I had a goofy smile on my face the entire time reading it...well, except for those times that I was having the uncomfortable hot flashes and happy place tingles. And LAWD did Josh make my happy place tingle. The dirty talking delicious man that he was.At that point, I'm going to tongue-whip your clit until you don't care if the whole fucking town hears you begging. Well I don't know about Melody...but as for me?

Everything that came out of this man's mouth was just...GAH
But it wasn't just sizzling hot chemistry and dirty talk. There was also a great story filled with humor that kept me smiling the entire time. I don't think I have one bad thing to say about this book. I loved the romance between Melody and Josh. Even though things start off pretty spicy with them straight off the bat, it never lessens their chemistry. Samanthe Beck still managed to instill just the right amount of sexual tension into the book to keep you satisfied.
I went into this book without having read the first one in the series (which I was told the main couple was originally introduced in), but I never felt loss. I will, however, be going back and reading that book now because...well why the hell not? I love Samanthe's writing and I also liked the follow up to the characters from the previous book. I'm also grateful that there were no spoilers of their relationship, so I can go back and read it without feeling like I know something I shouldn't. Now I'm really looking forward for more from this series and this fabulous author.

4 Fire Hot Stars!

I’ve been interested in Melody and Chief Bradley’s story after Ellie (the heroine in Private Practice) almost walked in on them in her exam room. I was very interested because
A) I really liked Melody in PP and after what she went through with Roger, she deserves some happiness and a man of her own.
B) Well, Josh Bradley sounds like another delicious character that I would love to read more about.
C) Based on that one little (the examination room gate) scene, I knew this book was going to be hot.
Guess who is up for another hot read?
Uh-huh. That’s right. Safe to say, this book did not disappoint.
The Story
Melody just ended a decade long engagement to Roger, her high school sweetheart, who as we found out in PP, was gay. Their breakup led Melody to question and take stock of her life. Knowing that she spent years trying to be everything Roger wanted in a wife girlfriend and future wife, she wanted to break out of her shell a little bit, just to enjoy sex for the sake of it.
Enter Chief Bradley. Josh Bradley moved to Bluelick from Cincinnati to become its fire chief. His move was part of his plan of becoming like his father. He was adamant about sticking to his plan despite his growing attraction to Miss Bluelick.
My Thoughts
This book started off blazing hot. It was very clear that these two characters were in lust with each other. But after their initial encounter, their relationship sort of took a more conventional approach. And despite Josh and Melody’s stubbornness, you get to see them slowly develop real feelings for each other.
Aside from dealing with their ever deepening feelings for each other, there’s also a small mystery involving an arsonist. It wasn’t a big part of the plot so didn’t detract from the more romantic aspect of the story. I did like that it was there because it allowed readers to see Josh’s professional side.
I loved Melody. I loved how she never blamed Roger and I loved how she sacrificed her reputation somewhat in order to defend him. She was very loyal, not only to her friends but to her home town as well. Josh of course was every inch a Brazen alpha, which means not only is he sexy as hell, he’s also a dirty talker. Of course, he also acted like a presumptuous jerk once but his grand gesture at the end was really sweet and totally won me over.
My only negative, which stopped me from giving this five stars was the fact that this book felt like it started abruptly. Like chapter one read like chapter three. I totally missed that first moment where the two main MCs met because when the book started, both of them are already well into humping each other. I would have loved to see how they react to each other the first time.
Aside from that tiny miss, this book still delivered story-wise and writing-wise. Yes, I enjoyed it very, very much. And yes, I am looking forward to next book in this series.

