Trouble in Tinseltown is the perfect, girly summer read. As Ciara, Elle and Gem set off on their world trip, this book is filled with laughs, partying, drama, star-spotting and of course, the holiday hunk. And it’s a whole lot of fun. Aimee’s kicked off this short story series in great style and I can’t wait to read more from the girls.
Individually, we’re yet to learn much about these three friends but combined, they’re very entertaining. Ciara is very different to Elle and Gem – she’s not used to their expensive lifestyle and letting herself go like they do. She’s much more reserved and so they believe a holiday fling would do her a lot of good. I loved their friendship – the way they communicated was full of humour and they bring the kind of mad, fun-filled parties you’d want to be a part of. Though where you’d stay the night would be a whole different matter…
As for the holiday hunk, I’m intrigued. Or at least I’m intrigued after I’ve finished swooning. Elle’s cousin, Zack, livened things up just a little for Ciara and I’m interested to see how he’ll be involved when the girls hit Miami in the next short story. I trust in Aimee not to let us lose our fix of the gorgeous summer fling just yet!
Trouble in Tinseltown is exactly what I’m looking for in a quick summer read and this whole series is one I’m sure I’m going to love. This was a great start to the series with a whole lot of entertainment and leaving us with plenty more to learn about Ciara and her best friends. If you like your holiday reading to be fun, a little crazy and maybe laced with just a few z-list celebrities, you can’t go wrong with Aimee Duffy’s first Summer Flings instalment.

*Sneak Peak*
‘Can I help you?’ he asked.
Thank goodness he was fully dressed this time. She didn’t think she’d be able to force words out if he was still sweaty and half naked.
‘I don’t know what’s what up here.’ Keeping her mouth shut and staring at him like an eejit would have been better than what came out. Instead of Maths she should have studied English. Or taken a course in how not to behave around gorgeous men she couldn’t have.
He cocked an eyebrow. ‘What’s what?’
‘You know, which room’s taken? Elle said you have the master suite.’
Great, now her palms were as sticky as her face. So much for everything the girls had taught her about being a woman. She was sweating buckets and getting tongue tied over a man who looked at her like he thought she was about to clear out with all his cash.
Zack closed his eyes and shook his head. ‘That’s Elly all over. She shoots her mouth off without checking the facts. They’re all empty. I’m in my room down stairs. Take your pick.’
‘Okay, thanks.’ She turned before she said something that would paint her cheeks scarlet, caught her toe beneath the cement filled case and took a not-so-graceful nosedive into the floor, cursing like a trucker all the way.
Luckily she caught herself before she cracked her skull but she’d never live the shame of this one down. With her bikini covered bum – hopefully cellulite free – in the air and Zack now on his knees at her side, she’d be quite happy to have knocked herself a good one so she didn’t have to face him. -
When I saw Trouble In Tinseltown on Netgalley, it looked like the perfect little read for my lunch hour! I’m not the biggest short story reader, but I find they do in a pinch, and are a quick and easy read when you’re not able to get into something fuller, and Aimee Duffy’s new series seemed the ideal thing for my lunch hours.
Trouble In Tinseltown is the first of seven short stories, following best friends Ciara, Gem and Elle on an around the world adventure of which I am insanely jealous. I dream of flying around the world, visiting hot, fabulous destinations, and the first stop for the girls is LA! Who doesn’t want to visit LA?
The girls are definitely a handful, mind, and I liked that the main focus was Ciara, the more level headed of the three girls and I enjoyed her flirtation with Zack. It’ll be interesting to see where it goes (if it goes anywhere since they’re off to Miami next). I enjoyed Trouble In Tinseltown, it was a cute, short read. It wasn’t perfect, but for my lunch break it was ideal. I can’t wait to go to Miami with the girls (I love Florida!). -

