Gavin Jackson ran away from Pierce, terrified of getting too attached, only to discover it was too late. Freshly graduated, he’s been assigned as one of Pierce’s bodyguards when he is moved to Smooth Rock Falls.
Now, someone is trying to kidnap Omegas, and the two of them need to figure out who and why before their newly re-kindled love is torn apart forever.

Some assholes are trying to kidnap Omegas from the Smooth Rock Falls pack and the gang aren't having it!
In previous books, we learned that Quinn (the Alpha's mate) is actually an omega wolf, along with one of Grayson's little nieces. It turns out omegas are extremely rare among shifter groups, and as such, they are coveted. They have a calming and stabilising effect on any pack that is lucky enough to possess an omega among its ranks. Most shifters instinctively feel the need to protect any omega they come across and would even fight to the death just to keep their omegas safe.
The Smooth Rock Falls wolf pack has been protecting its two precious omegas for a while now and at the end of the previous story (
Michael's Heart) the pack gave sanctuary to tiger omega Pierce and his four best friends/bodyguards.
This story focuses on the relationship between Pierce and Gavin. They've been in love with one another since they were teenagers, but have been apart and heartbroken for many years for reasons I won't spoil here. When this story picks up, Gavin - who is now one of Pierce's bodyguards and has come with him to Smooth Rock Falls - is working to prove to Pierce that he has always loved him and that he is the mate Pierce deserves. Pierce is reluctant to give his heart (back) to Gavin so quickly, but the two can't deny that they are meant to be together, especially with their tigers being adamant that they are mates.
As Pierce and Gavin tentatively learn to trust one another again and finally begin a relationship together, they are also faced with the very pressing threat to Pierce's safety, especially after kidnap attempts are made on both Quinn and Pierce (separately). The wolves and the tiger's must band together to keep their omegas safe and to work out who is behind the kidnapping attempts.
I enjoyed this instalment. I'd even go as far as to say this was my favourite story of the series. I've expressed my love for the Smooth Rock Falls pack members plenty of times before and I've made mention of how much I adore the pack bonds and the strong family vibes they all put out - and that's all still very much true - but now I can add my love of these tiger shifters to the mix, too.
Pierce, Gavin, Jake, Patrick and Caleb were fantastic additions to this series and, once again, I really enjoyed the friendships and the camaraderie these guys shared with one another and I loved the effortless way they fit in with Declan's wolf pack. I especially adored the character of Jake; my heart absolutely broke for this guy, on multiple occasions, and I'm so very glad to see that he gets his own book in a spin-off series, starting with
Accidentally Mated. In fact, I may just have to go and read that one before I continue on with the men of the Smooth Rock Falls pack. -
finally, drama
I read all the books one after the other and while I was originally looking for uncomplicated reads I was getting pretty bored. Nobody is this nice and perfect. Even in the last book 'Michael's Heart' while Michael was being stupid he was wracked with guilt. Here we have betrayal, real bad guys and unrequited love.
Yes, except for the bad guys everyone else is still to good to be true but at least there is a real bad guy(s). -
I still enjoyed this book, but it wasn't my favorite in the series. Pierce and Gavin worked through things a little too quickly and easily for my comfort. I wanted Pierce to make Gavin work for it a little more than he had to. I do enjoy the tiger shifters joining the wolf pack. This is quite the shifter community growing and a lot of trouble could come their way with 3 omegas in the same area. Of course that's just what happens and puts Pierce in the line of fire, before Gavin can even cement the bonds with his mate.