4 Bow Chicka Bow Wow with a Side of Heart Stars

I admit it... I am easy when there is a hunky, Alpha male and he happens to be a dirty talker... nothing pleases me as much when I am in the mood for these types of tales. I have found Samantha Beck has come up with just the right combination of steam, humor and heart in her books. She places people in situations which are not difficult to relate too... they are not so out of the realm of reality for us to actually be able to place ourselves in the character's place.
In Light Her Fire, we find two people experiencing change... one because it was his choice; Josh was at the glass ceiling of his firefighter's career. He had reached the highest level in his city of Cincinnati. He was in a holding pattern as the assistant Fire Chief. Wishing to live up the his father's goal for him, he decides to take a Fire Chief's position in Bluelick,Kentucky. Although it is more like a caricature of a sleepy little town, it would be a step closer to where his career needed to be. Josh knows all of the big city excitement he is used to will not be there and is figuring out how to adjust to the changes.
What he doesn't need to adjust is the view of the prim and proper Melody Merritt; she is a vision which he never gets tired of seeing. She is the golden girl... with roots which go back to the beginning of the town. She is a "good girl" who has walked the path of the loyal....waiting for the high school sweetheart to finally come back and marry her.
Instead of doing just that... the fiance drops a private bomb in her lap... calling off the wedding by being in love with someone else. But because these two were and are still best friends... Melody promises to keep the reasons private and let the chips fall where they may....
This leaves our Melody adjusting to being single... and tired of being the "good girl"... and as she feels the heat in the gazes from the new Fire Chief... she questions whether it is time to drop the proper-prim-caring-what-everyone-thinks attitude and go for what she wants...
This whole scenario could have gotten cheesy really quick....instead Ms. Beck balanced it on a tightrope of innuendo, double meanings and flat out hot steam. Josh had a habit which I love.... talking into the ear and whispering all sorts of delicious things... and so did our character, Melody. He was strong, determined and delivered. She did not shy away from him either. The scenes of them almost together and then finally happening was just the right amount of intensity.
There is more to this story, though. It is not just romps...although there is much of it... there is conflict, decisions to be made and opening of the mind as well as the heart.
Samantha Beck has a sweet little series happening. If you see she is coming out with another addition of the Private Pleasure Series...I highly advise you to indulge...

3 predictability is killing my vibe stars
There's a fire inside me, and I can't put it out on my own.

Josh is the new Fire Chief in town, driven by his need to succeed he moved to this small town looking for fame and glory only to be brought short with small kind pranks and small town politics. A set of fires leads him to believe that they have an arson in their little town and damned if he is going to let them get a way. The only thing good in this little town is the prim and proper Miss Bluelick, every time he gets near her all he can think of are the ways to make her dirty."I'm not going to be gentle, because we both know you don't want gentle. I'm going to torment you until you're stiff and aching -- until even the whisper of my breath on your skin makes you moan."
Keeping it casual is what they should do, after all they don't fit into each others plans in the long run. Staying away is harder now that they had a taste of one another. Sometimes fate has a way of throwing your plans off course and making a new, do you fight it or embrace it, only time will tell...
Light Her Fire was another okay read for me, it was good, sexy and cute, but I anted something more... I was able to predict where the story was going which kind of took away from the experience and while I enjoyed their interactions, there was something missing. He had some one liners that made my stomach clench and send some excitement, but the feeling quickly went away, I needed him to be a bit more. Melody was cute and strong, innocent but went after what she wanted, but in the end there was no lasting impression just another character for me. This is another one of those, it me not you kind of reviews...hope you give it a chance, you never know you might enjoy it more!

5 - "Titwank" & "A-play" Stars!
After reading the first book in the Private Pleasures series and really enjoying it, I settled in with Light Her Fire expecting much of the same. Samanthe Beck has a really great voice when it comes to the male POV, and the humor and lightheartedness of the situations that her characters find themselves in make for a really enjoyable read.
”You ready to make your move Chief, or are you just going to stare all night?”
And that was pretty much it; this book pulled me in hook, line, and sinker. I loved the whole thing, but I think what makes it such an epically great read is the high caliber of the writing that Sam has put into the characters and the storyline in this book.
"I'm off shift in five minutes. unlock your front door, take off your clothes and pick a surface."
The tropes used aren’t particularly new or unusual, but you just fall in love with the town of Bluelick, Kentucky and its inhabitants as a whole. Josh and Melody featured as a short, sharp and surprising burst in book one, Private Practice and the first part of Light Her Fire actually runs along side by side with its predecessor, this book kept me up well past my bedtime, and put me through a whole wealth of emotions as I read it.
I pulled quote upon quote from this book as I read it. Josh has to be up there with the most imaginative and explicit dirty talkers I have come across recently, and not only does he talk a good game, but hell yeah! He backs it up with some pretty hot action as well. This sexy as hell Fire Chief had this reader quivering like a leaf for almost the whole book.
”I’m not some polite country boy. If you put me in your mouth, I’m going to fuck your mouth. We clear on that?”
Melody is the kind of character that you just can’t help but want to be friends with, she was down-to-earth, likeable and took the drama from her life and made herself a better person for it. Although a ‘small-town’ girl through and through, she isn’t shy to stand up for what she believes in and go after what she wants.

