And the world was plunged into darkness
This became known as The Event
The world has been reduced to empty buildings, on empty streets, in empty cities.
The people who have survived either scavenge for supplies or hunt those who have them. This is the world that Alec must enter in order to find his sister and bring his shattered family back together.
The next step in one families epic journey to survive in a world, After The Event.
The Remnants (After the Event #2) Reviews

I enjoy these books so much, I like that there are lots of characters and things tend to chop and change. This series is keeping my interest.

The Remnants is the sequel to After The Event and takes place immediately following that novel. There is the introduction of several new characters as well as following all of the original characters as they splinter off.
Again, the world is a horrible place and it is sort of hard to remember that this is almost two years after society collapsed. It feels like it’s been a few days. This book definitely delves deeper into the characters and gives you things from their perspective. It also shows how easy it is to get lost/separated from each other and how people will bully others.
It follows that same, everything is horrible vibe, of most prepper/survivalist fiction with the big gangs taking over and stealing everything from others. This story makes no bones that everyone is a victim.
All that said, I hated the ending, and it sort of puts me off for the next book. I can see why the author decided to go that route.
If you liked After The Event, you will enjoy the sequel. It is much longer and more satisfying of a read. There are almost no typos/formatting issues in this book. I can only think of one. This book is definitely there in terms of quality and could easily compare to several of the published end of the world novels I’ve read. -
So addicted to these characters!
Ally and Ness are safe with the army and friends. Alec is semi safe with friends and tries to talk the people of the town who are preyed upon regularly by raiders to join him and Trevor to go back to his home with him.
People die. People help others. They are all challenged by the bad raiders and now a new force threatens.
I love these characters and am beginning Innocence Lost.
The author needs an editor. There are simple mistakes but enough to sometimes distract from the story. Discontinued use of "the" for "than" and "wondering" for " wandering" is irritating. And there are others. Seriously, these are mistakes a writer should not be making. So please get an editor.
This won't stop me from enjoying these stores so onward I go. the ending of this one is a cliff hanger. -
lots of ACTION
The remaining Irving family is separated and they are all trying to find one another. Unfortunately now the Army/Government has often involved themselves into the plight of the survivors and also some new characters! Now I am wondering...why did the electricity go out? Why does the "shelters" have electricity..and what about this strange group of soldiers?? Hmmm we were left off with everyone being separated Ben ran from Jack, and Ayla with Jess..but Alec got caught up with someone's people and it seems as if they are all getting farther away from each other and closer at the same time...ONTO BOOK 3 ... The story is now getting down to the nitty gritty..who will survive and will the Irving's be reunited? Is there a war between certain groups of military?? What js going on??? -
Could be better
It is a decent plot and good action sequences. But there is a boring aspect to it, also. I will continue onto the next book in spite of it. I still don't know if I would recommend the book, or series, to another. I do appreciate the realism. There's something missing, though. I want to become invested in th he characters and the story, but don't feel that connection yet. -
Book 2 was better than book one. I enjoyed it all except for the ending. It was a ending without a ending. It had too few pages and stopped with what felt like the middle of a sentence. I understand leaving the reader wanting more but in my opinion each book should be able to stand alone.

A fantastic second book in the After the Event series. Once again, T.A. Williams tells a story of everyday people just trying to survive in a world that has fallen apart around them. I found myself being drawn into this one just as much as the first book. Can't wait to read the next one!

I liked the second book better than the first. Cant wait for the third.

Tragic
A very tragic tail of a family broken by cruel people and tragic events that have taken place on American soil. -
I was hooked the second I started reading.
