Green-eyed Thieves Reviews

  • K.J. Charles

Fun story about a pair of twins in a crime family (cons, thievery, murder, terrorism links), with lots of unreliable narration and unreliable behaviour plus social satire. Terrific writing, though the plot is rather baggy not to say rambly.

    Brilliantly South African!

Enjoy a book which is what South African novels should be. Quirky, funny, poignant. Interesting stories about ordinary characters made extraordinary by the skill of the writer.

The poetic voice of the author seduces you from the opening page.

How does Firoze get into that jail cell? Go on a journey from South Africa to the Middle East to the USA. Enjoy the ride.

And Best of all - It's Just A Book! (no deep messages slapped in your face)
    5/5

I'm still mulling this one over. It is definitely worth reading.

If you are affiliated with a university, get it through ILL. If not, then consider ordering it through the publisher.

coovadia has a unique voice, kind of noirish, mostly funny, and very dysfunctional.

Not quite as good as the wedding by the same author but still appreciate the ability to capture a time and moment in Indian Johannesburg