I cannot recommend Light Her Fire highly enough, Samanthe Beck has shot right up the ratings for me with this one, and I hope we don’t have to wait too long for Ginny and a certain elusive, Wolverine to get their story.

What I Liked:
I'm on a roll with these backlist reads! I think I'm in some sort of ARC reading slump, and so I've been rereading my favorite books and also knocking out some unread backlist novels that I purchased years ago. Including a slew of Entangled Brazen novels. I love Samanthe Beck's books, and I knew I would enjoy this one. The first book, Private Practice, is one of my all-time favorite Brazen novels.
This novel focuses on Melody, who we meet in book one as a secondary character, and Josh Bradly, the new fire chief of Bluelick. Melody is newly un-engaged thanks to her fiance coming out as gay, and she has her sights set on Josh. Their connection is instant and chemistry is raging hot, but that's not the only fire in town. Someone is starting fires and it isn't random.
Samanthe Beck's books are always super hot, with great buildup of tension and very sexually compatible characters. Beck proves that it is entirely possible to have an alpha male without him being an alphahole. Fire chief Josh Bradley is a young, tasty alpha male with a commanding air about him, and he is used to giving orders and being obeyed. Melody, on the other hand, is used to being with a kind man who recently came out as gay. She is ready for someone to light her fire (hehe), and take control. See? It works.
Josh is one of my favorite romance heroes. He is alpha and commanding, but neither of those traits are bad traits. He is a natural leader and he's very good at it. He's also very dedicated to his job and excellent at what he does. Have I mentioned how much I love a guy in uniform? Doesn't have to be military. Fire chief works. Josh is a pretty selfless guy, and I have a lot of respect for him. He's commanding in the fire station, commanding in the bedroom, and he's a stand-up, good guy.
Melody is the town's sweetheart, and she deserves the title. She's also a good person, a wholesome small-town girl, and she's a good match for Josh. I liked her steadfastness.
I already talked about how hot this book is, but the romance of the book is also sweet. These two are very good for each other and I could clearly see them falling for each other. Their relationship is somewhat drama-free, even with the gay ex-fiance being a thing. Once Josh found out about that, it wasn't an issue. There is another trope that was introduced late in this book that I usually hate, but I actually liked it in this book.
The ending was very sweet! I liked the compromise, and realizations. It felt like a very fitting ending for Josh and Melody. I need to read book three to see if Josh and Melody show up in that one!
What I Did Not Like:
I mentioned that there is a particular trope that shows up late in the book that I don't usually like. It's not too bad in this book, but just know that it does create a little bit of drama, but not too much. It isn't so bad. But the trope isn't for everyone (it usually is something I hate).
Would I Recommend It:
If you like steamy adult contemporary romance novels, try this book, or any of Beck's books. Her Compromise Me series is really good, and this series (I loooove book one of this series so much). Beck writes very very hot romance - you are warned!

Light Her Fire certanly lit my fire Chief Josh Bradley OMG how bossy and sexy is he, I'm in love / lust.
Melody has just come out of a ten year relationship with a failed engagement and hardly any sexual experience and she is tired of being the town's good girl so one night at the market she makes her move on the sexy fire chief.
Josh Bradley came to Bluelick to be the Chief of the Fire Department a step up on his career ladder only a stop gap before he goes back to the big city as life in Bluelick is boring the only thing the town has he is interested in is good girl Melody.
One night of casual sex turns into one month of scorching hot sex, sex on any surface and anywhere. Josh is showing Melody what real passion and pleasure feels like and Melody is no longer such a good girl. Feelings soon develope and a offer of a promotion elsewhere for Josh and a secret Melody needs to share might tear the apart.
Throw in the towns arsonist for excitement, Roger and the gang for laughs and you have everything you need for a great read. -
I wanted something sweet, fun, fluffy, and sexy, and that's exactly what this was. Not as good as book one, I don't think, but still a great romance and a nice palette cleanser between intense reads.

