Sacchi Green is one of the most lauded and respected queer writers of today. And why? Because she breaks new ground with each and every book. Me and My Boi throbs with the currency of lesbian love and lust today, when the love dares speak it's name using new words, terms and letters.

Me and My Boi celebrates lesbian bois, butches, and screw-the-binary free spirits; cool bois, hot bois, swaggering bois, shy bois, leather bois, flannel bois, butch daddies, and the girls (and other bois) who wouldn't have them any other way. The stories range from Sinclair Sexsmith's raw "Five Blow Jobs" through Victoria Oldham's searing "Resurrection" and old-school lesbian bar tale "Hot Pants" by Jen Cross to the aching tenderness of "Her Gardener's Boy" by D. Orchid. Twenty authors, among them Sommer Marsden, Annabeth Leong, Tamsin Flowers and Kathleen Tudor, heat up settings all the way from a Regency drawing room to modern Paris to a Brooklyn bike shop. Whatever turns you on, or cuts deep, or sparks your wildest fantasies, if these writers don't push the buttons you already have, they'll hook you up with some new ones. Gender has no boundaries, and neither does lust.

Me and My Boi.... oh, yes indeed, it was ;)

I don't generally go for anthologies because I always run the risk of reading something I don't enjoy. However, I knew I was safe with this book just from the title alone. I love erotica. I love slow love making just as much as I love hard and rough. And what really sends me over the edge is reading about two butches or one butch, one boi, taking what they need from each other without restraint. There were a few butch/femme stories that were just as pleasant as the more rough-around-the-edges stories. Every scene had a power dynamic between the two protagonists, a top and a bottom. The alpha and the submissive, and I thrive with those types of dynamics, especially when a butch is topping another butch. I don't really care for top femmes, but when she's controlling and pleasuring a bottom butch, Oh My Word, that in itself is so arousing to see a butch come undone.

I highly recommend to anyone who appreciates masculine lesbians in all their beauty from their chinos, boots, chained wallets, spiked hair, bound chests, "cocks" but ultimately their tender hearts.

This anthology is hot and definitely worth the read. I bought this because god knows, there aren’t enough butch/boi/transmasculine couples written about in smut and I’d heard that this anthology contained a few. Butch/femme and femme/femme smut is awesome, but what tipples my nipple and floats my boat is butch/boi/transmasculine couples.

The stories with masculine couples were Sinclair Sexsmith’s Five Blow Jobs, Dena Hankin’s Teamwork, and Victoria Villasenor’s Resurrection. Of these three, Five Blow Jobs was the only one where the protagonists were hot for one another because they had similar gender presentations (they’re Daddy/boy), rather than despite it…and yes, it was tres hot. I love a good blow job description. Teamwork was about two long-time friends who unexpectedly hook up, and Resurrection was about a butch with a femme at home, but who has a penchant for seducing bois for sexual relief.

There were quite a few submissive bois, which was charming. I grew up in Iran, so was surprised by and attracted to Pavini Moray’s Nisrine, Inside for its sensuality, the lovely submissive boi Miki, and portrayal of a Persian dyke (!).

Please....give us more smut with butch/boi/transmasculine couples!

Thank whatever higher power exists that this collection is out there. I read about half of it in a giant gulp, then life and other distractions took me away from it, and I just finished the other half in a second giant gulp. There are quite a range of stories here, but each centering different takes on the butch/boi experience. Some were sweet, some were unapologetically sexual, some both. There's a definite sprinkling of kink throughout. This isn't even my precise flavor of queer, and I was still into it. It really has a lot to offer, even for straight readers - especially women. It seems like a perfect antidote to the limited presentations of what a woman is and whats, and what a man is and wants, that exists in most heterosexual erotica.

I usually makes notes as I go when I read a short story collection, but I think because I was reading so fast, I didn't do so for this one. Scanning back through, these were some of the highlights for me:

Only Pinup by Gigi Frost - a nice opener, almost an explainer of the butch appeal to a femme.
Bike Pedal. Empanadas. And Whiskey. by Aimee Herman - love the stream of consciousness writing style on this tale of a hookup.
The Measure of a Man by Victoria Janssen - a period piece with multiple partners.
Five Blow Jobs by Sinclair Sexsmith - does this author ever go wrong with their erotic writing? Not that I've read.
Not Just Hair by Annabeth Leong - a nice reversal in this one.
The Way by Jove Belle - super romantic, if you're into that.
Cricket by Anna Watson - an older woman finds her butch.
Nisrine, Inside by Pavini Moray - yay for diversity (Persian)! in a BDSM setting.
Her Gardener's Boy by D. Orchid - young discovery, service-oriented in a dreamlike summer setting.

I would love to see more collections - full novels even - with an even more diverse assortment of stories.

Sacchi Green is an excellent editor, and these stories are diverse and fantastic. (I do have a story in it, full disclosure. But it's great regardless!)
