Together with his mentor and best friend, Celaren Mirvaen, Éandir must heed not only the call of a god, but also confront the power that lies dormant within himself, desperately seeking to escape. And all the while there are rumours coming from the north. Whispers of a rebellion that seeks to achieve the impossible: to kill the gods and drive their believers into the sea.

I think this is literally one of my favourite covers of all time. Holy shit it’s stunning!!!
The book itself was a nice read nothing special but also not bad. I’d say 3.5 (I rounded up to 4). I really liked the representation (M/M relationship), the writing was good. The world seemed interesting too but since the book is too short it was a lot of exposition that didn’t mean much to me bc I believe there is no sequel which is unfortunate. I would’ve really liked to explore this world and get to know the characters better.
The magic system was weird though I still have no idea what was going on but again the length is to blame. What bothered me a bit was the ending. Although I’m glad it was a happy ending, the magic came out of nowhere and felt like a plot armour. Also the part about Dance felt a bit anticlimactic. After reading, I was like that was it?! why was he then scared of screwing up? lol
Overall, it was a sweet read and I hope the author continues to write in this world.