4.25 stars! I really enjoyed this 2nd book in the Private Pleasures series. Josh is the newly appointed Fire Dept Chief in Bluelick, Kentucky. He thinks the job is just a stepping stone to a Fire Chief position in a bigger city.
He meets Melody (great supporting character in book 1, Private Practices). They have sparks of sexual chemistry After some false starts, they starting see each other & have encounters & some are near public places- I kept expecting them to get caught with their pants down- literally!!
The first half of the book is them finding various locations to give Melody her sexual experience that she was lacking in her previous relationship. It took until about 70% point in the book for their personal relationship to be developed. Melody just came off a 10 year relationship, but was still quite naive. I liked the supporting characters- Ginny was in book 1. She is known as the town gossip. She's Melody's best friend & she returns in more likable way. She's Melody's voice of reason. Instead of Melody sounding things out in her head- internal dialogue- Ginny & Melody talk things over and Ginny's got some solid advice- IMO.
Roger, Melody's ex is back as her oldest best friend. He comes through for Melody a couple of times. The POV is 3rd person-alternating Melody/Josh. The ending seems a little rush-- when a crime in the town is solved at the end -it is summed up almost like Angela Lansbury does in Murder She Wrote. The epilogue is a little rushed too.
Better than no epilogue at all.
I will look for more Samanthe Beck books in the future. Great fun read. -
Wow! This was a hot one! Melody just got out of a 10 year relationship and the whole town is saying that her fiance dumped her because she was too boring in bed. She has the reputation of being a good girl. Josh moved to the small town of Bluelick from Cincinnati to be the fire chief. He's sexy and has a dirty mouth. The sexual chemistry between these two was off-the-charts HOT! The steamy scenes in this book were smoking hot! My only complaint would be that I really didn't feel a real connection between these two characters until about 60% into the book. They obviously had great sexual chemistry but I would've liked a little more build up to their relationship and maybe a little more character development. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the other books in this series.

Melody Ann Merritt was a fully fledged Bluelick, Kentucky inhabitant. She adored the town, having grown up there, having ticked all the memory boxes and still had the Pom poms to prove it.
She had recently established her independence following a failed ten year engagement to Roger. Being a close knit community, the reason for their break up suggested his proclivities didn't align with hers, especially in the bedroom.
Josh Bradley found himself accepting the fire chief job in Bluelick, Kentucky following a move from Cincinnati fire dept. He didn't envisage staying here, this was just a stop gap towards something bigger.
As soon as Melody caught sight of the new fire chief, she was determined to cast off her good girl shackles and see if Josh's searing glances promised assistance with that.
I really enjoyed this steamy offering. The chat, humorous innuendo and subsequent chemistry between these two was delightful. Josh had just the right amount of foul mouth and rough edge to create tingles, and the supporting characters did just that, exceedingly well.
Excellent job, Samanthe. I haven't yet read número uno in this series, but I will definitely move it up my tbr now! -

I was on fire through the whole book!
Such an irony, because the cause of fire was not paper and match but a HOT FIRE CHIEF named Josh Bradley!

I'm afraid this review will be nothing else but gushing and aww-ing on my part. This book was everything I needed and so much more. The chemistry between Melody and Josh was so hot it burned through the pages and lit me up as well. I enjoyed every moment and wish this book was longer.
If you lovefirefightersromance books and are not scared of scorching sexyness that makes you blush I strongly recommend to give this book and author a try! I've read every book by the author and enjoyed all of them.
Why "only" 4 stars?Pfff, who knows?!The truth is, it felt like a 4 star book for me when I finished. I can explain... I think. I felt like the conclusion of the story was a little bit rushed. After such ahotstrong beginning I expected a little longer "happy ever after". But don't let this defer you from reading this book!

Light Her Fire by Samanthe Beck was SMOKING HOT!!!! What's not to love about this book that was burning with sexual chemistry with a sexy fireman that loves to get hot and dirty...and let me just say this fire chief is blazing hot!!
This book was one of those books that you don't want to put down. It was fun, sexy, steamy and passionate. Ms. Beck did an amazing job showing what an amazing person Melody is after her failed engagement. What I love about Melody's character is that she doesn't hold any grudges on her ex who happens to also be still her best friend. For years, she has been the good girl, so this time around she wants to someone to light her sexual fire and the only person fit for the job is none other than Josh, the Fire Chief.
What can I say but go read this book because Ms. Beck will have you lusting and swooning for Josh. This book was a sexy, fun and a sizzling read filled with humor, sexual tension, and lots of dirty talks. -