This fifth book in the ‘Pack Mates’ series is another great addition to the continuing story of the Smooth Rock Falls pack. The hints about another omega being moved into Alpha Declan and his mate Omega Quinn’s protection have proven to be fact, and with Pierce the tiger omega now on pack lands, things are bound to become even more interesting. And not just because Pierce has brought his own group of four bodyguards and their issues with him, but because there is a kidnapper on the prowl and suddenly both Pierce and Quinn are in danger.
Pierce has been under tiger council protection since they took him away from his family when he was only ten years old. I think that was an utterly cruel thing to do, but I guess they had good intentions. Pierce has suffered loneliness and isolation because of it, so for him, coming to Smooth Rock Falls and gaining at least some personal freedom is a relief. Pack security is tight enough for him to be able to move around a little, and while it helps, lack of personal freedom isn’t his only problem. Having Gavin around all the time may just be a lot more than Pierce is ready to deal with.
Gavin has been in love with Pierce as long as he can remember, but his father didn’t want him to tie himself down, so he ran away to university, breaking Pierce’s heart. He didn’t do himself any favors either, because trying to forget Pierce by sleeping around was no help at all. Now that Gavin is older and makes up his own mind he manages to become one of the bodyguards who moved with Pierce—but the emotional torture isn’t over. Pierce is hesitant, Gavins tiger has his own ideas, and the continuing threats to Pierce’s safety are enough to drive Gavin crazy with worry.
If you like main characters who need to deal with their past as well as their own preconceptions and fears before they can become a couple, if you want to see them struggle for understanding themselves and each other, and if you're looking for an emotional read that is sweet, hot, and suspenseful all at the same time, then you will probably enjoy this novella. -
Its hard to explain how I felt about this latest book in this series, I mean I did enjoy it but I wasn't totally satisfied with how it all ended and the lost friendship/heartache of Pierce's friend Jake. Hopefully we will get to hear more about Jake because I really felt he got shafted in the end of the book and HOPEFULLY he'll even have his own story even though it seemed Lynn Tyler wrote him off. ;-(

This is a great example of why I love this series! Fabulous characters that you can't help but love, along with a well rounded host of friends who stand by them through thick and thin. As well as intrigue and danger that has you holding your breath while sitting on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series to everyone.

Really enjoyed this one, but my heart is breaking for Jakey :-(
-
Why did Pierce want Gavin so much? I didn't understand how he could take him back after everything :( I wanted better for Pierce. He deserved it.

I really liked this one. Right book in the right mood.

nice story ... but not totally convincing

Fans of the series will know how protective The Smooth Rock Falls pack is over their Omega, who is also their alpha’s mate, Quinn. With the addition of the Omega Pierce from a Tiger Pride into their pack, some obstinate wolves are continually trying to kidnap either Omega they can get their hands on. This makes the pack uneasy, a lot of the shifters are on edge, but one thing is certain. Whoever tries to take either Quinn or Pierce is going to have one hell of a fight on their hands, if they survive long enough to shift.
Pierce Nevitt was taken from his family when he was just a child to protect him. Omegas are rare and when their true nature is revealed to their packs, they are protected above all others. But what the Alpha and Elders see as protection, the Omegas see as a prison. There was one solace in Pierce’s life growing up, Gavin. When Gavin’s father caught them together, he sent Gavin away to college and urged his son to choose another path for a mate. Gavin foolishly agreed and tried his best to find another lover, but the shy, sexy Tiger Omega had already claimed Gavin’s heart.
Now that Gavin is one of Pierce’s guards, he hopes to rekindle the fire that never really stopped burning between him and Pierce. But Pierce wants nothing to do with him, or at least that is how Pierce tries to make it seem. Mostly, Pierce doesn’t want to ever feel the pain he felt the day he realized Gavin was trying to forget him again, it almost killed him. He doesn’t think his heart would survive that kind of pain again. Gavin is relentless though, he and his Tiger sense their mate, and the innate need to protect Pierce. When someone close to the family puts Pierce’s life in danger, Gavin will have to stay calm and rely on the assistance of the pack to bring his mate back home, alive.
This book was full of emotion and passion with a lot of action and suspense to keep the reader engaged and anxious to turn the pages, to see what would happen next. Pierce and Gavin shared a special kind of connection, it was almost like they actually started the mate bond when they were teenagers, before they separated. The way they were still drawn to each other and able to communicate through their minds almost immediately, and both their Tiger’s were almost insane with the need to claim. But Gavin has to show Pierce he’s in it for the long haul, that he won’t up and leave again even if his father orders him to. Gavin has to prove his love if Pierce is going to make the right choice.
What I enjoy most about this series is that it is always a steady flowing continuation from one story to the next. Each book centers around a specific couple, but all the characters and couples are featured in all the books. So you get to see a new relationship form, while watching the previous bonds grow stronger and friendships flourish. Definitely a must read series, just be sure you start with book 1 if you haven’t read any yet. This series must be read in order!

