Christopher and Thomas are both newly arrived freshmen at college. Christopher had always been more attracted to guys than girls, but he was always too afraid to act on his feelings. That was until he met the gorgeous Thomas. During rush week they feel an instant connection and the more experienced Thomas shows Christopher the pleasures of being gay for the first time.

However, when they are selected for different frat houses, they must make a tough decision: their relationship or their frats.

Frat Rush (Frat Gay For You #1) Reviews

  • Don Bradshaw

A light, fun piece of fluff.

Well, what complete and utter rot this is. I've read a couple others by Chad Lane, and while they didn't exactly impress me, this book took "abysmal crap" to a whole new level.

First, there are a ton of typos and grammatical issues, not to mention places where Lane just doesn't seem to understand Language. Secondly, the dialogue is fuck-awful. Just terribly stilted and formal with no contractions and declarations that make zero sense.

"I knew that I may not be fully ready for a relationship just yet, but one day I would make this guy my boyfriend, and I would date the shit out of him when that day rolled around."

Who "dates the shit" out of someone?

It was like listening to robots speak, and that ending? Come on. Stupid. Throw in some instalove, zero world building, and characters that seem just this side of mentally comatose, and....why bother?

Nice, lite, enjoyable fluff about a guy's first time and his first week of college. It was thoroughly enjoyable even if it was a bit too good to be true in spots.

I liked the characters and I liked a number of the story developments and details. I especially liked the bit about "nothing seemed quite as intimate as holding hands while you climax." It was a nice romantic detail that I'd not seen before.

That said... this author could use an editor. The typos were a bit annoying. Also, I've never been a part of the Greek system but some of the details of Rush week just seemed "wrong" somehow.

  • Coty

Interesting story with well developed characters. There are a lot of typos and a few sentences that are mixed up. I am not sure the other two parts are worth $2.99 each for 69 pages.

I liked everything about this book except the ending. I loves Christopher & Thomas, and even dorky little Phil. I loved the building attraction and secual tension between the two main characters. I loved Christopher's first intimate experience with another man. I was even looking forward to Thomas setting Jack straight (so to speak).

What I can understand is the beauty of a cliffhanger, leaving the reader chomping at the bit to read rhe next one. What I can't stand is a free book that doesn't tell a complete story, offers no closure, no resolution, no climax, and really no ending. It feels like an extended tease that could be found on a book jacket cover. Now the only way to read the next chapter in this book (because that's what it really is, to be fair) is to pay for an actual complete story. It's hard to be frustrated and ungrateful when gifted with a free read, but it's not really free, if you have to pay for an ending. I'm more upset about the time I wasted reading an extended prologue with a feeling of zero satisfaction at the end.

Only For You is a series I bought in it's entirety as a bundle. I'm willing to put aside my frustration and begin this series with a clean slate, even optimistically. Wth the good reviews of this series,I'm sure I'll be rid of this initial frustration. If I really like it, I may even pay for the next book in the Frat rush series, hopefully without too much petulance...

Could've been tolerable ... Had a single person bothered to edit the story.

I tried. I promise. But nearly at the end when I read: 'Slowly, he reached down and began to unbutton the front of my shirt, exposing the soft SINK underneath.'
    I was done.
The errors were so distracting. The writing was amateurish. It saddens me, since there was potential.

This is the second book by this author. The second disappointment. I guess I won't go for a third.

I loved the premise of the book. The story line was good, but the grammatical execution was horrible. The writing was much too formal. For example.. I am, instead of I'm, I have not, instead of I haven't... Those are just a couple of examples. It made the book hard to read, because it broke up the flow. College kids just don't speak that way. Most adults don't speak that way.

It was a cliffy so I have to continue. Hopefully the writing improves and becomes more natural sounding.

I really enjoyed this book. 3.5 stars
Chris was young off to college and trying to find his way and when he meets his roommate I did laugh a little I just could picture him :) college, finding your feet and the frat house to rock. With an added bonus of a sexy guy to follow the way.
A great start to the set.
Went straight on to the next book.

    Badly written

    Badly written

Just really badly written. The author's use of grammar, syntax, diction, and usage is badly done. Even for free...wasn't worth the waste of time.

  • Hc

Damn tease book.. The beginning of a coming out party with a first intimate encounter (not intercourse, no 'rush' to get to it!)

For a cut off.. this SUCKED so good thing the next 'chapter' is available....

  • Henri

I enjoyed it even though it was really short for my taste... I am curious about the love triangle that is happening and I do think that the sex scene could've been a lot more steamer then that.. I was expecting more in that area but I'm sure more might happen between them down the line...

  • Jeff

A sweet, quick read that I'd definitely call a gay romance as opposed to erotica. Simple fairy tale story without any real conflict. I enjoyed it but not enough to pay for the others in this series. Too short, too simple.

  • Christy Roberts

    Good but not for me

I just couldn't get into this book. Took too long get to what I really wanted. The guys together and not enough of them together. Loved the ending when Christopher told Jake game on over William

  • Janie

While I liked Christopher and Thomas both, there was just something about the writing that didn't do it for me.

  • Elaine White

Amazing, brilliant. Everything that I've come to expect from Chad Lane. Loved it and can't wait to read the next one.

  • Ch

The ending was a killer. It's the only reason for the two stars and not four

  • David

    Game on.

  • Camilla Harper

I enjoyed this free read, and look forward in reading it's follow up books.
A light and easy read, perfect for when you don't want to have to think too hard.

  • Remi Jay Loudermilk

    Good read

I liked this book. Very mature and I liked it because it's revolved around college and finding yourself. I wish it was longer though.

  • Diana

This could have been so much better. The dialogue is too formal for freshman college students. The ending does make me want to continue with the story as it ends on a cliffhanger though.

  • Patrick

thought it was a short nice romance. happy ending and decent story.

  • Amie

It was good. Would be better if it was a full story.

  • Javier Arellano

    Very cool!

Good story and very entertaining. It made me remember my first time. Love stories are my favourite. Highly recommended. Enjoy it!

  • Lilly

This was a cute and simple read.

  • Viktoria

If I could give this lower score, I would...