Is Wow an acceptable review? Because that’s my first reaction to this book.
The plot isn’t overly original: Josh and Melody are attracted to each other and decide to start a casual relationship. Josh is used to meaningless flings, and Melody is on the rebound after a long engagement that didn’t end as expected, so they never thought it would become much more.
The level of hotness was incredible. A lot of what Melody and Josh do isn’t usually seen outside of erotica. I loved what they had together even before they fell in love, because it showed two people discovering themselves and each other through intimacy. It was both cute and scorching hot. And once they develop feelings, it was just adorable to see how much they needed each other, and how they spent their time together. I loved that couple.
As Josh is chief of the fire department, there was some background local politics troubles and one more suspenseful plot point–that was too easily resolved, in my opinion. Clearly, what happens around Josh and Melody mostly served to advance or hinder their relationship, and didn’t have much meaning outside of the romance.
One element was more prominent: the life in a small town. It influenced both characters–as Josh needs a bit more action in his job, that he doesn’t find in Bluelick, hence he wants to go back to a big city, and Melody knows how her small universe works, and it affects her decisions. At some point, you feel like the whole town is the third character in the relationship.
I loved revisiting the author’s writing style. It’s witty and full of evocative images. If you don’t laugh–or at least smile–you’re broken. With hilarious situations and sassy conversations, I guarantee you won’t notice the time passing.

Couple of things you can count on with a Samanthe Beck book. Hot flashes and you get to learn new words. It's sexy AND educational!
Words like "fuck-lust" and "Titwank". Take my word for it ok? You'll be laughing and running for a cold drink while inserting your head in the freezer.

So,we met Melody and Josh (ahem) in Private Practice in quite an interesting way. Luckily, Ms. Beck fills us in on how that "situation" came to be and how things between Josh and Melody "evolve". Josh, holy cow, is one intense dude and Melody is...not and yet they really compliment each other so well. Melody (Miss Bluelick) is all that is goodness and light, sunshine, rainbows and unicorns and Josh has no intention of partaking of any of that. To her credit, Melody decides that she needs to take the bull by the horns and wave the red (pink in this case) flag at the bull."You know it did. You wearing pink around me amounts to waving a red flag in front of a bull. I see it, and I automatically think of every soft pink part of you. Every peak and crevice. I think about touching, tasting...sinking into those soft pink parts until you shudder and scream. When you wear that color around me, you're saying, 'I want you to fuck me.' Understand?"
See what I mean? But let me say that while Ms. Beck is supremely talented at the sexy times, she is so good at layering other subplots in the book. There is still an arson problem going on in Bluelick that the Mayor wants to deny, Melody's hilarious bff (Ginny) is around more and we are clued into what may be in her future.
Josh, has a number of things to think about. He only sees the Bluelick job as a stepping stone and does not see himself getting all that involved or attached to the community. Little does he know that while he may not feel connected to the community, they are feeling that connection to him and truly need his experience and expertise in their small town.

McCade brothers. I think that Ms. Beck's writing style just really works for me, I love the way she combines passion, humor and flat out entertaining storytelling.

