reading the books in order as I think it would make for a better understanding of those characters and only help to enhance this story by giving the reader a bit more background on Dan. This story has passionate characters and it is not a love at first sight storyline so when true love does hit, it is well worth the wait. Dan, the hero, has some growing up to do when it comes to women and it is fun watching that happen. Very enjoyable story and I highly recommend it.

It was ok, enjoyed reading it, but unfortunately I knew what would be next at most points.
