Alpha's Last Fight (Scraptown Shifters, #1) Reviews
-
I actually wanted to write this review for my co-author, Molly Prince. So pretend that this review is all about her chapters and not my chapters, that way it's not bragging. Right? Right. ;)
Hutch is a weird character - he starts out as a young dumb alpha male with more testosterone than common sense. I loved how his character progressed throughout the book from being totally self-involved to caring for his mate and pack. I don't normally write books with these kind of heroes in them, so it was interesting to write a female character reacting to his shenanigans... I don't know if I'd ever date Chapter 2 Hutch, but I might just fall for Chapter 20 Hutch.
All in all, it was a great experience to co-author a book, and I wanted to thank Molly for making things go so smoothly and for pushing me to write a FREAKING CHAPTER every day to git er dun! I think that I became a better writer while writing this book. So five stars for you, love <3 -
The Real Nitty Gritty!
This story was quite different to all the other shifter books I have read... These Shifters are not filthy rich and they don't drive a fancy SUV...Finally a story that shows a different side of the coin. They live in trailers in the slum and have to deal with the bigotry of small towns. There is a lot of action in the ring, but they do it as a way to eat, to survive and yet there is a deep spirituality, it lets one see what it would really be like if these creatures existed.. The bond that really does exist between man and animal.
A deep seated desire to not be the animal she thinks herself to be, Hutch teaches Natalie to finally accept her inner wolf it's such an intense merging of the two. And Hutch, finally gets the woman he has needed to show him that he is worth so much more than he thinks he is, not just a romp in bed with one of the groupies that vie for the champion Alpha's bed on fight night. She teaches him love and tenderness.
The passion is intense as intense as it should be for a shifter. Raw animal lust that turns to something deep and spiritual.
I really enjoyed this rough side of the coin Aubrey and Molly, Congrats! -
My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!!
The cover is yummy!! Hutch is looking sexy!!
I received this book from the author for an honest review, but as soon as it was out I bought it :)
I really liked this book and enjoyed it. I do want to warn that some people may not like all the fighting sort of like a combination of dog fighting and gladiators. The language could also be more than some readers are looking for. Lots and lots of steamy scenes too!! I like to put this out there because reading is your enjoyment. This world is different than other shifter books, but it is hard to describe without giving too much away. Shifters struggle to maintain balance is all I will say.
Hutch is a typical bad boy. He’s an a$$ a lot mixed in with moments of sweetness. Natalie is sweet, terrified of what she is because she’s never been around anyone like her, but she grows so much in this book. Gina is awesome and funny. There are some things that happen that I just didn’t see coming.
I recommend this to people who love werewolf shifters and fighting and don’t mind that Hutch can be an a$$, but a sexy one :) -
This story had a different feel from all the fated mates concept that goes on usually in books. He chose her to be his mate and it wasn't because of a smell, genetic encoding, irresistible pull, or their blood sang to one another. It was almost normal. Hutch is a jerk, from the first moment we meet him he's an asshole (oh btw, those with triggers for cheating ) and it was entertaining to watch him figure out having a relationship and grow up. Then there's Natalie learning to accept her wolf with Hutch's help. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.

This is a wolf shifter read that had the potential to be an excellent story I just felt it missed the mark a bit.
The heroine is doing her best to suppress her wolf because of an unfortunate accident she had years ago. She falls for Hutch who wants her to embrace it. The author does a good job of character development with the heroine but not with Hutch, he is an ass, it was hard to like him and want her to be happy with him.
The sex was a little lackluster but overall it is a decent quick shifter read with a bit of action and drama mixed in. -
I absolutely loved this book. It is my favorite written by Aubrey yet! I was given this as an ARC for an honest review. So here it goes.
Natalie is a shifter in denial after a tragedy that left her with emotional scars so deep she ran. Hutch is the opposite. He's a very cocky, alpha male with physical scars from the fighting he craves. After 5 long years away Nat has to come home to help her father. When the tragedy she ran from reappears in her life. After an almost collision on the stairs, a chance meeting between Hutch & Nat starts a roller coaster ride neither can stop. In order to enjoy the present, and secure a future scars have to reopened. Both have to face up to their pasts. Can they live to get beyond their pasts? I'm no spoiler so you'll just have to read. All character, whether primary or secondary, are endearing and captivating. Some you love to hate while others you hate to love. The chemistry between all the characters are palpable. An emotional read that will have you turning the pages. Bravo Aubrey Bravo! ***Hint Hint*** I want more :) -
The Premise
Hutch and Natalie, wolf shifters meet at a underground fight. Natalie’s afraid of her wolf, Hutch is ruled by his. Will they find common ground, as Hutch prepares for the biggest fight of his life?