Second book in the Private Pleasures series follows Melody and Josh, who had a brief encounter interrupted in Private Practice. Melody’s just gotten out of a long engagement and Josh isn’t looking to stay in Bluelick. You know what they say about the best laid plans?
The Good, Very Little Bad and Everything In Between
Honestly, I wasn’t sure and I hesitated a little to pick this up because there are so many books on my TBR list and while I really enjoyed the first book, I wasn’t in a hurry to re-visit, just thought I’d eventually get around to it. However, I saw it was available for 99 pennies and said what the heck, I’m between ARCs at the moment.
I am so happy I read this.
-Very enjoyable story: it’s well written, well paced, funny, sexy, basically all my fave things bundled in a sweet little read. it weaves in seamlessly with the earlier book, and I do recommend reading that first, but I think you could read this and still follow along. Having said that, I loved that I saw how it integrated with Private Practice, as events overlap, and I really liked seeing familiar characters.
-Strong, likeable heroine: Melody’s been through the wringer with her ex-fiance. Roger was introduced in the first book, and
-Dirty, sexy talking hero: yep, I’m a sucker for those, and Josh has no problems expressing himself verbally. I was very appreciative of that.
For example,“Are you thinking you’ll surprise me, Melody? You won’t. I don’t surprise easily. Keep smiling at me like that, though, and I’m liable to commit at least three sins with your mouth alone. You’ll have to make a special trip to church once I’m done with you.”
He believes in making sure Mel knows how he feels about pink:“You wearing pink around me amounts to waving a red flag in front of a bull. I see it, and I automatically think about every soft pink part of you. Every peak and crevice. I think about touching, tasting...sinking into those soft pink parts until you shudder and scream. When you wear that color around me, you’re saying, ‘I want you to fuck me.’ Understand?”
I mean, seriously - he can make her come so hard she cries. Those are the best orgasms….“You’ll sit there in your dress and pearls, smiling your Miss Bluelick smile while I stare at you and think up new ways to move you to tears. Most likely someone you know will stop by to say hello–a friend, a neighbor, an old Sunday school teacher. You’ll have to make small talk, and try very hard not to blush and squirm, even though you know I’m imagining your dress on the floor and your panties around your ankles, because the only thing I’m hungry for is between your legs.”
-Build for future story: I liked that there’s a path that’s leading to Ginny, Melody’s good friend and her romance with the mysterious hottie. I definitely won’t hesitate to get that book.
-The Big Obstacle: turned out to not be a big one, but more of an argument that was straightened out once both Melody and Josh calmed down and took stock of what’s really important.
The Bottom Line (4.5 stars easily)
I loved it. I’d read it again. I recommend it for anyone who really wants a hot sexy read. Plus, a good deal - 99 pennies for super hot sexy times and a good story? It’s a steal. -
Josh is 5-alarm hot and Melody was just perfect for him.
You know I'm going to fuck you. But I'm also going to warn you, I'm not some polite country boy. If you put me in your mouth, I'm going to fuck your mouth. We clear on that?
Both were first looking at a casual relationship. Josh didn't want to lay roots in a small town like Bluelick while Melody just came out of a 10-year engagement. What happens when they start feeling like they want more?
I was a bit blindsided when Josh decided to take a big step.
Overall, if you are looking for a quick, hot read, not too much angst and interesting characters. This one's a good bet. -

This is my first time reading anything by Samanthe Beck, and I know it won’t be my last. This story has everything you need for a steamy read. A sexy fireman, the good girl with a hidden wild side, and just enough town drama to keep the readers guessing. The story was just full of fantastic characters and our hero and heroine were steamy HOT! Add a little suspense with the arson twist and you have yourself a page turner you WILL finish in just an afternoon! -

Quick & Dirty: Sexy and steamy novel with two very adventurous adults. Light Her Fire is a little predictable but the story itself is heartwarming and playful.
Opening Sentence: You’ve hit a new low when the chance to eye-fuck Melody Merritt in Boone’s Market is what passes for excitement in your life.
The Review:
Light Her Fire is a fun, sexy novel about Melody Merrritt and Josh Bradley. It is the second novel in the Private Pleasures series. Melody is a small town girl and she loves her little town of Bluelick. She also really likes the new fire chief in town. Josh is an ambitious firefighter and he really wants to work his way up the ladder *pun intended* by accepting the job as fire chief, hoping that it will lead to a job as fire chief in a bigger city.
Melody has just come off a ten-year engagement and of course is looking for a fun fling, not anything serious. She sees that Josh has eyes for her and so she decides to do something about it. Plus, it helps that he is great on the eyes too. Josh is impressed the blue eyed beauty just walks up to him boldly and asks him out but he is a little worried she is too good for his bad boy ways. He doesn’t have to worry much, Melody is tired of being the good girl so their initial fling happens really quick. A very funny interruption ensues and because of this Josh decides he wants to take Melody on a real date before they get to the fun stuff.
Melody and Josh have some really hot sex and foreplay. A lot of it happens in public. The sex on her front porch could only happen in a small town but since she lives in a neighborhood I don’t see how no one was at least looking out a window even if they weren’t driving by. They definitely seem to like the high of possibly getting caught.
Josh is a bad boy and he really likes his sex. He never hides his past from Melody but since he isn’t from her town, she doesn’t have previous knowledge of it. Josh definitely has an arrogance to his character but it is tied into his ambitions. He knows what he wants and he gets it. Even with his arrogance I really liked Josh, he didn’t lie about himself or what he wants from Melody.
Melody has always planned for her future with her high school sweetheart but when that didn’t pan out, she decides that she must do something for herself now. Her last ten years were wasted so a fling with Josh will help her do some of the things that she has missed out on. She is a fun girl and entirely devoted to her friends and family. I really enjoyed her bold and sexy way of asking out Josh.
One thing that is brought up a couple times by Melody’s friend is that in a relationship she must compromise but Melody never once gives in. That was a little frustrating but I understand that she did ten years of compromising with her previous relationship but she couldn’t even budge with Josh just a little bit.
The actual plot of the story was a little predictable and not entirely surprising. I don’t want to spoil anything but its not hard to figure out what will eventually happen because of one sexual encounter and the fact that Josh is a firefighter. Once again the sex was incredibly hot, but it kind of fizzles out for the last quarter of the book. I guess there were too many life altering choices happening for the characters to even think about sex.
I haven’t had the privilege of reading Private Practice yet, which is the first book in this series, but with the hilarious glimpses of the main characters during this book really have me wanting to pick up this book too.
Overall, it was a steamy, quick read. I really enjoyed this world and the interactions of the townsfolk in this tiny town. I will return to this series, especially if the next book is about Melody’s friend and “Wolverine”.

