Subsequently, Kate is puzzled when she notices that her mother has to go out and pay some kind of penalty, and on returning home is taken by her husband to his study where she later emerges rubbing her bottom. Kate's curiosity deepens and she follows her mother to the Accountability Suite in the House of the Guardians. As a result of Kate's investigations, she discovers that domestic discipline and corporal punishment are an accepted way of life on the island - and the reason Kate's parents chose to reside here. Under this regime, many infractions are dealt with publicly with all manner of spanking implements.
This is a rite of passage for Kate, who discovers that the ritual of such punishments excites her, and that excitement is carried through to her intimate relationships. When she breaks the rules, she is up for correction, and joins the other island women on stage, all naked and waiting for their punishment, which is often severe. But she is still inquisitive and discovers there is much subterfuge going on, with hidden cameras in her home. Why is she being spied on? Who can she trust? And who are 'The Five' who have control of everything that happens on Chapel Island? She finds out eventually, and becomes empowered...
The Disciplined Women of Chapel Island Reviews
-
Simply the best DD of the past year. Deeply explores what might make a young woman, never disciplined or "funishmented" before, want to try DD and then how she progresses. Thoughtful take on the man's role as HoH. This was the first book I've read by Susan Thomas; it won't be the last.
My disclaimer: I bought the book, I don't know the author or anyone associated with her or the book, and I wasn't asked to review it. That is, I've nothing to disclose except ... my thanks for the creativity, plot twisting and writing talent of Mrs. Thomas. -
I have to say that is one of my bad habits to read several books at the same time, and sometimes to not even care about reading them to the end when I have better stuff to read or more stringent business to care about.
Susan Thomas’ story is definitively one of a different class, and I could not wait until I knew the final word. I even had to postpone some “serious” activities in order to read it all on my Kindle, and to re-install the Kindle software on my business laptop for that. That was so much relevant that I was also sad to finish… There is here plenty of material for one or two sequels.
Basically, this story bridges some good kink about female corporate punishment and an actual STORY with a plot, interesting characters, accurate details and a good progression in the development of the story. But there is more to it.
I have read zillions of ebooks focusing on embarrassed nude females and on corporate discipline. I want to stress first and foremost one aspect about
The disciplined Women of Chapel Island: There is creativity in this story, and that was nicely framed over the 25 chapters. This book introduces a new perspective while the genre mainly focuses on some stereotypes for scenarios and characters. We follow a new path with a scenario that might actually take place in our world. I will not disclose here the content of the final chapters, yet you have to know that it is worth the wait, and it would also spoil your pleasure to know about the conclusion before you read the previous chapters.
The ones interested in psychologically relevant characters will also find here something more convincing than usual: the story explores what makes a young woman, who was never confronted to any sort of kink before, who was never disciplined before, want to try the M/f lifestyle, progress through the education, and progressively adhere to the principles. There is much more to it than a simple rite of passage and the breaking of a young woman into the submissive lifestyle. The story is therefore very much relevant because it subtly makes an important point for the D/s lifestyle: the female submissive is as much in charge as her Master. Just not in the same way. The final chapter also enforces the general plausibility of the scenario, yet it is much more required as a starting point for forthcoming chapters than as a conclusion.
Last point: this is nicely written.
I spent some good time with this book.
This is my very first book by
Susan Thomas that I read, and it won’t be the last. -
I didn't think that I would like this book as much as I did. Kate and her wealthy parents make yet another house move, this time to their luxury new home on Chapel Island, Kate senses from the outset that there is something both mysterious and exciting about the place. The island is beautiful, though somewhat unusual in that it has its own currency and a police and security force known as The Guardians - and it isn't long before Kate has her first encounter with them. Whilst exploring on her bicycle, she narrowly avoids colliding with a golf cart (the mode of transport on the island) and is later questioned by two Guardians who tell her that her mother will be informed.
This is a strange little island where domestic discipline (DD) and corporal punishment are a way of life on this island and it is one of the reason why Kate's parents moved to it. This was my first time reading this author. The book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.