'Trouble in Tinseltown' is the first novella in the Summer Flings series, and lately there's been quite a buzz about it on twitter. Also, seems most of my friends either read this series, or plan to read, so I was more than excited to check it out. Usually my twitter pals and I have the same taste in books, so I had a feeling I'm gonna enjoy these short stories just like they did.
When it comes to genre this series belongs to, I'd say it's somewhere between chick lit and new adult. I'm not the biggest fan of New Adult lately, but I did enjoy this shortie. Besides being a quick read, I liked the story. Three girlfriends go to LA and enjoy what that city offers, loads of adventures, drinking, partying and celebrities around them.
Ciara, Gem and Elle are sure fun girls. In a way, they reminded me of the girls from my all time fave chick flick 'Clueless'. Ciara is bit different than Ellie and Gem, she's more modest and doesn't have the same background. Elle is by far the richest, and her family owns mansions all over the world. The house they are staying in LA (pool and all things posh) is owned by her uncle, however what they didn't expect is to see Zack, Elle's dashy cousin.
There's a bit of romance, party crashing, drinking, celeb gossips and stuff like that. It's the typical girlie summer read, which I'm sure will appeal to many girls out there. There were some parts though I found bit annoying, mostly the fact the girls seemed a bit spoilt, and those NA elements I always seem to have problems with. I'm no prude, but think the sex scenes were too raw for me, if that makes any sense. But, if you need an escape from your grey reality, or are looking for a short read for your lunch break, this would perfectly fit your needs. As I said, despite some things which bothered me, they won't put me off from reading the rest in the series. -
This book took me less than half an hour to read and yet was so action packed and fun. Only a talented author could achieve that and despite this being my first read from Aimée Duffy it's clear that she has that talent. There is no shortage of chick lit authors yet Aimée definitely has her own distinctive writing style and I loved it. There's a few authors doing these short releases set in glamorous places around the world but if I'm honest this is the one I was most excited for (which explains my frustration at being declined then approved on Netgalley)! I love the covers and the blurbs and couldn't wait to get stuck in.
With short stories it's almost impossible to discuss the plot but basically Ciara and her two best friends Gem and Elle are travelling around the world - first stop LA. For someone not going on holiday this year these books are ideal. Aimée captured the setting perfectly and I was transported to LA for a short time. Arriving at their accommodation Elle is furious to see her cousin Zach is there as well. Ciara however is far from furious when she claps eyes on him... Off to a party at Nobu the girls soon find themselves in a pretty outrageous and hilarious situation.
With short stories certain aspects do have to be rushed but could chemistry be created between two characters in just a few pages? The answer to that is definitely. The flirting between Ciara and Zach is light hearted and believable at first and then the heat is knocked up a level... And then as with all the best short stories the book is over leaving you desperate for more. Luckily we don't have to wait too long to meet up with the girls again, this time in Miami and I can't wait. I will also have to check out more from Aimée Duffy, if she can write such a fantastic story in a short amount of pages I'd love to read a full book from her. -
As it is a short story, I'm going to keep my review also short, as I don't want to spoil the novel to those who's going to read it.
Trouble in Tinsel Town is the first part in the series of short stories about three friends travelling around the world. We get to know Ciara, Elle and Gem and how different they are, and that they are actually TROUBLE wherever they are. They're right now in LA, crashing parties, snogging celebrities, being arrested and having Fun with a big F.
The three girls are chalk and cheese and I am really curious how they are going to cope with each other on their journey. Ciara seems to be the calmest of the three, she's not so used to wealth and waving black credit cards as Elle and Gem, and right now I seem to like her most. She's rather closed and her two friends truly believe that some fun would do her good. And maybe some fling... And here Zack, Ella's cousin, enters the scene...
I am really very curious how the story is going to develop, what characters will be introduced to us, if those that we already know (Zack) are going to stay with us through the whole story. Right now I have some problems, I must admit, because everything is so sudden, I miss some background, the situations and characters are being dropped on us out of the blue, but yes, I understand, it is a SHORT story and it is the FIRST part, so I just must be patient.
I found it a light, funny, quick read. The dialogues were quick, sharp, witty and also naughty, the writing style is easy to follow and the pace of the story is really fast. I am totally intrigued in what kind of troubles the three girls are going to put themselves in, so roll on part 2!

Trouble in Tinseltown is the first short story in a series by Aimee Duffy and I have a feeling it's going to be a lot of fun! I love stories which feature groups of friends, and Trouble in Tinseltown introduces us to three young women, Ciara, Elle and Gem who have just finished university and are for a summer of fun before whatever lies ahead.
I found this a really quick, easy and fun read. Infact it took no more than half an hour from end to finish so would be great for a commute or when you have a little bit of time to yourself.
The three girls are vivacious and out for fun. Ciara appears from this part to be the main character and I really enjoyed her. She isn't as well to do as the other two and I found this heart warming about her. She is a bit more level headed. However it doesn't stop her finding a cute guy to while away a night with......
I can't tell you much more without giving the whole storyline away....but I would recommend adding this to your reading list. Aimee's style of writing is good fun, and she develops the characters well so you feel like you know a bit of what makes each of them tick. Infact I am ready to jump on a plane and continue their travels with them. I wonder if they have room for a fourth best friend called Jill???
Roll on part two.......