This is the first time I have read anything by author Lynn Tyler, and will not be the last. I love MM paranormal , those are my favorite books to read. Pierce’s Choice delivers on everything I truly enjoy about Paranormal MM romance. Hot steamy guys and stories that keep me reading. This is the first book in the Pack Mates series I have picked up. I think it would be better read in order, but I was not completely lost. I think reading this one in order would give a more in depth read and people who love this series I think would adore this book as well.
Pierce keeps pushing Gavin away. Gavin cannot figure out why the Omega doesn’t want him. Gavin gets assigned to protect Pierce and things get a lot more heated between the two. Even though Pierce still tries to deny them by seemingly throwing himself at other members of the pack. When they come together they have a lot to overcome before they get their happily ever after.
I like the progression of this story, and how Ms. Tyler builds up to the love and understanding these two eventually come too. This story doesn’t feel rushed which can happen when you have stories of mates. When you want to have some really hot men, a great stories and Cats you are sure to remember this is the book to pick up.
Five Shooting Stars -
Another entry (#5) in Lynn Tyler's Pack Mates series, Pierce's story focuses on the budding romance of omega tiger-shifter and his chosen mate, a long-time friend who once rejected him. Their relationship is complicated by both outside danger an as well as interactions among a close-knit group of bodyguards (that may be actually too close to the omega). Fans of other books in the series will recognize the author's nice blend of a paranormal world, couples needing to overcome their character foibles before coming together, heated romantic encounters, and a background setting that adds both a touch of danger and long-term background plot development.
As an additional comment, I find this author's steamy scenes to be among the most realistic depictions of M/M physical intimacy that I have found in the genre. (The descriptions, interactions, and the choice/building of activities ring much closer to my personal experience compared to most other M/M romances I've read). For me, this "realism" makes these stories that much more entertaining and enjoyable to read, even in a fantasy/paranormal genre. -
It pains me to rate it so low since i enjoyed other books in this series, even if i didnt like some moments.
I just couldn't connect with the main couple, because i really disliked Gavin for
I liked Pierce though and just wished he found someone who really deserved him.
Jake was another character i loved and hope to read his story too. -
Pierce's Choice
I loved this book. I have been waiting for Pierce's story since he came to live with the wolf pack. Poor Gavin and Pierce went through a lot of up and downs with what they were feeling for each other. I felt bad for Jake though. I hope a book comes out about him. Erin. -
Eeek. I don't remember this book! Note to self, must do reviews soon after reading.
Re-read on 5/17/15. I liked it. I continue to enjoy this shifter series. I re-read this in preparation for book #6 and while I hesitate to look a gift horse in the mouth, I want Jake's story so bad I can taste it!!!
Bottom line: Bring on Jakey's HEA stat (please)! -
The ups and downs of the Gavin drama was interestingly entertaining. I also thought the unusual relationship between Pierce and his tiger may have a bit much at times but certainly different.
I didn't really care for the Jake drama however but since he's moving to another pack perhaps he'll get his own real soon.
Good read for me -
Pierce and Gavin have know each other for years. But after a sweet start they are separated but time brings them back together. These men each have their own brand of strength and together they are even stronger. But there is lots of outside influences to deal with and their bond is their best part.
-
This was a nice continuation of the series with lots of emotion and action. It was a bit heavy-handed though. I didn't have to be reminded every few pages of how powerful Shannon Cho's tiger was. I recommend this book to lovers of gay romance shifter stories.

3.5 out of 5
I'm not sure how I feel about this book. It was good, but I wanted more. The characters were great, but the plot line lacked something. I'm not sure exactly what, maybe it was a little too slow. A nice addition to the series. -
Thank you Lynn Tyler
That book was just as good as the previous ones. I'm invested in the lives that you write about. No matter if they're tiger shifters or werewolf or even eagle shifters I am there. I gave this book 5 stars because you deserve it. Thank you. -
So good
This is book 5 in the series. It's Gavin and Pierces story. Pierce is a tiger omega who's always loved Gavin. This is their mating story and it's a good one. Lots of feels in this story. Jake really touched me. I just wanted to hug him to bits. -
I need jakes book now!!!!!!!! Argggggg I love this series TT^TT
-
Love this series and I want, Nay! Need Jakes book NOW! Pierce and Gavin had a long hard road but watching them get to the end was delightful.
-
Great series.

Didn't like the fact that Gavin had to f*** with every gerl to forget about Pierce. Why can't Pierce be mated to someone else. Ughhh! *frustation sigh* i like Pierce.