The Good
-I got this through Kindle Unlimited
-A fresh take on shifters, not the typical with loads of property and wealth, these wolves live life like gypsies, in trailers and tents, free and wild, and like many people they struggle to make ends meet.
The Bad
I had a big problem with Hutch - he’s just...a big goober. There was a moment at the beginning of the story that turned me off and I tried to move on from it, but it tainted my enjoyment of him. I might have gotten past his indiscretion, but for the entire story, all I kept thinking was that he’s just an idiot, and I was surprised that he made it as an alpha. As a result, I just didn’t connect with him, or really why Natalie loved the big dumbass.
The Bottom Line
An interesting premise that doesn’t live up to its promise, just not my cup of tea. -
How do you control your inner wolf? You have to find the right Alpha to help you. Prom night, Nat and Tommy are in a hotel room. When Nat's inner monster is released, Tommy suffers. So five years later she comes back home to be with her dad when he has surgery and recovers. Tommy, with is cane, shows up and Nat feels guilty for what happened. He takes her to a place just outside of town that turns out to be a fight club and it is filled with wolves, people just like Nat, and her inner wolf wants to be set free on the sexy alpha she bumps into. But she doesn't want to hurt anyone. Hutch is the Alpha of his pack. He does that he wants and with who he wants until he meets Nat. Can he help her let he inner wolf come out and play? Will she survive Hutch's advances? This is a great story and I loved it. Look forward to reading anything from Aubrey Rose, love her writing style.
**Copy provided by the author for my honest review** -
Poor Nat she fights to control her inner wolf, and on her prom she almost hurts her date when he takes her upstairs to a room, she is unable to control it. She leaves after her graduation unable to deal with what happen, She comes back to town and is taken to a fight that involves shifters and meets Hutch. Hutch was a shifter who in his younger days was a little full of himself and takes over the pack who he is now responsible for, he negotiates with a guy to help his pack survive but gets in over his head. We find Hutch to be a little bit selfish, but he then meets Nat and that helps his attitude. I cried and laughed with this book, Aubrey does a excellent job with this story. I would highly recommend this read for those that want a romance shifter book with a little bit of suspense.

Alpha's Last Fight: A Paranormal Shapeshifter BBW Romance by Aubrey Rose and Molly Prince
** I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.**
This was an outstanding story! I found myself unable to stop reading until I had finished the book. The characters of Hutch and Natalie were very well developed. I liked how real Hutch came across with all his faults and big heart. I must say this may be my favorite book written by Aubrey Rose to date. This is first work by Molly Prince I have read but that will now change. -
Absolutely loved this book! I literally read this book in one seating, couldn't put it down until it done. Great storyline with a bit of romance and hot sexy scenes. The relationship between Hutch And Natalie is both sweet and steamy. I highly recommend this book to all my paranormal romance friends!!
-
I really wanted to like this book, and when it was all over, I just didn't. I didn't hate it, I thought there was really great ideas in the story that could have been expanded on, however the Alpha was an idiot. Not much character building for the female. A little here and there but really who is she ? what did her mother do that was so awful? It's never explained.
-
A great read! The characters are well thought out. You slip into the world Aubrey and Molly created with ease. I hope to see some more on Gina in the future though. You know a book is great when you want to beg the authors for more on the supporting characters lives.
-
Good one
Good one
I have read several book by this author and she always present a great storyline where the characters always interact and flows throughout the intense and clarification. I look forward too reading more of her novels. Keep up the good work!!!!!! -
I've read the Shifting Fates Series and really enjoyed them but I must say, I really, really loved Alpha's Last Fight even more! What an awesome book!
-
Loved it. A different take on shifters.Highly recommend it!!
-
DNF at 17%. Hutch is an ass from the very beginning, and to be honest, a big enough jerk that I just don't care.
-
Entertaining. Quick read. Good premise for a series.

For Natalie it was her Prom night. She went with Tommy, the only boy she had ever kissed. She knew he had a hotel room reserved for them and that she would have sex for her first time with him. As they leave the Prom a group of boys call her names and Tommy is upset. Natalie is used to the abuse. In their hotel room Tommy is livid and quickly downs 2 whiskeys. He encourages her to have a couple of drinks to relax and make her first time easier. It does relax her. 1/2 undressed she wants to say "no". But Tommy keeps kissing her. As she gets more scared she loses control and turns into a wolf. She mauls Tommy.