I'm going to keep this review short as Trouble in Tinsel Town is only a short story, so I don't want to ruin it for anyone.
So far I have loved every book this author has released with this imprint, and Trouble in Tinsel Town was no exception. It was a quick, fun read that has intrigued me at what the girls are going to get up to on their holidays. I'm not sure about the characters yet because I haven't met them for long enough but on first impressions, although Elle and Gem are a little shallow because of their rich-girl lifestyle, they seem like a fun group that is going to get in all sorts of trouble. I enjoyed the elements of humor and the and witty comments from Ciara, and I also liked that there was an element of a summer fling, which I'm hoping will be developed in the series but guessing it won't be. I would have loved it to be a little longer, but I'm looking forward to the next instalment! -
4.5 stars actually, only dropping a half star because I wanted to read more and I have to wait for the next instalment.
Great little read, the opening storyette in what promises to be a terrifically fun series about 3 naughty girls snatching a bit of time off from academia. The dynamic between the 3 friends is fresh and lively, the romp between Ciara and Zack is saucy. Hot saucy! Will these two reconnect? Bloody hope so, because I'm already fully engaged and desperate to see how the relationship unfolds. And what the around the trip world hold in store for Elle and Gem.
I believe there are five books in this series...good, because I'll be reading every one. -
This is a new short story series (Summer Flings)
Book 1 introduces the charachers Elle, Ciara and Gem as they decide to go to LA. Although this is a short book, the story line is packed with fun and drama.
Great short story and looking forward to reading the next in the series. -
3 Stars
This is the first book in the Summer Fling series by Aimee Duffy.
This book was barely 50 pages and I think it is hard to judge a book with so few pages.
Ciara and her friends are on vacation in LA and just want to have fun. They end up meeting Zack there, Ella’s cousin and Ciara falls for him. So hard that when they get into trouble and land in jail, he is their first call.
There just wasn’t enough here to judge adequately. Sometimes the motivations seemed all off. The romantic scene at the end felt forced and didn’t flow naturally from the previous scene. It just seemed to come out of nowhere.
Not my favorite story but it had a ton of possibilities. I wish it had been fleshed out more.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title. -

Trouble in Tinsel Town is the first delicious slice of fun and flirty mayhem for Ciara, Elle and Gem. The Oxford graduates leave their studies behind and set off on a backpacking tour of the world. LA is the first stop. Believe me if I could experience backpacking in the style these three do I would be first in line.
The setting is glitzy and glamorous, seen from Ciara's point of view. Elle and Gem are trust fund babes but Ciara is different and looking at celebrity lifestyle through her eyes grounds this story in a pleasing way.
The three friends are likeable characters. Elle and Gem appear shallow but I suspect their individual stories will make the women beneath the public face, complex and interesting. Ciara is intelligent and attractive but a little scared of living. Elle and Gem care about her and want her to have fun and that's what a trip of a lifetime should be right?
It couldn't be a summer fling without a hot man and Zack certainly fulfils the role. Serious and sexy Ciara finds him hard to resist but is this just a fling or something more, guess we'll have to see what happens in Miami.
Trouble in Tinsel Town is full of humorous, realistic, dialogue. I was ready to jump in their luggage after enjoying the pool and the party, eager to see what happens at the next destination of their adventure.
I received a copy of this book from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Aimee Duffy -
Fresh out of college and not yet wanting to start "real" life, 3 college friends take to the friendly skies in a globe trotting adventure that is less backpacking through woods and more socialite acceptable. Ciara Bree, Elle Muir, and Gem Howard decide to spend the first part of their trip in LA, having scored tickets to a movie premier. Elle's wealthy grandfather gave the 3 full run of the mansion he owns there and Ciara, Elle, and Gem are in full relaxation mode. The house, however, has an unexpected occupant: Elle's hottie cousin, Zack.
The last thing Ciara was looking for was a relationship which makes the attraction to Zack perplexing. Will Ciara and Zack look beyond the attraction and realize that nothing can come of it or will they give into the temptation?
What a fun summer read! Quick, entertaining, and spicy!
Elle and Gem are prime examples of people who live by the monetary code and not so much by the common sense code. Both are quite shallow actually. They get into trouble at an after party following the movie premier and call on Zack to bail them out. Ciara is more of an innocent bystander to the shenanigans of Elle and Gem but considered an accessory since she, well, knows and hangs out with them.
Ciara is the more grounded, mostly level-headed of the traveling trio, not having come from a largely wealthy family. She isn't comfortable accepting assistance from her friends and understands the value of her money and appreciates the hard work she's put into her bank account. She must not be completely without money, however, since this globetrotting trip isn't cheap.
This is actually a pretty cute short story but it does contain some material appropriate only for the 18+ crowd.