The sight greeting him on the other side of the open doorframe left him worse for wear in a whole different way. Melody stood there, blond hair tumbling down her shoulders in smooth waves. Her blue eyes danced with pleasure and something else he could only define as excitement. She’d wrapped her traffic-stopping body in one of those little sundresses that looked about as substantial as a butterfly’s wing and made a man thank God for eighty-degree heat and 90 percent humidity. The dress wasn’t particularly tight or short—the women he’d dated in Cincinnati routinely wore outfits consisting of half the fabric—but on her it was straight-up sexy. The pale pink shade should have looked innocent, like ballet slippers or cotton candy. But it wasn’t. Not on her.
The color made him think of her skin. The soft, hidden expanses not kissed by the sun. His mind filled with memories of her round, full breasts, her smooth, flat stomach…the peach-like curve of her ass. Raspberry-red high-heeled sandals strapped to her feet only intensified the effect by highlighting her slender calves and reminding him of another pink destination at the other end of those amazing legs.

This is my first romance by Ms. Beck & I was HYPERVENTILATING with tears rolling down my face & that was just Chapter 1. Ms. Beck combined my 2 favorite elements in a romance, hilariousness & NEKKIDNESS GALORE! Melody was a GOOD GIRL, but she had neglected girlie parts that were SCREAMING to be put to use & she proudly wore her inner HO! Josh was such a nasty BAD BOY, but in a PLEASUREABLE way & he did need to be brought down to his knees by none other than Miss Sunshine! This 2 were from such different worlds, but they JUST clicked sexually & Melody melted his tough heart with her gooey goodness! Ms. Beck had such awesome 1 liners & saying that me ROFL, like a boner Class AA fire hydrant, tongue whipped (which I proudly stole), manwrap, turbo tattles, fireproofing your hand basket & my personal fav, a bystander's orgasm! Now the another character of this tale was Bluelick, Kentucky with it's southernNESS, small town charm & I loved how everyone wormed their way into Melody & Josh's relationship & were a big old Fairy Godtown to them, too! Now the NEKKID pleasure filled scenes where creative, naughty, playful & of course, PULL THE FIRE ALARM & THRONG SCORCHING! I am hooked to Ms. Beck's brand of funny bone tickling, the kooky, nosey & unique Bluelick folks sprinkling their southern PIXIE DUST, the FIRE EXTINGUISHER REQUIRED nekkidness, the city boy who needed some dazzling country beat into his heart, the Miss Goodie-two-shoes going wet, wild & completely NAUGHTY & wrapping it all up in a southern sparkly bow! Get those pillows at the ready, because Josh Bradley is a man of his word. We've had a while to wait for the second book in the Private Pleasures series but every second was worth it and Samanthe Beck has done exactly what she does best and brought us a couple to adore with a journey filled with fun, feeling and frolics. It was the perfect sexy read.
Good-girl Melody is newly single following the end of her ten-year relationship, and the town's new Fire Chief Josh has caught her eye; mainly because he looks at her like he wants to devour her. She wants some fun, he's the perfect candidate and with a sizzling chemistry filled with innuendo, the fire between them truly ignites.
I loved every minute. It held surprises I didn't see coming, I adored Josh and Melody and was completely absorbed in the romance and the emotion; I literally couldn't put it down. And as much as I swooned over the Chief, his dirty talk and his moves, it was the inclusion of one particular sexual act that stole this book for me. I have to applaud Samanthe as I had tears streaming down my face - if you are British you will instantly pick it up.
Whilst Light Her Fire could easily be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading Private Practice as Footlong Longfoot is another treat to be had. I actually loved how this book ran parallel to the first as opposed to following on. Samanthe Beck never disappoints, this is a winning series so far and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us when she brings us Ginny and Wolverine's story.