Hutch was fighting a pack's leader and wins. Suddenly he is not just a fighter he is a leader. He was really too young and immature for the job. He makes many bad financial decisions. To pay back the loans they charge people and other shifters to come and watch fights between shifters. Hutch frequently fights when he really is still too hurt. But he feels he has to. He's cocky, overconfident. He has sex frequently and with a variety of females. His signature move before a fight is to point to a female in the audience, his way of choosing his lover for the night.
Current time - 5 years later
Natalie returns home to see her dad. Her mom left them when she was very young. Her mom was the wolf. Mom's leaving left Natalie with no one to teach her the things she needed to know about being a shifter. Home and feeling stressed, she clears an area in her dad's garage and sets up her water coloring "studio". Art calms her and her wolf. Lost in her art she fails to realize at first that the garage door is opening. Tommy is standing in the driveway. He has a scar on his chin and is walking with a cane. He convinces her to go on a date with him. He takes her to the shifter fights where Hutch sees her and points to her before his fight. She and Tommy have a fight and he abandons her there. A couple of drunk guys try to offer her a ride home, making it clear they expect sex as payment. Hutch comes along, scares the guys away, and offers her a ride home. She makes it clear she won't be one of his one night stands. Hutch learns she doesn't shift. He is determined to get her to shift, explaining she will get more control if she lets her wolf out to run and hunt from time to time. Hutch wants to get to know Natalie better. She hates the fights and he has to continue them to pay back loans. Can Hutch learn to be the leader his pack really needs? Can Natalie learn to let her wolf out after all this time? Why does Tommy want her in his life? Will Hutch ever find a mate and finally quit his one night stands? Will Natalie stay in a town that gives her so much stress and bad memories? -
An alpha werewolf will have to risk everything to redeem himself in the eyes of his pack in this intense and thrilling paranormal romance. One last fight, with no rules, no limits and next to no chance at survival is Hutch’s last chance to make things right, but is he willing to risk the love of the only woman who has given him a reason to live?
This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of suspense, action, drama and romance. The authors bring the story to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and the well orchestrated drama and suspense draw the reader deeper into the story while the intense and thrilling action adds lots of excitement and keeps the adrenaline pumping. The characters are strong, compelling and grab the reader’s attention while the fascinating world inspires lots of curiosity and tantalizes readers with the dark side.
The attraction between Hutch and Natalie sets fire to the pages from the very first meeting and the frequent sex scenes are off the charts explosive but the relationship is full of bumps and bruises as well as passion. The reader’s can’t help but get caught up in all the drama that surrounds the couple as Hutch has a few things to learn and needs to learn how to tame that arrogance of his quite a bit, but at the same time he can teach Natalie how to accept and live with the monster she feels is inside her.
Heart pounding excitement flows throughout the story as passions flare out of control and violence takes a front seat in a world where fighting is front and center and the only way to survive. There was no way to put the book down once I started reading it, the authors created a refreshingly different werewolf romance that while had lots of moderate and intense violence, it was also full of vibrant and intense emotions and passion. -
I had some really mixed feelings about this story. I ended up loving it... but like the characters in the story, the journey to love wasn't a walk in the park!
Hutch is an alpha with more muscle than sense. He's arrogant, cocky and initially, his attitude turned me off of the story almost completely. I kept going, because I'm a huge fan of Aubrey Rose's shifters, and knew that it just had to get better. I was right; so don't give up readers.... you'll never forgive yourselves if you do!
Watching Hutch evolve over the course of this story is a work of art. Don't get me wrong; he's still arrogant, cocky and alpha, but in a way I learned to love.
With darker themes, and dangerous settings, it's Natalie's character that makes this story as outstanding as it is. To me, her tortured journey is exceptionally well written, and the combination of physical and emotional chemistry between Natalie and Hutch sizzles!
What started out as a story I didn't think I was going to like ended up being one of my favorite shifter stories by Aubrey Rose yet. The writing styles of Molly Prince and Aubrey Rose complement each other very well as they bring the characters of Alpha's Last Fight to life.
A copy was provided by author Aubrey Rose in exchange for an honest review. -
Poor Natalie has a hard life living with her secret wolf that she calls a monster and try to create a life she loves. I like how the authors worked an awful situation at her prom night from five years past into the story line. Then they built around what happened and how it shaped who Natalie becomes.