Firstly thank you to Harper Impulse for approving me for this title on NetGalley! It was recommended to me by book blogger Shaun (@bookaddictshaun on Twitter) after I posted my review of another similar read.
This is the first short stories in a romantic comedy series of shorts – Summer Flings by Aimee Duffy. The short stories follow main character Ciara Bree and her two friends as they take off travelling during their summer after graduating from Oxford.
We first meet the girls in LA where Ciara’s jaw has just dropped at the thought of staying for a few nights in one of Elle’s grandfather’s houses. The stunning LA location kicks off this summer series with a blast and give you a little insight into the luxury that Ciara should be expecting for the rest of her trip!
Ciara is on this trip of a lifetime with her two best friends from college Elle and Gem. Elle and Gem seem like high maintenance, spoiled little rich girls but actually they’re both very clever and down to earth, although not as quite as down to earth as Ciara. I like the balance that they bring to the group and think we are in for a really fun, bubbly summer tour with these girls.
Just when you think it’s going to be an all-girls holiday you’re treated to Elle’s lovely cousin Zack! Book boyfriend alert! I love Zack’s genuine concern for the girls and love his flirtatious manner with Ciara. I’m looking forward to seeing how that develops throughout the story.
The title suggests trouble for the girls and they do manage to get themselves into a few tight spots which are funny to read about and definitely set you up for the rest of the series!
The next in the series is Misbehaving in Miami! -
Trouble in Tinseltown is the first in the Summer Flings series by Aimee Duffy. This is the first I have read by her and I enjoy her writing style.
This is a very short novella at around 40 pages and made this a perfect read for me travelling. I enjoy novellas that allow me to immerse myself in and I fell like the story has been concluded during a short period. Lately I have become quite busy and it is hard for me to find the time to read a book cover to cover. Novellas I find allow me to do this.
This story is about three girls who are off to travel the world and enjoy life while they are young. Elle has a rich grandfather who has many properties around the world and has allowed Elle and her friends to stay. Ciara is the more down to earth girl and comes from a different background to Gem and Elle.
I would say being so short we really get thrown into the action of the story, which I loved. The downside of this though I felt I didn't know the characters that well, however as the story developed I felt I got a better 'feel' for who the girls are.
This little novella packs a lot in. We have relationships, friendships, brushes with the law,and drama.
As the novella is so short I don't want to say too much about it, other than this is one to have on you for that commute or on holiday. I cannot wait to read the next instalment and follow the girls around the world. (Wishing I was with them!)
I would like to thank Aimee for sending me this in exchange for an honest review. -