This one is erotica with a great story and great characters .The whole thing was believable ,they met ,they set fire to the pages ,there was believable development in their relationship and they had some real conflicts . I didn't roll my eyes even once and that's a rare thing for me !!
I was laughing smiling or grinning the whole time I was reading this book and might have needed a fan once or twice .I was really sorry that it was over , I just wanted it to keep going.
There were 2 scenes that could have used some finesse and both were towards the end. I guess I can say that the ending could have been better.
This was my second book was by Samanthe Beck and it won't be the last. -
Loved this book, loved Josh's playfulness, "he smacked her very tempting a**. "I'm no gentleman." Melody she isn't afraid to speak her thoughts, "this isn't fair. I'm spread out on this table like Sunday supper, and I can't see you at all." Josh learns quickly of what his woman needs, "okay. Lesson learned. No effing with patience. The woman needed a decent meal. What he had planned for them tonight required energy and stamina." Josh is an honest boy and doesn't mind sharing his thoughts as well, "if I'd known you in high school seen you walking the halls on game days in that little sweater and skirt, I would have been obsessed with popping your cherry." I really did love this book.

Light Her Fire is the second book in Beck’s Private Pleasures series. I didn’t think the sequel could top my love for Private Practice, but never have I been so happy to be wrong. Beck brings back the heat hotter than ever, adds in an intriguing arsonist on the lam in Bluelick, and made me fall head over damp panties with one delicious Chief Josh Bradley, a man who doesn’t just put out the fires in the small town of Bluelick. . . he’s the culprit of many, especially the ones starring good girl Melody Merrick and her newly found naughty side.
One of my favorite things about Samanthe Beck is that I can tell she has a funny sense of humor. She has so far succeeded in showing that wicked sense of humor in each of her books. I enjoy my sexy romances with a nice sized dollop of laugh out loud moments, and I can always trust Beck to deliver.
Josh Bradley is the new fire Chief in Bluelick, but he doesn’t plan on sticking around for long. His dream is to head a fire department with a little more excitement than hooligans leaving flaming turds on a grouchy old man’s porch. Things get a little more exciting than he plans when he realizes the small time fires that keep cropping up around town are anything but accidents.
“You’re not on vacation, Bluelick, no sitting while I do all the work. I’m going to give you my tongue again. This time I expect you to use it. We’re going right to the edge, but not over. Understand?”
From his small, yet memorable part in Private Practice, I knew I would like Josh’s character, and not just because he was naked, okay not only because he was naked, but because I knew he would be a fun, kinky character, so I was excited to read his story. Chief Bradley definitely delivers in Light Her Fire. He’s a foul mouthed city boy who could give a lady an orgasm just by talking dirty to her. He’s not the romantic type, but the way he use his tongue appears to be romance enough for Melody. . . and for me too! If only he weren’t a fictional character. *sigh*
Okay, maybe she’d attempted to be more than friendly when they’d talked, but even ten years out of practice, she’d picked up on his interest. No. Scratch that. “Interest” was far too civilized a word. Stumbling into his tractor-beam gaze had been like getting sucked into a vortex of fuck-lust.
Not only was Bradley’s character fun, I enjoyed Melody’s as well. After her ten year relationship with her ex-fiancé goes down the toilet, she’s ready to shed her good girl image and go after what she wants. . . a casual good time with Bluelick’s newest fire chief. She finds a wicked good time, but is casual enough for her? Not if Chief Bradley’s sexy moves have anything to say about it.
It’s interesting to note that even though Melody was the head cheerleader in a small town, she was a nice one. She isn’t the cliché queen bitch that most characters turn out to be in these small town reads. I’m glad the author went a different way for Melody (and the whole small town, really), because I couldn’t see her as anybody but nice girl with a big heart, and dirty fun in the sack. It’s a nice take on an overused cliché, and I loved it! I’m a huge fan of small town romances, and Bluelick has made my list of favorites.
I had a fun time in this town. Once again, Bluelick and its people has made it’s way into my heart. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes out for more from Samanthe Beck. I recommend this series for all my contemporary romance friends - It will not disappoint!