Hutch is not a lovable shifter. In fact he is what the author states in the blurb “an arrogant, asshole alpha male”. I seriously have an issue with men who only think of women as sexual objects and can’t even remember their name. And Hutch isn’t the only male with an issue in this book but this other male will be a surprise for the readers.
But there is hope for Natalie and Hutch as the story progresses and the authors use rich details to describe fight scenes and living styles of the pack that are so different than what Natalie is use to.
It is heartwarming to watch how Hutch changes throughout the story and finally how he goes for redemption with his pack and makes the ultimate sacrifice to honor his mate, Natalie.
So at the end I loved him and well you need to read this unique book to see what happened. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Hutch is a wolf who took the Alpha position to help his people. The wolves fight for money to survive. They have land that being paid off by the fights. At least that is what Hutch tells them.
Natalie is back in town to help her dad recover from surgery. She meets up with her ex-boyfriend Tommy who introduces her to the fights. It will be her down fall because after her and Tommy fight she gets an exciting ride from Hutch. Tommy has no chance with Natalie after that encounter.
Natalie and Hutch find themselves very smitten with each other and Hutch will not look at another female after meeting Nat.
The shifters learn of their fate with the land the inhabit and Hutch must put his life on the line to save the fate of his family.
Natalie is unhappy of the choice Hutch has made in order to fix the problem. But when Natalie tries to break free of the pack it is clear that Hutch will die as a result. Natalie must save Hutch and the pack by sticking by Hutch's decision even if she does not agree.
Will Natalie and Hutch have a happy ever after?
This was a good story with few errors. The story had ups, downs, action, sex, and drama. Very well rounded and keep my interest. -
Friends, followers, anyone who just happens to be reading this review...I'd like to say one thing...AWESOME! Like literally! I feel like I have just died in a story of yummy goodness! I LOVED THIS BOOK! It has todo be one of my new favorite shifter books ever!! Okay, maybe not the best. My heart will always be with the Mercy Thompson series. Now that's at my top, but this was a close second! I this what I loved most about it was the characters. They all had this sense of realism to them. They weren't overwhelming. And they just had great chemistry with each other. I liked the MC in this book. I loved how she was the "sweet good girl" of the story, but wasn't at all weak! I love characters like that! She had such a great personality and wasn't annoying (at least not to me)! I have to say, I also super dee duper, loved the relationship between Hutch and Nat. It was adorible and sweet with a bit of edge mixed it. They weren't perfect which also helped build their lovable ness! Basically, they earn a 5. No doubt about it and this book earns an Amazing. And yes, I'm aware that there is no real score called Amazing, but there should be! So read it...I dare you!! XD

This was just an okay, quick shifter read for me.
I felt somethings just moved way to quick - and then others just drug out. I didn't like that the Alpha (both to his pack and to the heroine) was so judgmental and such a liar to everyone. He kept going on and on about how he'd die for his pack - but then their whole problem is that his own pride about how he screwed the whole pack got in his way and he wouldn't be honest with them. That didn't make much sense.
The sex was just okay. The story line focused on the wrong parts of the story and not enough on others. It kept throwing you off of what was important.
The whole story was kinda shaky IMO. Wasn't very strong and solid. Side characters that were one way - then would have a complete change of character.
I guess I would recommend this book, because, as I try to always say, everyone should make up their own minds.
It does have a possessive Alpha that's a fighter (although it seems he loses a lot!). -
Natalie is a shewolf but she doesn't know anyone like except her mom. She hurt her boyfriend and she ran away. Now she his back to help her father. Tommy Calloway was the boyfriend she hurt. He shows up and asked to take her out. She agrees to go.
Hutch is the Alpha Wolf in town. When I first meet him I didn't care for him. Natalie meets him at a fight. Natalie freaks out and doesn't know how to react. Tommy gets pissed and leaves her to find her own way home. Hutch comes to the rescue.
Hutch tries to help Natalie understand her wolf. Hutch and Natalie get a long great until Tommy comes back.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I hope this maybe a series. I want them to find a real home. -

Any book that keeps up to 5 am reading is definitely worth 5 stars. Aubrey Rose is a fantastic author, this being just one example of her wonderful storytelling. I've never read anything by her co-author, but if this book is an example of her works, I'm sure she's fantastic, too. I started reading this book because I couldn't sleep and usually reading helps, unfortunately this time was an exception. Once I started, I couldn't stop and ended up being awake until 5. I think that's the best recommendation I can give. Any story that doesn't let me sleep is always a treat!
I received a copy of Alpha's Last Fight in exchange for an honest review.