Review: When I first spotted this title in Netgalley, I couldn't resist the gorgeous cover and I loved the idea of a serialed novel for a girls trip around the world. On this first book of the series we meet the girls: the hard-worker Ciara, a total geek who had never had an interest for boys or make up until she met the other two girls in Oxford, Elle and Gem, both from rich families, intelligent and pretty, they love partying and having fun.
Their first stop is LA and these girls have taken the concept of backpacking to a new level: grandpa's mansion overlooking the city. Two days to enjoy the best of Hollywood: shopping, celebrities, movie premieres, parties... And Elle's gorgeous cousin for Ciara to enjoy. How much action can you fit in two days and a hundred pages? It turns out that a lot. Well written, flirty and naughty, with witty dialogues and a lot of fun, I really enjoyed Aimee's style and I'm sure this series is going to be a great summer read. I can't wait to read the second book, in Miami this time, and find out how the adventure is going with these girls and see if a certain cousin makes an appearance again. -
Oh I do love a short e-book story, and Amiee, definitely provided me with that. It was classic chick-lit in that a girl meets a boy, falls head over heels for him (in this case... quite literally!), lust and sexual hormones run riot, one thing leads to another... (or in this case, one romp leads to orgasm after orgasm!), and then what was thought to be a fling (one night stand), ends up being something else... or does it?!
The book begins with 3 friends heading off on a trip around the globe, they start in LA and after landing with their luggage from London, they head off into the pool for some Tequila Shot Volleyball. Ciara Bree finds herself a little hot even in the cool pool water when Elle's cousin walks in ... with his shirt off. Elle and her cousin end up fighting (or maybe it was Elle doing the fighting and her cousin just listening - Gem and Ciara couldn't quite tell!), and when things start to cool down, Ciara goes on the hunt for her bedroom. Instead she finds a hot hunk and let's just say that temperatures rise.... steadily.
A fabulously short read for someone who wants a hit of chick-lit like Ciara, Elle and Gem like tequila shots!
With follow ups available.... who can resist such a laugh out loud chick-lit? -
Ciara is a regular Irish girl who has been taken under the wings of two very bold, rich English girls. Ellen and Gem are full of mischief and they're great at getting into trouble. The three friends went to university together and they want to have a summer of fun after graduation. Their first stop is LA where they start their holiday in a luxurious home. Only they aren't there by themselves, Ellen's gorgeous cousin Zack is keeping an eye on them. Their first highlight of the summer is a real Hollywood red carpet event. Will Ellen and Gem be able to behave?
Ciara is the more serious of the three friends. Ellen and Gem are nerdy chic and she's only a nerd, a pretty one though. She's proud and down to earth. Her friends can buy anything they like and nothing has consequences. Ciara loves them, but she also wants to be herself and I liked that about her. Trouble in Tinseltown is fun. The red carpet event made me laugh really hard. This short novella is the perfect beach read. It's a feel good story that managed to cheer me up. It's the first one of a series of seven and I can't wait to read the next one. -
Oh there's such a feel-good factor about book one of the Summer Flings Series. It made me feel like I was jetting off on my summer holidays and having a damn good time.
Trouble in Tinseltown introduces graduate Ciara and her friends Elle and Gem. Having worked hard on their education, it's now time to play hard. Although Ciara isn't used to her friends extravagant lifestyles she soon gets into the swing of having fun when their first stop around the globe takes them to the glitz of LA. Elle is furious when her cousin Zack becomes an unexpected guest, though he soon has to come to the girls rescue when party time leads them into trouble.
I love the relationship between the three friends and with Zack bringing the spark to this fun story, I can't wait to to move my smile straight on to the next instalment. -
This was a fun, quick read that kicks off a series of books. After graduating from Oxford, three best friends — Ciara, Elle and Gem — have decided to take a two month around the world vacation. This "chapter" focuses on the more studious and grounded Ciara, who doesn't come from a wealthy family like Elle and Gem. The first stop on their getaway is Los Angeles, where they stay in the mansion of Elle's grandfather. Unexpectedly, Elle's older cousin Zach is also staying there, and he and Ciara ... well, you'll just have to read to find out. I immediately wanted to read the next book in the series when I was done with this one. Great writing, a fun story, and a hot romance make for a great read.
-
Three friends decide to travel round the world after finishing Uni and their first stop is LA. One of the girls has a relative with a beautiful house- but her cousin is also staying at the house. It causes a bit of friction- but Ciara finds him very attractive.
This was a nice, light fun read- ideal for the summer. A bit of glitz, glamour, attraction and a stunning location make for a book you can put in your beach bag and enjoy a few hours in the sun.
It's the first part of a series marking their travels and I'm keen to read more.
With many thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for a review copy -
3 Friends set off on a round the world trip, starting off in LA. The story is full of fun, I could have imagined going on holiday with these girls (many years ago).
Ciara, Elle and Gem are just great character. Each one with their own individual personalities. As this is only a short story I really don't want to go into the story for fear of giving to much away.
So what I will say is it is a great fun, easy read. Sit back and get stuck in. you will not regret it. -
Such a great start to the perfect summer series! This little story is great for an afternoon down on the beach. Aimee's style is glamorous and girly, and the story is fun and flirty. The adventures of Ciara, Elle and Gem begin in LA, and there is already plenty to keep you hooked. Can't wait to read the second book in the series and find out what the girls are going to get up to in Miami!
-
even though I don't usually like short stories, I find this to be funny, cute and fast paced in a good way.
this had a bit of drama and funny moments, along with a romance between Ciara and Zack. I defiantly wanted to read the next book too see what happens next ☺ -
A fun quick read. Not the best written book but I liked the main character and it was ideal for lazing about on a Sunday morning when you just can't decide which book to start next.
-
Loved it

Oh, I like the sound of this series, I do.
The Summer Flings series by Aimee Duffy kicks off with Ciara, Elle and Gem heading to Tinseltown and already they are filling their days with tans, romance and a little bit of naughty drama.
What is great about Trouble in Tinseltown is that Duffy is laying the groundwork for some serious adventures. Already in the first book there has been two arrests, gate-crashing, celebrity snogs and saucy romance.
Not bad for a 40 page book.
Next the girls are off to Miami and I for one cannot wait to see what hi-jinx awaits them there.
Trouble in Tinseltown (Summer Flings, #1) by Aimee Duffy is available now.

I needed something quick to read at work and this did just fine. I'm intrigued enough to read the next one since they're both free, but I don't know that I would spend my money on this series. We shall see.
-
Interesting enough, though one does wonder why the three girls are friends.
